Heat was able to ignore the still faintly throbbing spot on his head as he was led back into the cafeteria for another meal he had no intention of eating. He kept himself from rubbing at what he knew would be a small bump because dammit it didn't hurt that much. It was embarrassing, was what it was.

At the fishy odor filling the room when he entered, the demon wrinkled his nose. How that was supposed to be the slightest bit appealing he had no idea. Then again, it wasn't always the taste that mattered. Whatever this cod was, it could very well taste better than the rotting flesh he'd gotten down the night before.

His nurse made some comment about his lack of appetite, but he wasn't paying attention. She could eat his damn lunch if she was worried about it going to waste. It wasn't his fault they didn't inform their staff properly of their patients' eating habits. The room was fairly empty too, so Heat wasn't picky with where he sat. He just hoped one of his tribemates found him before he was stuck with some other pest for the duration of the meal.

Damn it damn it damn it damn it

Late, late! If there was anything peaceful or quiet about the day, it was pretty much ruined by the frantic power-walking and various attempts to get a key through its damn lock echoing through the hall. Damn it, damn it. She felt like a kid who just missed first-hour biology! It was even a wonder how she managed to sleep in when she barely slept anymore, but there you go.

She needed to stalk up on No-Doze. Maybe call up Doc, see if he had any new and exciting drugs on his side of the country.

But while it was hell and annoying to get through town and the building on full rush, finally getting inside her office made her feel a little better about it. Files, notepad, documents, coffee... Okay, good. Sink down in chair, spin a few degrees to the right with mug in hands. Relax. Okay. Alright.

Thank god she only had one patient this shift. She didn't think she had enough coffee yet...

While trying not to go too fast, Sync briskly led the two down the hallway, stealing a quick glance over at the male block's other hallway for any sign of Claude or Guy.

It wasn't long before they reached the doors to the Sun Room, stopping just at the entrance and signaled for the other two to halt as well. He had pressed himself up against one of the doors, craning his neck somewhat in order to look inside. From what he could make out there didn't seem to be any signs of a struggle from within, though that may have been because no one else had arrived and taken the bait yet.

"Looks like we'll have to be extra cautious this time," The God-General murmured, looking over his shoulder at the other two.

After Tyki rounded the corner and headed into the block's main hallway, he paused to lit himself a cigarette. It pretty much sucked that the only time he could actually smoke was during the night thanks to the bothersome staff.

Not to mention they weren't easily to come by, either. Why did Cheating Boy go and disappear before giving him his seven packages? He could've at least waited until after delivering those. Or even after the Noah could got around to finish the job. At least this place had people like Sylar and Miss Shinigami to keep his black side occupied. But with his those bothersome burns, it probably wasn't very smart to pick a fight. Not that he was one of those impulsive warrior-types, but he liked his fun. The thrill of the kill and all that.

At least for now, he had a couple of boring hallways to travel through.

Ugh, she was really gonna have to figure out a good way to strap the shuriken to her back. Keeping it constantly in hand was kind of reassuring, but it was also hella impractical. Practicality came before comfort, especially in a place like this. A whole bunch of her techniques had the shuriken starting out on her back; if that wasn't an incentive to do something about it, nothing was.

Yuffie peered around the hallway she'd just stepped into. Deserted. Again. Sheesh, what was everybody doing? Hiding in their rooms and hoping the Big Bad didn't sneak in to get them? Or… Well, okay, it wasn't like Yuffie hadn't loitered in her room before, so maybe she could understand. Maybe.

Shaking her head, she trekked onward.

There didn't seem to be any of the typical night-time traffic. It was a little weird, but then again, she had practically thrown herself out of the door this time. No wonder she'd managed to beat the rush.

After everything that'd happened in the past few days, Yuffie couldn't shake herself back into her old mindset; the trek through the corridors was still mind-numbingly boring, but horrifying potential pricked constantly at the back of her neck. Any minute now, something crazy could happen—mutant zombies, grotesque ghosts, and super (annoyingly) psychotic Remnants crawling out of the woodwork sprang immediately to mind—and there was no way she was gonna get caught with her pants down, no way, no thank you.

"Stop calling me Greg, it's weird!" Raz protested, but predictably his words were ignored, and the nurse left with his roommate without a sound. The door closed shut, and he was alone once again.

The events that occurred this dinner shift played through his mind over and over again, though he very much didn't want them to. It was bad enough that he got trapped here in the first place, but couldn't he have at least got a friendlier roommate? Really? Was that so much to ask for?

As he contemplated how to deal with this problem, it seemed that all he did was blink, and then the room was dark. The lock unclicked, and Raz knew what that meant.

"Time to get to work," he said to himself, as he grabbed his flashlight and headed out the door.

Lockdown scanned the hallway with his flashlight before entering. Axe poised, the bounty hunter stepped into the long and wide hallway. After taking a brief klik to review his map, Lockdown continued on his way.

Well, at least his optics and processor weren't playing tricks on him like the last night. Although apparently people had suffered much worse that night than he had. Due to his habit of checking the board every chance he got, he'd seen the notices and questions about 'dying' last night. With slag like that going down, Lockdown was more anxious than ever to get out of this Pithole and back in his real body and world.

Once again, it was Nurse Lydia who took over the daily announcements just after the jingle came on. She didn't seem to waste any time and launched right in.

"Hello, everyone. Dr. Landel will be taking over for the last announcement of the day, but for now, I will continue in his stead. Presently, our nurses will escort you to your rooms, where dinner will be served. Tonight, the menu consists of herb chicken, mashed potatoes, asparagus, and carrots. Dessert is a brownie."

After one of her conspicuous pauses, she added:

"A double-fudge brownie."

It seemed as if someone had been coaching her from the background. At any rate, she stiffly finished the announcement with: "The Head Doctor will speak with you soon."

The intercom clicked off.

That had been a very frustrating shower. For many reasons. At least Raine was going to at least look at Forte. Hopefully, she'll actually heal him. The showers had also succeeded in making the ninja feel like a pervert. A mild one, but still... It was as if Yukari had picked that spot in the showers because she knew the ninja could easily see her.

Ugh! Damn youkai.

Squirreling herself away in a corner of the cafeteria, Sheena finger combed her wet hair before pulling it back with the bright red ribbon. She so needed her own hair ribbon back. She was attempting to formulate her plan of acquisition - she was ninja after all - as people started trickling into the room. The plan was put on pause, though, when her stomach rumbled.

Food now - plan later.

Hello! I.R.I.S. here once more to announce to you, our honored guests, that you have officially made it through a day of our typical Landel's treatment. Of course, it isn't quite over: we will now have you retire to our designated patient quarters with one of your agency partners to inspect their sleeping area and the tools that we provide them with for the true bulk of our behavioral testing. On an added note, we would like you to notice once again that the meals we provide to our subjects are of the highest quality.

For those of you feeling apprehensive about taking part in our more intensive methods, please be aware that we would never imagine putting all of you in any danger whatsoever. This last shift will be your last at our Institute; afterward, we will escort you to our Head Doctor's personal observation station to survey some of our test Next-Wave participants in the rigorous trials we put them through – all for their betterment, of course.

Once again, we hope that you are satisfied with what you find, and as always, direct any questions you may have to your console.

The nurses began to escort the patients to their rooms. They didn't even seem to be brought to awareness by words such as "testing" and "subjects."

Fresh air, devoid of the foul stench of death, was quite welcome, along with the sun's warmth. It help to distract him from last night's events. The courtyard hadn't been his first choice, but he hadn't had much say in the matter when his nurse cruelly snatched him away from Hinamori, just when she started to warm up to him.

He sat down on the grass and laid against a tree overlooking the pond. The view was marred only by the grim memories of last night.

I.R.I.S. here again, and we continue to hope that you are enjoying your temporary stay at Landel's Institute! We will now be continuing with a repeat of the last shift; you will be able to meet more former patients in the Waiting Rooms, should you wish, or you can continue to peruse our available facilities. Our visitors this shift will be a special batch: they will in fact be future members of our staff – more specifically, doctors who will provide much-needed therapy to our patient body. They, of course, will be completely unaware of the truth of the situation themselves: their memories and perception are modified, but their skills are still intact and as sharp as ever, a testament to our facilities and a perfect reflection of the objectives of Next-Wave.

Once again, we hope that you are satisfied with what you find, and as always, direct any questions you may have to your console.

Thank you!

Once again, the nurses went about ushering assigned patients into the two waiting rooms as if Martin Landel was announcing with his same old shtick. Non-assigned patients were allowed to remain in the same public room of their choice or to move to a new one.

Despite the searching of curious eyes, no patients would find any doctors in either of the waiting rooms.
