Day 51: Breakfast
Yuffie Kisaragi, indomitable bouncing ball of sunshine and unfathomable ebullience, was tired. It'd been a long night full of gibberish and getting nowhere fast.
"Can't I—"
Plucky, who had been busily loading a plate full of French toast and bacon, tittered. "I'm afraid not, Hanna, darling. A chat over a nice, hearty breakfast would do you a world of good, don't you think?"
"Aaaaactually—"
"Come on, let's find you a seat. Plenty to choose from this morning!"
For a long moment, Yuffie seriously considered doing something—anything—to act out. Punch her nurse, rub jam in an orderly's face, climb a wall and hang off the ceiling, jump on a table and parody Loveless… A ruckus like that would definitely jolt her back into gear, right? Sedation aside. And it'd turn Plucky's good day right on its head, which was always a bonus worth shooting for.
But, by the time she'd reached a decision—and it was an epic decision, a really awesome one; everybody'd appreciate the genius, she was sure—she was already alone. Her breakfast tray had been set down neatly by the nurse, who had left with an infuriatingly winsome smile.
"Wow," Yuffie muttered. Shaking her head, she picked a chair at random and threw herself into it. She kicked back, one arm slung across her eyes, to wait. For what, she wasn't totally sure. Some moron to decide that she looked like good company? That was how it usually went.

The pieces of information Erika had provided was something the Superior had already concluded on his own. Doyleton itself appeared to be under the head doctor's control, so it was no surprise that one would simply return to the institute by morning. The young detective's words simply provided another confirmation to the very thing he alread expected.
"The head doctor's control indeed extends beyond the walls. How far does it reach, I wonder?" The question wasn't a real question, or at least not a question directed to anyone in particular, so he did not expect an immediate answer. He merely wondered out loud, nothing more, nothing less.
The Nobody merely returned her stare with one of his own, observing the girl that had something more important on her mind than eating. He was not bothered by her fixed gaze on him in the slightest. "It would seem I have been hindered in my attempt to do so."
He did not elaborate, Xemnas wasn't a man of straight answers. Instead, he returned the question with one of his own: "Tell me, why is it of any importance?"

Xemnas was sharp, not volunteering more information than was required. Erika quite liked that, even if it made interrogating him a little difficult. Still, she couldn't blame him; it must have been odd to find someone who was willing to spoonfeed him information for nothing. Especially when the information was useless to him; Erika could tell that as well. Far from being disappointed, she simply moved on to the topic at hand.
"It would be difficult to notice what happened last night if you didn't have company to test it on, you see," The detective began, answering Xemnas's question before explaining more. "I am not sure what language you're speaking in, Xemnas, because it all sounds like Japanese to me. Even people from America speak perfect Japanese to me, which is extremely unlikely. However, that all ended last night. Do you recall the announcement the Head Doctor made with the loud feedback?"
She had barely caught it since she was outside, but it certainly had something to do with that announcement. What exactly Landel accomplished, it was difficult to tell, but the announcement was that clue.
"My partner and I were still able to communicate since we both spoke English, but that was the first time I was aware of her speaking in that language. And I had to make a concious effort to speak English instead of Japanese. It was a very interesting development."
She paused, because there was more to the story, some new developments she happened upon this morning. Of course, this was Xemnas's invitation to throw in any other information... assuming he was willing to share it.

"An interesting development indeed," the Nobody spoke, nodding slowly. A development that was certainly not permanent, as there seemed to be no difficulties in communicating right now even though he had never heard of this 'Japanese' language she claimed he was speaking in. "This would mean that we speak different languages even now, though we obviously do not have any difficulties in understanding one another."
This meant that, under normal circumstances, every word was perceived by the patients in their respective native language. But the question remained; how did the head doctor accomplish such a feat? Did he use something to translate everything that was spoken or written, or did he merely manage to adjust one's perception, one's senses?
"Is there anything else you have discovered?" he asked calmly after a moment of silence. "If you have, I would like to hear it." He did not take the invitation to share information himself. He might do so later, he might not.
