Night 46: West Wing, South Hall 1-B

[from here]

Once out of the female block, Momo hesitated, unsure what she wanted to do. She'd left her room without a thought, her body automatically following the same motions she did every night once she'd secured Laevatein back in its hiding place in her room. She was feeling more comfortable with the broadsword, but there was only so much she could do with it while it was in its current state and she had no one to formally teach her. Celes' tips were certainly appreciated, but Momo was unwilling to ask the general for lessons, feeling as if she'd be imposing. She would just have to adapt her own style.

After a moment of thought, the shinigami headed to the left. She'd only had two options, really. She could have headed to the right and helped with the M-U rescue, but pacing that hallway while waiting for someone to be released from their torture was not something she wanted to do. Instead, she started toward the outside of the Institute.

It didn't take long to reach the larger hallways, but it was terribly dark and empty. She tried not to shake as she let her flashlight scan up and down the hall, even checking the ceiling just in case. No spiders, no vampires, so far, so good. Toshiro's room was just around the corner and down the next hallway, so it should be alright.

Sakura wasted no time heading out into the main hallway, her flashlight flicking here and there only long enough to determine if the location was safe or a threat before continuing on. Kakashi wanted to compare her to a halfwit loser? She'd show him just how serious she could be!

Her heeled sandals made only the barest of sound as she continued on to their predetermined meeting spot. They'd better damn well get those books tonight. This was getting ridiculous.

It was almost empty in the hall at the moment, thankfully enough. If she'd had more time before leaving, or at least a little more privacy, Ayumu might have taken the time to pad the contents of her bag so that it made less noise as she moved. As it was, though, she had to move even slower and more carefully, lest it betray her presence with a soft clink of metal on metal.

After a brief pause to establish that it was as quiet as it had initially seemed, she moved on into the next hallway. She had to get this over to Okita's room before he left, lest she miss him in the hallway and he arrived at her room to find Yuffie and whoever else might have decided to show up there.

Oookay, Asuka remembered this large hallway. She had found Kaworu and Shinji in the corridor to her right. Hopefully as she retraced her steps back to their meeting spot she would find something more productive than two men holding onto each other. Jesus, no amount of bleach was going to wash away that image. A needling thought concerning Shinji's safety poked her in the back of her mind, but it was easily silenced with a deep scowl. She couldn't save wonder boy all the time! He needed to grow a pair and take care of himself! Jeez!

Now she was getting all flustered, great. Even without Shinji here he made her blood boil.

Emmett carelessly rushed into the next hallway, his smooth slippers nearly causing him to lose his footing as he turned the corner. He managed to catch it, but the sudden movement disrupted something under his bandages. Pain erupted, not just in his chest, but in his throat. He pressed his hand on his shirt and felt something wet. Whoever took care of him last night must have stitched up his wounds, and now they were bleeding.

He steadied himself against the wall and continued moving forward, away from the humans in this hallway.

Just outside the door, Taura stopped. This was where they'd agreed to meet. She wasn't sure which direction Mr. von Karma would be coming from -- and threats, even here in the barracks, could come from any direction. Even solid walls weren't a guarantee; that had been last night's lesson. So she took up position beside the door without touching the wall.

What looked like casual fidgeting was a calculated series of turns to make sure every direction -- wall included -- came into view over a five-minute stretch. It could be repeated for as long as it took.

Once again, after checking for hazards, von Karma rounded the corner and headed north into the hallway just outside the female patient block. Only two people were present, a young woman who seemed to have lost her sense of direction... and Taura standing near the wall waiting for him.

"Ms. Taura," he said as he approached her, giving her a cordial nod. "Thank you for your promptness." Was he ever grateful that he didn't have to wait for her at all... unlike his daughter from the other night, as he recalled in anger. Furthermore, Ms. Taura's quick arrival meant that he could avoid a possible encounter with Franziska; after their heated discussion yesterday during lunch, the prospect of talking to her again was quite unappealing. At any rate, he had more important matters right now.

"I am also pleased to see that you have recovered from earlier today." He looked around for potential eavesdroppers before lowering his voice. "I presume that you are well enough to accompany me upstairs to the Patient Possessions Storage Room?"

Ugh, why did his room have to be the farthest possible from hers? Not that she wouldn't have passed through this hall regardless, but she was half-tempted to go north and pass through the rec field just to make this jog somewhat interesting. She didn't, because she didn't want to be, like, mauled. But she wanted to.

The more she ran, the more she felt comfortable in this outfit. She was used to jogging - standing still was just weird. Surprisingly, though her boobs felt like they were bouncing something crazy, she felt secure, like they weren't gonna pop out at any moment. Maybe it was the double-triple knot she'd put on that rope.

Okay, down the hall, down the hall! Move your damn ass, Alkaid!

Oh, there were people in this section! Which was a bigger section than the other sections, and had Yuna passed through here in the day? Hmm.

And what had that guy on the broadcast sphere been talking about, anyway? ...Did he encounter a fiend? I hope someone helped him, she thought uneasily.

A soft, almost rustling noise of something being dragged across the floor was the only sign anything was amiss before the creature was suddenly there. At first glance it looked like some sort of decaying worm-thing, but for the limbs currently trying to catch the patient. Long and spider-like, they ended in sharp bone hooks that tried to catch onto Yuna's clothing and drag her closer to it.

Things were pretty quiet so far, but that didn't do much to put her at ease--she'd been around here long enough to know that no news really didn't mean good news. Not to mention she'd forgotten to leave a note in case anyone came by her room. Meche almost went back to put a message on her desk, but even before she turned she thought better of it. It didn't look like Manny had gotten the one she'd left last night, and she was already running late anyway. If he hadn't read the bulletin board and was wondering where she was, she'd just have to explain things tomorrow.

A few patients meandering about here, but no one that particularly caught her eye. Well, they'd probably filter out into the main hall otherwise. If he was going to hit Luffy's, it wouldn't do to get held up outside again, so Brook took the opposite direction. Whichever way he went, the course was roughly the same, except that he would be passing through a hallway rather than an open field that monsters seemed to fancy being in. Now that he thought about it, why did he usually go out that way? Maybe because of the fresh air?

Brook found himself pondering that as he headed into the next area.

Harley rushed out the doorway with far less caution than she had previous nights. Sneaking around kind of sapped all the enthusiasm out of everything unless you were following someone. No point in doing anything that would dampen her mood. So much to do and find! What, oh, what would she find today?

She hurried down the hallway at her excited jog, hoping to get upstairs and snag a bunch of goodies before anyone else got to them. It was like an all-you-can-take shopping spree! In the dark! ...With monsters! Talk about a risky game. But she was good to play whatever game this place threw at her. Plus, she was far too giddy to feel anything like fear at the moment.

Heading up was always a possibility, and what she'd tried to do a few nights before except for that idiot man. Even with breakfast that morning, the guy still hadn't said so much as a "thank you" to her for saving his scrawny little neck! If she found him pulling the same as he had that night she'd go up the side of his head with the flashlight and leave him for the oversized monster rats to make a meal of. Honestly!

You could say Dahlia was making her way through the halls at a sensible pace. Not too fast for someone as delicate and frightened of the dark like her, afraid of the monsters just waiting to rip her apart, but still speedy enough to get the job done. Ugh. It was so hard to act modest with little plots of revenge dancing around her head like some sugar plum fairy.

How would she do it? What he really deserved was to be turned into the flea he was and smashed with a hammer, but lacking that ability, she'd just have to stick with what she had. And what did she have at her disposal? Aside from a collection of morons doing whatever she said and, soon enough, a little glass vial of something deadly, all she had was her wits. Which was fine, really. The simpler the better - no one would see it coming.

So Santa wanted to tell all the good boys and girls what a rotten little lady Dahlia really was. If he was expecting to be able to sit down and eat his cookies once he handed her that lump of coal, he just have to accept his complimentary drain-o chaser.

Now where was that brat...?

Because neither of them insisted on wasting time, it wasn't long before they finally reached their first destination. Even now Sync could make out a redheaded figure standing outside the F-Block, and upon closer inspection it happened to be none other than Dahlia.

It didn't take long to reach the woman, offering her a tired smile.

"Sorry I kept you waiting, Linda," He began, walking right up to her.

"I hope you don't mind having some extra company." Of course, his disdain was apparent as he rolled his eyes slightly, doing so at an angle where only Dahlia could see it.

"You're the same no matter what, Utena," she remarked, somewhat mysteriously, and breezed through the open door. It was still strange, getting used to using her friend's name so casually. As if they were truly friends. "Even as Yomi, you called me Himemiya once. I do believe Landel's is no match for your strong will."

Hearing Himemiya say her name with no special honorifics or anything was quite welcome, but still threw Utena for a bit of a loop whenever she heard it. Even after spending so much time with her in the institute before she was whisked away, the absence of the title still struck her in an odd, but pleasing way just about every time.

"Hey, if Ends of the World hasn't gotten me yet. No way someone like Landel will, right?" she responded with a grin, glad that Himemiya was taking to the encouragment.

Her senses picked out several presences in the hall, so Kagura kept her guard up. While her flashlight illuminated the hall, her clothes rod remained at her side, ready to lash out at an enemy.

[identity profile] chainsaw-royal.livejournal.com 2010-01-07 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
A frown passed over Hime's face at the mention of being drugged; that had been a fiasco she'd rather just forget entirely. Shaking her head, she followed after Kagura; while she considered herself the leader of the group, she didn't mean in a literal sense and was more than happy to let someone else take point. That way she'd have a good chance to knife whatever jumped on Kagura out of the darkness. Hopefully even unarmed Sokka would put up enough resistance as rearguard to at least serve as a warning system if something came from behind.

Keeping formation, they continued up the hall; for now, it just seemed there were other patients.
