Night 46: Main Hallway, 1-West

[from here]

Beatrix had walked this path to the Sun Room so many times, she could do it in complete darkness. Which was exactly what she was doing. Knowing the way, there was little need for light as it would only draw creatures and other unwanted attention. Silently counting her steps, at the right number, the assassin headed left and down the hallway.

Cissnei thought that over for a few moments, pondering each one seriously. It would be nice to get out of the building, she had to admit, and there was always the chance that they'd actually manage to escape if they did. Of course she didn't like the thought of leaving her people behind but they might have a better shot of finding things out if they were outside.

Then again, who knew how far away you had to go in order to escape? It could potentially be miles and Zack wasn't armed and they had no supplies. Her pragmatic side which took up far too much of her too often was screaming at her to do the sensible thing. It did have a point.

"I think I'd prefer to head upstairs today. I do want to go outside, but I think it would be better if that waited until we were armed and had medical supplies, maybe food. I'm not sure how far away the nearest town is or if getting there would be any use."

There was something to be said for playing it safe. With no Materia and no weapon other than a flashlight (and he'd come across enough nasty monsters to know that a blunt instrument wasn't going to work against all of them), Zack could see why the Turk wanted to stay inside for now. If they came across some metal he could gather up for the whiz kid who had helped the Turk out, all the better.

"Fine by me," he said with a nod and a glance to the side as he swung his flashlight around, revealing the nearby stairs. It wasn't like they'd have too far to go, either, and they'd already spent way too long standing around and talking. He had to admit that he was surprised they hadn't attracted any monsters already. Then again, it wasn't like they were the only people who were talking in the hallways.

"Up here, then?" he asked, starting to walk toward the stairs. He didn't want to just take the lead when Cissnei had a certain superiority, but he figured they should at least get going in the right direction.

Cissnei was rather glad that Zack agreed to stay inside for now. Smart as he was, he could, sometimes, be just a bit reckless and sadly, she knew that if he'd wanted to go outside, she would have gone along with him despite the foolishness. She should probably worry more about that attachment to him, but well, Turk loyalty hardly mattered here and she knew to keep her own personal feelings in check.

She should probably mention Aerith at some point, shouldn't she?

"Sounds good to me," she agreed, hurrying after him until she was at his side, matching his stride easily with her shorter but faster steps.
