Night 46: Main Hallway, 1-West
[from here]
Beatrix had walked this path to the Sun Room so many times, she could do it in complete darkness. Which was exactly what she was doing. Knowing the way, there was little need for light as it would only draw creatures and other unwanted attention. Silently counting her steps, at the right number, the assassin headed left and down the hallway.

Same as last night, this place was uncommonly crowded than other halls. Not that she was the Queen of the Corridors here, having seen about four in total, but obviously there was something about this place. Or maybe it was just close enough and wide enough to accommodate people trying to meet up. But shouldn't they be doing more than just standing here? Shouldn't they be running around looking for away out or banding together to take down nurses and hold doctors for ransom so they can steal their keys or something?
Let's be proactive here, people!
Ugh, whatever. People were just stupid. She passed everyone with a scowl, seeking a section of hallway not so clogged with crazies hobbling about. She turned her flashlight off since a few others' brought enough illumination down to her. So, now which way? She hadn't gone further than this before...

Oh yeah, he was totally awesome.
After leaving the room, Kurt had immediately stuck himself to the ceiling and was crawling along it. Not just because he felt boss in his usual uniform, but not many people tended to look up there. Traveling in comfort and style. Couldn't get much better than that.
So maybe he was a little depressed that no one had bothered to think of what he was planning to do and thus was kind of left out of nightly proceedings, but whatever. He needed time to think about a lot of things: Terry's buttons, Logan and Matt being gone, where Kitty was... important things like that. Plus, he needed to find and explore safe places he could teleport to--places that weren't his room.
He paused on the ceiling of one of the main hallways, looking around briefly and flicking his tail. Which way, now? Was he going to check on Kitty, or explore first? Well, if he didn't get into trouble, he could just teleport back down, so whichever one he picked it really wasn't all that out-of-the-way...

Oh sure, the young redhead appeared to be "fixing" her glitchy flashlight, pulling out the batteries and placing them back in a new order. Clicking it on and off with a pleased nod, she held it tight in both hands and appeared to be waiting for someone. In truth, she was just scared--no, scared wasn't the word. She was cautious, yes--about moving on when she had no clear idea of where she should go next. For as many people out in this hall, there were more sneaking around, and with that many patients it meant the institute had to be quite enormous.
"Ugh, this is so stupid..." Her usual defense spilled from her lips as she hit her back against the nearest wall, her head rolled up across the cold foundation. Her bored blue eyes found a spot on the ceiling unmarred where she could concentrate and start to organize her plan of attack.
Maybe if I make concentric circles... that way I can always come back to a common sp--... 'the hell is that?
Something thin like a snake swept across her line of sight. Her soft face tightened in concentration. There, it did it again! What the crap? Was it a loose banner or something? Was... Was that a hand?! "Jesus..." Clicking on her flashlight, the second child pulled the light across the ceiling until a lean red and black creature came into view. "Holy crap! Wh-what the hell?!" Go for the eyes, her instincts told her, yellow light looking for any weakness to take her enemy down!

"What, what?!" Kurt shouted, somersaulting down from the ceiling and looking frantically around for whatever the other patient had been yelling over. Oh they were so screwed if it was something bigger than a cat. But he didn't see anything yet... Just a girl standing around by herself. He narrowed his glowing yellow eyes at her.
"That's not funny..."

"That's not funny..."
It could talk? This was.... wait, a monster with intellect?
Her brain hurt.
Well if it was intelligent, it could be clever and tactful. She needed to fight now while it was still a bit stunned, or whatever it was doing. Taking a deep breath, the second child lifted her light again and shined it in its face to disorient or blind it before rushing towards the creature, ready to displace some motor functions with a good slap to that dark mug.

Kurt shouted in pain as his nightvision was suddenly overcome by a bright, white light in his eyes. She was trying to blind him! Why in the name of God was she trying to blind him?!
That question was soon answered when the girl smacked him across the face. He thought he saw lights pop up in front of his eyes (she had a wicked right hook) as her hand connected with his jaw. Kurt stumbled back, taken by the momentum of the strike.
He couldn't see and he was completely disoriented--this was a bad combination. He stumbled in the direction he thought the girl was in, hands outstretched.
"Hey, wait a second!"
no subject
"The time for talk is over!"
Her little hands could only do so much damage, so she needed to spice it up. Turning her flashlight around in her hand, Asuka raised it toward the monster to beat him senseless with the heavy plastic. "Die, fuzzball, die!"
no subject
Which meant that if he wasn't going to be beaten to death, he had to stop her.
"STOP!" Kurt shouted, bearing his teeth at his assailant and grabbing at the hand holding the flashlight. If he had the opportunity, he'd pin her if he had to. Not as though he had the upper hand right now, his head was still spinning from the punch and the flashlight strikes. He thought he felt something warm trickling down his chin, too. "I'm not a monster, STOP!"
no subject
There were plenty of people around the area so she tried another approach. She began to scream. With her good hand indisposed, the second child began to scratch and hit the arm keeping her captive with her left hand while her legs scraped across the linoleum for leverage to pull herself away. "Get off me! Get off! I'm-I'm gonna kill you! I swear I will! You'll pay for this!"
no subject
She couldn't be...
Get off me! Get off! I'm-I'm gonna kill you! I swear I will! You'll pay for this!
...talking about him, could she?
Kurt winced as the girl beat and scratched at his arm, feeling the spandex tear a little at the elbow. She was trying to get away from him. She was trying to escape from a monster that had attacked her. But he'd just explained that he wasn't a monster, and she definitely wasn't listening. How was he supposed to deal with this? What would Professor Xavier tell him to do if he was pinning a strange girl who had attacked him thinking he was a monster? ...well, talk it out, obviously, but that wasn't working so well.
And God, she was screaming her lungs out and squirming! Not only did that make it harder to think about the situation, it was making him extremely nervous. How was he supposed to explain what was going on if she was screaming so much? Someone was going to think he actually was a monster if she didn't cut that out! But he couldn't just let her up and run away, she might chase him down and start beating him with her flashlight again. Or worse... post on the bulletin that something had attacked her last night.
Kurt loosened his grip on her arm, finally forced to let go when one of her attacks connected with his elbow. He withdrew with a yelp. This was so not good. Stop the screaming, or grab her hands and try to prevent another beating? Maybe she'd listen if she stopped screaming...?
"Hey, hey, stop! Listen to me!" Kurt tried to put his hands over her mouth to at least muffle the sound. "I'm not a monster, I'm just a patient, if you keep screaming someone might think something's actually wrong!"
no subject
It was easy now to hear her attacker's words and it did the trick in calming her constant flailing, though what she heard didn't give way to belief. With scowling blue eyes boring a hole into this man thing's dark face, the second child did her best to turn her head and speak from behind his hand. "Something is wrong! You are wrong! Mental patients don't have fur!"
no subject
"There's nothing wrong with me," Kurt said, bristling a little and frowning at her, narrowing his eyes slightly. He hated it when people said there was something wrong with him--especially now that he knew that this was just how he was born. "I'm just different from you," he said, as though that was an explanation.
He thought for a moment. There still wasn't any guarantee that she wouldn't post all over the place about a patient with fur attacking her. Was there some way that he could just... slip away with her thinking she'd just imagined him being there?
"You're... you're just imagining that I have fur and that I walk on ceilings," Kurt said, trying for the life of him to sound convincing. "Because this place does all kinds of crazy things. Like... the walls bleed, and zombies come out in the town. Crazy stuff like that. I really look just like you!"
no subject
With renewed anger, the young girl began to struggle once more, hoping to free her right hand so she could sock this bastard a second time for insinuating anything about the state of her mind. "You are so lucky I don't have my eva or I'd squash you like the bug you are! Let me go, you creeper! Go crawl back under whatever rock you were shat out of!"
no subject
He shouted in pain and jumped off of Asuka, nursing his face. Why wouldn't she just... listen to him? It wasn't like he'd said anything that wasn't in alignment with trying to explain that he wasn't a monster. Kurt shook off the punch, still a little dazed by it. He was done trying to explain. He crouched low, eyes narrowed, tail flicking irritatedly.
"Whatever you want, fräulein," Kurt hissed. In a blink, he was gone in a cloud of smoke.
