Night 45: M-A Block Hallway

[from here]

Junpei found himself a spot not too far from the door leading out to the hallway. Seriously, if Yukari waned the damn Evoker, she needed to run her mini-skirted ass down here to get it since he wasn't going much farther. It was only fair since he'd trucked down to her block last night.

Setting the bag of stuff on the floor, he leaned against the wall after adjusting the Evoker in the waistband of his jeans. He was not happy with having lost the t-shirt he'd had last night, forced to wear the smiley one again, even if it was turned inside out. He sighed and looked down at the square bandage on his arm. Vampire. He'd been bitten by a vampire.

Just to make sure, the junior checked his teeth. No fangs. Good. He probably would have freaked out if he'd found any. Still... curiosity got the better of him and he peeled half the bandage off to look at the bite. Twin puncture wounds with some redness about them. He poked it.

"Ow." Poking it was not a good idea.

[Hey, Yuka-tan... got any garlic?]

"Not a plan, but a self-imposed challenge," he said, bringing a hand to his chin as he spoke. He was awfully curious about all of these stories of monsters lurking in the mist of his strange and sudden surroundings. Were they Heartless? Where could they be hiding? And that would be two who did not know of their names at the very least, suggesting that, if these were Heartless, then it was a relatively unexplored world. He dropped his hand, sweeping it to the side in a dramatic gesture. "What say you to hunting our game down, for old Time's sake?"

As for how long he had been here, well...

"Who could say?" He certainly couldn't. Perhaps his roommate was mistaken. Perhaps he was attempting to play a trick on the Nobody. But one does play attempt to scam the dealer, and Luxord was no fool. He would puzzle out his answers on his own terms. "And you?"

Roxas was used to not-really answers answers. But that didn't mean they didn't annoy him.

"I never saw any clocks around, so I don't really know... a few hours, I guess," the blond shrugged. He wasn't exactly a whiz with time, and it didn't matter in the long run, did it? He was just going to assume Luxord meant "yes, quite a while" and move on. "Since this afternoon. The lights worked back then." Even if he was used to darkness, he certainly couldn't see amazingly in it.

Looking down at his flashlight, Roxas really wished it shined a little brighter. Light was comforting to him, and it went without saying that he was really uncomfortable now. He also felt kind of... empty. Maybe if they did hunt some Heartless, the Keyblades would find their way back to him.

"Hunting sounds good," Roxas nodded, giving his approval in a small thumbs-up. It was something to do, at least, and in the meantime, he could explore the place. He'd have a hard time getting back to his room, but... oh well. "Where should we start looking?"

"I haven't a clue." It was an honest answer, as he truly did not. He had only awoke an hour and fifty-two minutes ago and spend most of that time in a single room. How was he to know where to look when the game was just beginning? Was he supposed to rush head long into the danger?

He was a Gambler, not an idiot. As thrilling as that sounded, he would rather this not end so soon.

But if Roxas had been here longer, even if only for a few hours, X knew he could trust the boy to have learned a thing or two. "How about this," he suggested. "Take everything you know of this place thus far. The rooms you have been in, the information you have gathered, the people you have spoken to - combine this knowledge and make a logical conclusion of where, exactly, we should be headed. And since we also appear to be particularly weaponless," well, Luxord was weaponless. It was safe to assume Roxas was as well, "erring on the side of caution should also be taken into account." He laced his fingers together, offering the smaller Nobody a smile. "When you find your metaphorical rabbit, that is where we shall begin."

He wasn't proud of foisting all of the thinking on the boy's part, but it was the most he could do. Roxas was a bright child (...good evening, pun) and Luxord only knew what an hour's amount of time would give him. For now, it was the only option.

Perhaps he wouldn't be offended.

Okay. Roxas had to agree that Luxord's suggestion sounded like a good plan, but there was a small problem: since his rude awakening, the Nobody had only visited two rooms. Neither the Sun Room or his own quarters had served to be particularly interesting, and he had already grabbed the most useful item from under his pillow. As for people... well, Ashton was weird, but he hadn't mentioned anything of particular interest outside from how dangerous the hallways were supposed to be at night.

The Sun Room was the best bet, but what could they do with a lot of couches and books? Maybe -

- well, that room had been connected to a lot of smaller ones. He hadn't particularly paid attention to them, but Roxas could remember the printed letters on the door pretty well (which gave him a small sense of satisfaction, as he felt maybe he had underestimated his memory).

"I've only really been the Sun Room, but it had a lot of smaller rooms connected to it," Roxas spoke up, tucking his thumb under his chin as he tried to recall the floor plans. "Music, crafts.... some bathrooms. And the game room." Bingo. "Maybe we can go there." It wasn't going to be particularly useful to Roxas, but it could be a way to protect both of them. "They might have cards for you... I mean, yours aren't working now, right? And maybe I can go to the music room and find... something."

A game room...? Well then. Consider Luxord intrigued, strange prison.

So, of course, the Nobody nodded his head at the smaller one's assessment. "That sounds suitable enough." Though he had little idea what Roxas could possibly want with the music room. Spending too much time with Demyx, was he? Hopefully, the boy would keep up his work ethic and not pick too much up from the man (he appreciated IX's enjoyment of music and involvement in their poker league, but occasionally, his habits were harrowing). He would not enjoy it if the boy suddenly decided work was not to be a part of life.

But it was a good plan. Or, at least, Luxord saw nothing wrong with it anyhow. It still meant X had barely a clue of where this sun room was and Roxas would need to take the lead, but he should be used to that after their excursions in Wonderland. It was not so much an issue to slow them down, he thought.

"Let's get going, shall we?"
