Night 45: Main Hallway, 1-West

[from here]

Once away from the safety of the patient block, Momo slowed down as she traveled along the left hand wall to cover her blind spot. In this position, she could easily draw her sword and deal with issues as they arose. Hopefully, there would be none.

Momo had too much on her mind to want to deal with anything she didn't have to.

So he was new. Also, surprisingly unfazed by the situation. Possibly indication that he had some experience dealing with such dangerous or unknown situations. Possibly an indication he was a moron. Either one could have their uses.

"Depends what you intend to do," she said unhelpfully. "If you want to die, just head in any direction away from the patient rooms alone and unarmed like you are and I'm sure you'll find something fatal soon enough; this place has no shortage of nastiness. Otherwise, you'll have to be a little more specific."

Allen frowned a little. "I'm not exactly unarmed," he said. He wasn't used to using actual weaponry, because he didn't need it. He'd never thought that he'd need a weapon; after all, he had his with him all the time!

"Um, I'm mostly just exploring. I know there's dangerous stuff out there, but I'm not scared about that. I'll keep going no matter what."

He remembered what Javert had said, earlier. "Oh! You don't need any help or anything, do you?"

Not unarmed, was he? Then he probably had some kind of power or ability that he used for combat. Maybe something to do with that arm of his? Provided this was truth and not bravado, this moved the boy towards the category of experienced rather than a fool, which was far more useful.

"That's the exact kind of attitude you can find your death with," she chuckled darkly at his determination. She wondered if anyone had warned him that his abilities would be dampened here. "Especially in an unknown situation like the one you're in."

The question was met with slightly flat stare; while she was looking for strength in numbers, the particular phrasing did imply helplessness on her part. Not exactly worth making a fuss over, however.

"Are you offering?" she asked instead, a slightly sinister smile on her face. "I'm not one to turn down volunteers."

Allen shook his head. "I won't die. I can't die yet, anyway. Like I said, I'll keep going no matter what."

He wondered if he'd said something, for her to look at him like that. Hopefully not! He wasn't looking to make anyone upset at all.

"Sure, I don't mind," he said, his smile returning. It would give him some real direction, and some company, if nothing else. "I'm Allen Walker. Nice to meet you, um..."

The boy's conviction only elicited a dry chuckle from the princess; he really did have a death wish. Well, heroes had their uses.

"Just call me Hime," said the Royal. She took a moment to check the surrounding area, but didn't see Teresa yet; it wouldn't have been hard to spot her if she had been present. "We're actually waiting for one more; she's the other leader in this little expedition to the other side of the institute."

Of course, if Hime was a leader and Teresa was a leader, where did that leave Allen?

When Teresa hadn't spotted Hime in the hallway immediately outside the female barracks, she assumed the girl had headed toward the front as that was the general direction they would be heading and, if she recalled correctly, a commonly traveled location. Some hapless idiot would surely cross through there for the heiress to find.

Sure enough, when the tall warrior entered the hallway, something very large and metal strapped across her back, she found Hime talking to an even younger boy. Her eyes focused on the boy when she drew near them. The boy was human, she could sense that, but she could feel the faintest trace of youki on him. It was so faint that the odds were the boy wasn't even aware of the things he may have been interacting with.

"How kind of you to wait," she said to Hime, though her silver eyes were still upon the boy. In the dark, the patch of wetness on the front of Teresa's shirt from Euphemia's tears wasn't easily noticed, not that she expected Hime to ask about it or her conversation with the girl's roommate.

"And you are?" she asked the boy.

"Nice to meet you, then, Hime!" he said, a bit cheerfully. Sure, it was a dangerous situation, but that was no reason to sit around and be afraid all night. That wasn't going to help him, or Hime, or anyone else.

Allen looked at the newcomer. Well, she didn't waste any words, did she? That was okay, though. He was used to following orders, so if helping these two women meant going along with it, he'd be all right. Anyway, it wasn't like he knew anything at all about this place, so following was a better idea than leading.

"Allen Walker," he said, in answer to the lady's question.

"Teresa," said Hime curtly, acknowledging her presence with a nod and the slightest of smiles. If Allen was smart, then that was all the introduction he'd need for the warrior.

"Allen just arrived here, so he's got nothing on his agenda other than going somewhere alone to get eaten," she said with a more amused look on her face. "I suggested he accompany us instead and he agreed. Now the only question left is our destination; you said something about the other side of the institute?"

Hime had only seen the maps perhaps once or twice at a glance before today when the nurses stopped allowing the spread of such information on the bulletin. The only things she particularly remembered of interest on the far side were the doctor's offices.

[identity profile] number1smiley.livejournal.com 2009-11-28 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
Teresa's eyes shifted from Allen to Hime, feeling no need to introduce herself given the girl had just said her name. The boy was hopefully smart enough to pick up on it.

"I see." Her lips curled up. "How foolishly brave."

Teresa hadn't gotten a chance to see anything on the eastern half of the institute and was really only looking to get a better lay of the land. This was why if the girl had a better destination in mind, the warrior would have no issue with the change. As it was, it seemed Hime did not have anything better in mind, though her goals could very well have rested in the place she was heading to begin with.

"Yes. I have had very little opportunity to see what is on that side. There may be something useful there." A pause. "Or at least interesting." Possibly entertaining. Something to keep her from getting bored. The more bored Teresa got, the more likely she was the indulge in her favorite past-time. While entertaining for her, it would certainly not be for the poor human with the two females.

Allen couldn't help frowning a little. He really had no plans to get eaten, or killed, or anything of the sort! Reiterating that to Hime seemed like a lost cause, and he wasn't sure what he should say to Teresa to convince her that he wasn't in nearly as much danger as the girls seemed to think.

Oh well.

"Well, Teresa, nice to meet you, too! I'll just go along with you, since I'm not sure where anything really is yet."

He wasn't sure how big the place was, but he didn't want to sound stupid and ask. He'd learn. That's what this was about, right?

[identity profile] chainsaw-royal.livejournal.com 2009-11-28 08:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Then we're of a mind," said Hime, nodding in approval. Having help that was actually helpful and not, say, too proud or too arrogant to work with effectively was always a welcome condition. It was but one of the reasons she kept Hiro around - and hopefully would be able to keep him around, provided he hadn't starved to death before she returned. "Learning the area and possibly obtaining items of value seem to be the plans for the night." And hopefully not being stopped by any of the monsters of the night; between Teresa and her metal armament, Hime's knife and whatever skills the boy might have, the Royal felt some confidence in their chances.

"Let us be off; time here can be short or long."
