Day 43: Intercom, Evening

Hello! I.R.I.S. here once more to announce to you, our honored guests, that you have officially made it through a day of our typical Landel's treatment. Of course, it isn't quite over: we will now have you retire to our designated patient quarters with one of your agency partners to inspect their sleeping area and the tools that we provide them with for the true bulk of our behavioral testing. On an added note, we would like you to notice once again that the meals we provide to our subjects are of the highest quality.

For those of you feeling apprehensive about taking part in our more intensive methods, please be aware that we would never imagine putting all of you in any danger whatsoever. This last shift will be your last at our Institute; afterward, we will escort you to our Head Doctor's personal observation station to survey some of our test Next-Wave participants in the rigorous trials we put them through – all for their betterment, of course.

Once again, we hope that you are satisfied with what you find, and as always, direct any questions you may have to your console.

The nurses began to escort the patients to their rooms. They didn't even seem to be brought to awareness by words such as "testing" and "subjects."

[ All room threads go in response to this post; please post your character's room number as the subject line of the initial post. (Find all of the newly changed room assignments and shift introductions here.) If you are introducing your character during this shift, you may either choose for them character to wake up before their roommate gets back, or after. ]

So this was another one with a strong will? That was fair enough. Franziska dealt with enough of them in her work that having someone bristle against her tone no longer fazed her. She noted the broken fork and then turned to her own meal, finding it far easier to handle than her still nameless roommate. "You have moved into a space I previously occupied - therefore it is only expected that you, as the newcomer, would state your name."

And if she didn't? Fair enough. Franziska would get the dog leash and whip it out of her. Quickly cutting up her steak and separating the pieces out for easier eating later, she looked at the fries and wondered if Americans insisted on frying everything. Mashed potatoes would have been far superior a companion to a steak. Once that was finished, Franziska set the knife down, wishing she could steal it, but knowing the nurses here would likely come and take it away before the night shift started. Bringing one piece of the steak up to her lips, she paused and smirked a little. "And if you must know, I am Franziska von Karma, the prosecuting prodigy." Following that she started on her dinner.

Another one with a spine, huh? Dinners should probably be interesting from now on, then. Kuukaku smirked to herself before glancing at her roommate. Short hair, beauty mark and the same ugly uniform as her. Not that the clothing was a surprise.

"Heh! You're no dumbass, I gotta give you that." she said, slightly leaning back into her chair. "Fine, I'll give you my name 'cause you actually got a point. I'm Shiba Kuukaku, first class fireworks expert."

She managed to cut another piece of steak with the damned flimsy knife and took another bite. After swallowing it (only her dumb brother ate with his mouth full), she added on a more authoritative tone: "Though havin' a point doesn't mean you can keep using that tone to me like that, you hear?!" Which was the only warning Franziska here was gonna get.

The more Franziska spoke with this woman, the more she realized her rough nature. While the prosecutor wasn't exactly adverse to such characters, she was a little less at ease around them. They tended to shout and remind her of a certain upstart mystic-in-training. But at the 'dumbass' comment, Franziska bristled and barely managed to keep her temper in check, forcing herself to focus on her notes instead of on punishing this woman for her insolence. It was unlikely that a fireworks expert would know of the von Karma legacy anyway, and less likely that they kept up on the latest in international law. Flipping open her journal on her desk, she picked up a pen and jotted down the woman's name. Shiba Kuukaku - Japanese, fireworks expert (explained the arm and possibly her personality).

With a flick of her wrist, the journal closed again and she returned to her meal. After finishing another bite of meat, she raised an eyebrow and glanced sideways at Kuukaku. "And what tone is that?" This was just how she talked and Kuukaku was lucky Franziska wasn't speaking with words instead of using her whip.

"Che! Don't play dumb." Kuukaku responded. That woman better not be testing her patience!

Having finished her meal, she pushed the plate aside with her single hand and stood up only to walk over to the closet. Slamming the door open without considering the noise it'd make, she pulled out some random clothing. It looked like she wasn't going to get her stuff back anytime soon, so she had decided to make herself a makeshift headwrap.

After closing the closet-door in the same manner as she had opened it, she sat down on her bed and began ripping the clothing apart using her single arm and her teeth.

Alright, now she was having her patience tried. von Karmas never played dumb. They never did anything even remotely close to being considered dumb. But beating her roommate into submission seemed like a bad route to take, considering that she had things to do tonight and getting into fisticuffs was not among them. Gripping her fork a little tighter, Franziska held still and gave Kuukaku an icy glare. "von Karmas do not and will never 'play dumb,' Shiba Kuukaku." Where was her whip? Honestly, if she had to take it out because of this woman, Franziska was going to be very cross for the rest of the--

She did not just slam that door open like some uncultured lout! Not once, but twice. Twice. Franziska did not like to hit the handicapped. She found abuse against those less fortunate than herself detestable, but for this girl? She'd make an exception. "MUST you slam about like that?" the prosectuor snapped, glaring at Kuukaku now that she was on the bed.

Alright, that did it.

Kuukaku threw the shirt she had been in the progress of ripping apart aside and stood up from her seat on the bed. Stomping over to the other woman, she jabbed her index finger into her face.

"Listen up, brat, 'cause I'm only gonna say this once!" she yelled, towering above her roommate while glaring at her threateningly, as if the slightest wrong move or word would prompt the fireworks master to beat her lifeless. "I do whatever I damned well please! Either shut up and deal or get the hell out! Do I make myself clear?!"

This may not be her house, but that didn't mean some stranger could say whatever she wanted. If she wanted to slam with the door, she slammed with the fucking door. Who the hell did this brat think she was, anyway?!

Brat? Brat?! Okay, that was it. Grabbing her journal, Franziska bolted out of her seat and slapped the hard cover against the finger thrust into her face. No matter how much she was against hitting women or the handicapped, this woman was simply infuriating beyond belief! She had thought Phoenix was at the top of her hit list, but this woman, in one shift had made it close to the top - if not at the very top. "You are in my room, you insolent fool! Don't you dare think for one moment that I, Franziska von Karma, will be intimidated by your boorish behaviors!"

Raising the journal up again, Franziska knew the nurses would be in momentarily to break up this fight, but she cared little. Shiba Kuukaku was going to learn not to mess with her, if she had to whip her into bloody submission all night long. "Did no one teach you even the most basic of courtesies?!"

Trying to smack her with the journal had definitely been the wrong course of acting to take. It only served to make Kuukaku's already combustible temper even worse.

"You dare messing with me, brat?!" she yelled. "Che! Don't give me this crap about it being your damned room, got it?! I'll kick your sorry ass, you shit-faced punk!" Until some damn sense had been smacked into her. The fireworks master balled her hand into a fist and aimed it directly to the other woman's jaw.

Unfortunately, she wouldn't get very far...

Oh for the love of--!! The nurse and orderlies burst into the room the moment they heard the shouting escalate into violence and the orderlies tried to pull the two women apart. Most roommates got along. Wilhelmina, in fact, had done remarkably well with her previous roommate, so the Institute must have thought she would be find with this new person. Whoever thought that was a good idea? Would likely be getting fired later. One orderly intercepted Lucy's fist before it slammed into Wilhelmina's face and the other grabbed the German woman, pushing her back and away from her roommate as the nurse stepped between them.

"Honestly! You two could at least try to get along, can't you?" she scolded, giving them both a harsh glance. "I don't care who started it or why, but if either of you make so much as a peep after this? You're both getting sedated. Do you understand me?"

Re: F23

[identity profile] iwhipthefool.livejournal.com 2009-09-06 12:04 pm (UTC)(link)
A fist was coming at her face and Franziska jerked back, bringing the journal up to shield her when the door burst open and strong hands forced her back. Damn meddling staff! Franziska struggled momentarily to throw the orderly's hands off her and then glared at the man, gripping the journal a little harder. If he touched her again--

"--both getting sedated. Do you understand me?"

Those words broke through her anger and irritation, stabbing like a sword straight through her. She had far too much to do tonight to risk getting sedated. Stepping back, she set her journal down and folded her arms, closing her eyes. While she was clearly unhappy with their interference, she wasn't about to raise her hand against them. In the interest of keeping her appointments, at least. "...Understood."

And right before Kuukaku hit the brat, someone suddenly came out of nowhere and intercepted her fist. She also struggled to get it free, and once the orderly had finally released him.

"Che!" Kuukaku said, glaring at the staff-members but placing her hand on her hip. She obviously wasn't happy with the interference either, but it looked like there was little else she could do at this point. Finding supplies tonight while being sedated obviously wasn't gonna work, so she wasn't stupid enough to continue. The brat wasn't worth something like that, so the other woman was just being lucky this evening.
