Day 22: Brunch
Cid usually liked sleeping in, especially in a place as messed up and uninviting as this, but this happened to be one situation where he really wished he hadn't.
Right there, on the bulletin board. The Head Doctor and he'd fucking missed it? Some part of him wished he'd been there to take his eye out and another part of him knew he wouldn't have been able to. No man that powerful who hid for so long went to dangerous places without some kind of entourage.
Brunch sounded like it'd be filling, at least, though he nearly stopped in his tracks when the bastard announced TEA. TEA. It'd been a damn long while since he'd had some fucking tea, though with all the stress this place had found fit to rain down on his fucking head, it hadn't really been the first priority on his mind. Kinda nice, even if Cid was sure this was just some game the mother fucker was playing to get them all stuck neck-deep in Stockholm Syndrome.
He scanned the mostly-empty room for any sign of a familiar face once he'd piled waffles and sausages and syrup on his plate, though the person he really wanted to talk to was that Reynolds guy. "Spaceship" was the last word he remembered clearly before waking up in his bed, and dammit if he wasn't going to keep it stuck like glue in his mind.
He found a table where he could watch people come into the cafeteria and grabbed for his mug. The steam rising from his drink and the bag of herbs in it was nearly enough to make him grin despite it all, and it was with marked leisure and a little relief that he drank his goddamn tea.

"Forgiven." he spoke as smoothly as possible, his scowl replaced by a smile with the likes, of the Chesire cat. With teeth. Plenty of teeth.
"I don't fancy the food they serve, myself...so, what's your name?"
no subject
"Hinasaki Miku..." she murmured automatically. She was carefully trying to avoid eye contact. "And you? Won't they let you leave?" she ventured another look at his face. My, his eyes were red. Like an obi-jime tie. It was, in a word, weird.
no subject
"They keep me here because they believe me to be someone else. A case of mistaken identity really...if not for my powerless state I would've left and killed every last one of them."
no subject
She was rather sure that killing someone was not one of the lessons she learned. Indeed, it was rather frowned upon. Still, he was giving her more clues to what was going on. Powerless state? What did that mean?
"It is... nice to meet you," she replied, but wasn't sure if she actually meant it.
no subject
Was the blunt reply. God, he was bored and hungry. Plus, the girl looked good enough to eat too. The skull splitting grin returned to his pale, sharp features, now staring at Miku intently. Alucard didn't really like beating around the bush when it came to food. Not at all.
"Tell me, would you mind feeding a starving man?"
no subject
"Well, no, I wouldn't. I suppose." Certainly the question had to be hypothetical.
Right? Of course he meant hypothetically, she assured herself. Miku felt his eyes boring holes into the side of her head, and turned to see him.
"It a nice thing to do."
no subject
His voice had taken ona deep, throaty purr, Chesire grin getting yet wider. And in an instant, it was gone when she said she would. Oh, she had no idea what she was getting into.
Alucard leaned right over the table, eyes glowing like coals.
"How about giving up a pint of blood for this hungry one?" he asked huskily.
no subject
"D-did you just ask..." The thought was too insane to comprehend. He just asked have her donate blood to him? Somehow, Miku didn't think that it involved a needle. And all those teeth...
Then, quite suddenly, her chair's legs gave way backwards and BANG Miku found herself on the floor, dazed. "Tss, tss, tss, it hurts..."

With the (incredibly thankful) departure of Xigbar and the two children with him, Chase sighed and returned to his food, nearly finished anyway but not about to waste a potential energy source. He'd just set down his tea (not a familiar type; he hadn't had Earl Grey for some time) when a loud bang shot through the room, drawing his attention. He looked over, eyes hooded - the drugs were slowly (very slowly) wearing off.
A girl had knocked over her chair and was lying flat on her back while a somewhat older man loomed over her, grinning like some kind of demon. The look in his eyes was particularly hungry.
Chase blinked. Oh, come on, now. Even he had standards, and he was a paragon of ultimate chaos, evil, and destruction.
Slowly, with a serpentine grace, he slid away from his seat and over to where the girl was, stopping just short of her head. He looked down at her with one eybrow quirked, then turned his gaze to the dark-haired man leaning over her.
"I certainly hope you're aware of just how suspicious this looks," he said, clasping his hands behind his back.
no subject
"I certainly hope you're aware of just how suspicious this looks."
Bah. Someone who just couldn't mind his own business. But then again the collapsing chair was bound to attract rather unwanted attention. Alucard looked at the youngster, fangs peeking past his lips.
"I assure you that I have no intention of anything non-consensual. Just trying to get a decent meal is all." he retorted sharply, obviously displeased.
no subject
Secondly, a
handsomestranger came to her rescue, but Mr Call-Me-Lord-Alucard-And-I-May-Feast-Upon-You?, was still making his way around the table.Probably a very good time to get up, then (and oh, how she wished she had her camera, a camera, even the Camera Obscura again to give him a good flash in the eyes!). Miku pushed herself up on her elbows, and moved her legs from their ungainly position on the chair. She dusted off her knees as she stood up and ever so subtly found herself behind her rescuer.
"...I...am not a meal," she replied from somewhere behind Chase's shoulder.
no subject
"Of course you weren't. And her scrambling back fast enough to knock over her chair was no indication of anything suspect at all," he said as the girl scrambled up from the floor and ... hid behind him. Chase tossed a glance over his shoulder at her (not very far below him, he noted with no small amount of disdain). "And if you want a meal, there is plenty of food available. Despite all their other shortcomings, the staff here does not try to starve us."
no subject
The vampire loomed over them both, his usual arrogant smirk plastered across his face. "I get that alot from people. But I'm afraid to say that, I don't gain nourishment from 'normal' food, no matter how delicious. I have to drink blood," he said.
"So unless you wish to make a small donation, I suggest backing off."
no subject
She almost wished she was back in the Himuro mansion. The ghosts didn't really want you alive, no, but at least they wouldn't eat a person. Miku blanched and peered over Chase's shoulder at Alucard.
She blinked a few times to try and get that image out of her head. She found herself speaking, murmuring really, quiet as a mouse. "...why not try anyway..?" She kept her eyes down again.
Where, oh where, were all the normal people?
no subject
Try it anyway, hm? Chase let his own arrogant smirk slide into place, feeling the drugs lose their grip on his mind. Yes, try it anyway. After all, he took no real nourishment from normal food, and yet here he was, eating it. He needed the soup soon, though - but he could worry about that later, if it became a problem.
"You have to? How pitiful, to depend on ingesting a single substance to live." Chase shrugged slightly, leaning his weight onto his right foot and tilting his head further to the left, aware that he was baring his neck to someone who was showing an interest in sucking blood from that very region. (Or so he hoped.) "I have the feeling that you're hiding possible lustful tendencies under the guise of an addiction. Tell me, are you fond of underaged girls, or is this just a passing fancy?"
(Oh, how deep he dug his grave ... but he didn't have his foot in it, so really, it didn't matter to him.)
no subject
How nice it was for the boy to actually offer himself up as food then. He'd be sure to thank him. After he drank his share.
"Unfortunate, but I don't mind it at all. I only take what I need...because I don't want to accidentally suck the soul out of my victim." Only because Integral didn't allow it and, committing murder in a public area like this was just one of the things other stupid people would do. When he mentioned the part about underaged little girls however, Alucard couldn't help but laugh. It was too funny.
"Hah, how astute of you. But I prefer not to make such...amorous advances under the light of day. Too little privacy. Now since you've decided to be such a chilvarous young man..." he said, the purr returning to his voice. His mouth was half open again, to accomadate the now sabre-like fangs, leaning foward to take a bite.
no subject
Even if this was a bit of what Yuu would call a 'pissing contest' (such dirty words, Miku!) in normal terms. She swallowed as he came closer to them, and leaned in for an almost loverly touch to Chase's neck. A little too close to her.
"Oh dear."
no subject
And then Alucard smiled and leaned down with those teeth bared and Chase could almost feel that breath on his neck. He couldn't jump back because the girl was behind him and either direction to the side was blocked by tables and chairs and forward was just stupid when they were already this close. So he did the first thing that jumped into his head as a second resort.
He slammed his hand up into Alucard's lower jaw, attempting to shut that mouth and keep those prying fangs away from his neck.
"What do you think you're doing?" he hissed, teeth clenched together tightly. Chase did know exactly what Alucard was trying, but no, oh no, he wasn't about to succeed. Not if he had anything to say about it.
no subject
Ah well, c'est la vie.
But then again, there was this phrase which went 'too good to be true.' It was just too easy to just sink his teeth into some stranger's throat. He caught a brief glimpse of a hand moving, and then his jaws slamming shut painfully. It was just luck that he didn't bite off his tongue. Nevertheless, it angered him.
"You decided to stick your nose where it didn't belong, boy," came the angry hiss, the vampire grabbing Chase around the wrist and twisting it. "So now perhaps I'll feed off you instead."
no subject
And there was already all kinds of commotion going on. There was a (very, very) large breasted woman, and the nurses were on their way to her and a silver haired man she'd apparently kneed in the groin.
Then there was Alucard and her rescuer, and this was bound to be messy if she didn't get help soon. Miku cast her eyes around and then at Alucard and Chase.
"Stop! Stop that!"
no subject
Boy? For a brief instant Chase was caught between incredulous disbelief and offended rage. He was not a boy, hadn't been for a good 1,500 years. But that this man tried to play that card even when Chase knew he looked older (damn this place and its ridiculous experimentation ... !) made him wonder: just how old did Alucard think he was?
But that only took about a second and a half to cross his mind, and Chase was quickly back to normal, scowling and trying to twist his arm free. He brought up his other hand to try the same thing as before (lock that jaw shut) in the hopes of this time managing a firmer grip.
"Feeding off helpless little girls is cliche," he snarled, ignoring Miku's cries behind him. "If you're so desperate for blood, wait until nightfall - you'll get more than your share then!"
no subject
Miku was shouting something, for them to stop fighting or something like that. Well, Alucard felt it certainly wasn't his fault, so all this commotion would've been avoided if Chase didn't barge in to interrupt everything. The vampire loathed being interrupted while acquiring or having a meal and he was going to see to it that the young man got what was coming to him.
Hell, he actually didn't intend to drain the girl dry, like how he usually would have. A few hundred years ago. Alucard was being considerate. Yes. Considerate. To someone who most likely wasn't even a tenth of his true age.
The vampire saw Chase's other hand move to try and push his jaw shut, and in retaliation, opened his mouth to bite down on it. It wasn't sucking blood straight from the carotid artery, but hands could bleed all the same, no? Shark teeth bared, he clamped down on the offending appendage.
Talking later, biting now.
no subject
...And now, they were being bitey idiots. What was this world coming to? Miku tried tugging on Chase's shoulder, but he was tense and her gentle prodding did no good. "Please, stop, Alucard-san, please! Don't hurt him!"
no subject
With a fierce tug, Chase ripped his hand free from Alucard's mouth, scoring bloody tracks in his fingers. Doing so threw him off balance, and he slammed his bloody hand into the table to keep from falling over completely. Yet he still couldn't wrench his other arm free - Alucard had a firm grip on it - and that girl was trying to interfere.
He had to get away from here, had to get his hands free. Chase tried to yank Alucard down and elbow him as he did so with his caught hand - but it was difficult, because this man was so damn tall and stronger than a human should be. Of course, humans didn't drink blood.
no subject
If they fell onto the floor, Alucard would have the little morsel in a nice pin and he would be able to feed.
Instinct guided his actions now. Gritting his bloodied fangs together when he felt Chase's elbow jab him somewhere in the chest -smart boy-, he pinned the young man against the floor, teeth now sinking into his intended target from the beginning-- the soft, vulnerable throat. Then he began sucking whatever blood which started to spurt out of the bite.
