Dayshift 22; First Shift; Sun Room
As always, Tamaki woke up in his bed. He didn't know how he got there, but he woke up still in the clutches of fear he last remembered from the night. The fight in the hallway, Ed and Adel, the thing...
He was out of bed immediately, determined to make sure his friends were alright. He listened to the man on the intercom, not liking the idea of some big surprise. He didn't imagine any surprises could be good. And he hoped his friends felt the same way...
When his nurse came to get him, he chose the Sun Room instead of the chapel. He wanted no part of whatever was going to happen. He only hoped that Ed and Adel had the same idea....
They probably didn't. Agitated and worried, Tamaki paced along the window, hands behind his back, and waited.

He took a seat, since she seemed quite favorable to a bit of company. And she seemed upbeat and pleasant, something Hughes could use. And on top of that... well, much as he loved kids, he could use some adult company.

Reno had been heading elsewhere, but when he spotted a familiar face out of the corner of his eye, he veered sharply in that direction, walking straight over. Hughes looked perfectly fine, at least, and seemed to be introducing himself to someone else.
"Hey," he said to Hughes, not yet taking a seat. "You guys made it out okay last night?" He glanced at the woman, as though fully registering her presence for the first time. "Don't mind me, by the way."

When another person--a man about Simon's age with hair so vividly red that it had to be artificial--the mechanic just smiled. "I'm Kaylee," she said, taking the initiative. "And no, I don't mind."

He turned back to Kaylee, again stumped as to how to answer the question. "Amestris is just Amestris," he explained, laughing some. "It's a country, a big one. You wouldn't have heard of it, I don't think."

He smiled back and offered out his hand for what was the third time in less than an hour. "Reno," he said.
Pulling up a nearby chair, he sat down. It was clear Hughes didn't want to go into depth about whatever happened, and Reno didn't push it. Everything seemed to have ended relatively well. That was all that mattered.
"Good to hear," he said, returning the grin. "We did okay, too. Didn't find anything useful, but nothing tried to slaughter us, either, so..." He paused, suddenly remembering something. "Hey, uh, last night - you knew me somehow? Did someone just say something to you or did this place decide to give me a clone?"

"Pleasure's all mine," the mechanic said, beaming at Reno. He seemed like a pretty nice guy. "Where are you from? And what happened last night? It ain't my business, of course..." she added hastily, but there was no denying that her interest was piqued.

"Not a clone. Uh... this place seems to reset people, sometimes. Like you'll wake up one day and somebody you've known doesn't remember being here before. And I knew you - or a you - before. We were friends, actually."
He figured he'd let all that sink in.

"Midgar," he said. Edge, technically, but he still hadn't adjusted his vocabulary even after two years. "Pretty sure that's not on Earth, either...and nothing real big happened last night, just the usual shit this place likes to throw out." He had nothing against her knowing the details - he just didn't feel like explaining everything.
He glanced sharply at Hughes and blinked, unsure if he heard the man correctly. He'd thought nothing here could surprise him anymore, but evidently, he was wrong.
Another me...?
"Well, damn. Okay." He brushed back a stray lock of hair, still trying to wrap his mind around this. "...They've really covered all the ways they can fuck you over, haven't they?"
