Dayshift 22; First Shift; Sun Room

As always, Tamaki woke up in his bed. He didn't know how he got there, but he woke up still in the clutches of fear he last remembered from the night. The fight in the hallway, Ed and Adel, the thing...

He was out of bed immediately, determined to make sure his friends were alright. He listened to the man on the intercom, not liking the idea of some big surprise. He didn't imagine any surprises could be good. And he hoped his friends felt the same way...

When his nurse came to get him, he chose the Sun Room instead of the chapel. He wanted no part of whatever was going to happen. He only hoped that Ed and Adel had the same idea....

They probably didn't. Agitated and worried, Tamaki paced along the window, hands behind his back, and waited.

Kaylee laughed. "Well, if it's a big country I probably STILL haven't heard of it, since apparently I come from the future. Is Amestris on Earth-That-Was?" Okay, they would probably think she was positively feng kuang...and she really didn't give a houzi de pigu if they did.

"Pleasure's all mine," the mechanic said, beaming at Reno. He seemed like a pretty nice guy. "Where are you from? And what happened last night? It ain't my business, of course..." she added hastily, but there was no denying that her interest was piqued.

"Uh, no, not... I don't think Amestris is on Earth. Not the Earth that most people mean, anyway," Hughes explained, as best as he could. "I'm pretty sure I come from a whole nother... dimension, I guess, then you." He turned to Reno and ran a hand through his hair, trying to figure out how to explain that.

"Not a clone. Uh... this place seems to reset people, sometimes. Like you'll wake up one day and somebody you've known doesn't remember being here before. And I knew you - or a you - before. We were friends, actually."

He figured he'd let all that sink in.

After watching Hughes struggle through his explanation of his home world, Reno didn't think he'd have much more luck answering Kaylee's question.

"Midgar," he said. Edge, technically, but he still hadn't adjusted his vocabulary even after two years. "Pretty sure that's not on Earth, either...and nothing real big happened last night, just the usual shit this place likes to throw out." He had nothing against her knowing the details - he just didn't feel like explaining everything.

He glanced sharply at Hughes and blinked, unsure if he heard the man correctly. He'd thought nothing here could surprise him anymore, but evidently, he was wrong.

Another me...?

"Well, damn. Okay." He brushed back a stray lock of hair, still trying to wrap his mind around this. "...They've really covered all the ways they can fuck you over, haven't they?"
