Dayshift 22; First Shift; Sun Room

As always, Tamaki woke up in his bed. He didn't know how he got there, but he woke up still in the clutches of fear he last remembered from the night. The fight in the hallway, Ed and Adel, the thing...

He was out of bed immediately, determined to make sure his friends were alright. He listened to the man on the intercom, not liking the idea of some big surprise. He didn't imagine any surprises could be good. And he hoped his friends felt the same way...

When his nurse came to get him, he chose the Sun Room instead of the chapel. He wanted no part of whatever was going to happen. He only hoped that Ed and Adel had the same idea....

They probably didn't. Agitated and worried, Tamaki paced along the window, hands behind his back, and waited.

Yuffie had calmed down a little by the time they got to the couch. Yelling at Barret had blown off a lot of steam, even if it didn't really make her feel better at all. Maybe even worse. Maybe.

Still sniffling, she flopped down onto the couch beside Zelos. Wrapping her arms around her small form, she rubbed them gently with her hands, staring off across the room. She didn't really know what to say to Zelos... It was all she could do at the moment to keep herself from crying again. That was way too embarrassing the first time for her to want to do it again, especially in front of Zelos...

It was weird - two of the most hyper people in Landel's were sitting right next to each other not saying a word. Zelos was feeling like crap, and it was tiring trying to not be that serious.

"Hey," he said. "You look prettier when you smile. Let me see if I can't turn that frown upside down, hm?" He gave her a lopsided grin, poking her cheek lightly. He didn't like seeing girls upset like this. It was especially unfair that Yuffie had to witness that horrible event at all.

Yuffie cracked a small smile at Zelos's comment, couldn't really help it otherwise. She was a total sucker for cute guys and flattery. But at the same time, she knew it wasn't fair to make Zelos be the upbeat one when he was feeling just as badly. Right?...

"I bet you say that to all the cute girls, don't you?" she answered back. She was still being quiet, but her tone was a little lighter, a hint of teasing.

"Only the cutest girls," Zelos corrected, smiling at her. He felt a little better knowing he could cheer Yuffie up. Maybe he wasn't totally useless.

Scanning the room, he noted the scarce amount of females before turning back to his companion. "Yep, I certainly got the cutest girl in the room. I must be one lucky guy!"

[identity profile] materianinja.livejournal.com 2007-02-20 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"Guess so," Yuffie replied, smiling a bit more. She was starting to feel a little bit better. And Zelos was turning out to be more than just a cute face...

"Well, I've got the cutest guy in the room, hands down. So does that make me just as lucky?"

[identity profile] pimp-plan.livejournal.com 2007-02-20 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Zelos chuckled. "I think we're making everyone very jealous. Too much hotness on one side of the room!"

This was a lot better. Flirting was something familiar, something to take his mind off of things. "Maybe it's not just luck," he teased. "Maybe I just like being around you..."

[identity profile] materianinja.livejournal.com 2007-02-21 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
Yuffie flushed. Not a lot, but enough that she could feel it in her cheeks. Random comments about being cute didn't affect her much. But saying he liked being around her?

"Well, maybe I like being around you, too," she teased back, even though it wasn't entirely teasing. But telling him that was totally out of the picture. Well, maybe. Sorta...

Cast a quick nervous glance at him, Yuffie leaned over and gave him a kiss on his cheek before pulling back again. "Thanks. You know... For being here. And cheering me up."

[identity profile] pimp-plan.livejournal.com 2007-02-21 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
Zelos was only slightly surprised when Yuffie leaned in to kiss him. He grinned at her, letting her know there was nothing to be nervous about. "My pleasure! I can't have a pretty girl upset, after all."

It wasn't hard to see Yuffie was starting to crush on him. That was fine by him - he loved the attention, and it felt good to know she, at least, didn't resent him for what had happened last night.

Yuffie breathed a silent sigh of relief when Zelos grinned. Cloud had been such a jerk when she'd tried telling him about her feelings... So much that she'd felt the need to smack him. It made her feel better that Zelos wasn't flipping out or anything.

She grinned back in return. "I guess, and I do feel better," she answered, though it wasn't the complete truth. There was still that not-quite-dull ache inside whenever she thought about what happened, and the thought of confronting Aerith made her really uneasy, but she was pretty sure Zelos knew what she meant...

"What about you?" She wanted to make sure he was feeling better, too, though at the same time, she didn't want to break this casualness...

[identity profile] pimp-plan.livejournal.com 2007-02-21 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Him? Oh, well, he was just feeling an overwhelming feeling of guilt and worthlessness. He'd pretty much stood there and watched Aerith's friend die, and now she hated him.

Just swell. But it wasn't Yuffie's fault, and he wasn't about to drag her down.

He masked his face to something impassive and waved his hand. "I'm fine," he said. "Don't worry." His eyes fell to the floor and then quickly went back to Yuffie. "Hey, when you see Aerith, just make sure she's doing okay."

[identity profile] materianinja.livejournal.com 2007-02-21 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Yuffie was almost fooled. Really. Except for the downward glance, she would have thought everything was fine and dandy with Zelos. That and the fact that he'd basically just asked her to talk to Aerith for him. In a round about sort of way.

"Aren't you going to talk to her?" she asked, seeming a little concerned now. She didn't understand. Zelos hadn't done anything wrong, right? He shouldn't be avoiding Aerith... Not that she seemed to be here right now.

[identity profile] pimp-plan.livejournal.com 2007-02-21 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
Damn. So close.

This time, he made sure nothing in his body language gave him away. He was never very good when it came to talking about his feelings. Instead, he smiled.

"Nah, I think she'd much rather hear from you," he said. "You two were friends before you came here, after all. You'd probably have a better chance of cheering her up than me." Why would Aerith want to talk to the person responsible for the reason she was upset? It didn't make sense.

[identity profile] materianinja.livejournal.com 2007-02-21 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"But..but.." Yuffie didn't care what his attitude was like, now. It just wasn't right to not try and console her, right? Even if they were friends longer, that didn't mean anything. She still seemed pretty chummy with Zelos, too.

"You're her friend, too, aren't you? It shouldn't matter how long you've been friends. I mean, I knew her a while... but it's been a year since she died. And then I suddenly see her again her, and it's just really weird. I don't know what to say... And she really likes you, anyway." At least from what Yuffie could tell.
