Day 41: Sun Room

Haseo's steps were heavy with the weight of righteous anger as he was escorted into the Sun Room, his posture so sullen and reluctant you could almost hear the nostalgic cry of an electric guitar. He was seething, and though perhaps it was a bit harder to be intimidating while wearing the uniform of an insane asylum and flanked by a bored-looking orderly, it was not for lack of trying.

Unfortunately, his nurse seemed unaffected by the act, and even with the cloud of failing to keep "Kai" away from "Peyton" hanging over her, remained determinedly cheerful. She merely said something about receiving a lecture later on, ignored his retorts, and assured him that it would be alright even though his internet stalker was in the same building. For the most part, Haseo tuned her babbling out after that, dismissing it as hopeless.

"...and usually this would be the time children would be taking showers, but you don't have to worry about that right now. Now then, le--"

"Wait. What?"

"Oh, all the children seventeen or under are separated right now while the adults go to the courtyard..."

"Hey, I'm not a kid you old--!"

"Oh of course you aren't dear, but you're not eighteen yet either, now are you?"

Haseo resisted the urge to do something rash, literally biting his tongue to keep quiet. But upon having the bulletin board pointed out to him, he shrugged off his anger for the most part and headed that way, fully intending to get more answers than he'd had time to receive during breakfast.

Well... at least Endrance is in another shower group, he thought, Thank god.

[Closed to Tsukasa, for now!]

...had II seen him pacing? Dash it all.

Luxord only shook his head as Xigbar prattled on about how victorious he was, examining the extent of the Freeshooter's injuries and ignoring Tyche's meowing (she was being ignored again and did not like it). They were bandaged, yes, and X would expect Xigbar to pull through just fine, but that key. That key was hardly friendly to creatures such as them. It paid to be wary. "And yet he is still alive," he managed in between feeling up checking his friend's wounds. "And you've gained nothing but a severe beating."

That question, however? It was best answered with a quick, blunt "No."

[identity profile] numberii.livejournal.com 2009-05-18 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
"You break my heart," Xigbar answered with a lazy grin, trying his best to adopt a casual, lazy pose. The problem was that doing so was murder on his ribs, so all he really managed to do was turn his grin into a bit of a wince. Not that he'd call attention to it, of course. He'd never do anything like that.

Instead, he just shook his head, making a pained yet dismissive motion with his hand. "Dude, I got answers. Means a heck of a lot to me. An' now I know that he is all that... never would've guessed. Kid like him, havin' more power than anyone else like him? Never saw that one coming, not ever. 'sides, you were wrong too; you said fightin' him was a death ticket, an' I'm still breathing. I think that's somethin' right there."

...what horrible shape the other Nobody was in. Out of some odd idea of friendship or caring or something similar, Luxord picked Tyche up and held her to Xigbar with a frown. Kittens made everything better, didn't they? Even if II did not like them, perhaps it would distract him enough from the pain. That infernal little keybrat...

Still, he sighed at Xigbar's useless assessment of his so called "victory." "Has it not occurred to you that he may have not been trying to kill you? I am sure you attempts were true, yes, but you must recall how often we've taken enjoyment of causing him guilt for murdering us. It would not surprise me that he would opt to incapacitate you rather than take your existence once again." Regardless of how much the two of them wanted Sora dead, it seemed the feelings were not mutual in that regard.

[identity profile] numberii.livejournal.com 2009-05-19 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Xigbar stared blankly at the kitten, especially when it mewed at him in an oh-so-adorable way. It made the Freeshooter remember that he had missed breakfast. "I prefer mine barbecued, you know that."

Still, it was neither food nor kittens that was the topic of conversation, and so Xigbar floated back to it as though he hadn't said anything at all. "Anyway, sure, maybe he might have wanted to hold back at the start, but I took care o' that. Made sure he knew that if he ran, I'd go after his little kiddy friends... and after the first shot or two, he was fightin' for his life. Guarantee it."

[identity profile] clockmongler.livejournal.com 2009-05-19 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
...Luxord blinked and placed Tyche on the ground, letting her scamper off. Never mind, then. He really should have seen that answer coming.

"Fighting for his life, perhaps, but not to end yours and thus is my point, my friend." Was II truly going to be that dense? Luxord hated to burst his bubble actually, he loved doing that and made a point to do so whenever possible, but it had to be done. Xigbar could not keep avoiding the truth. "Your last battle? The one where you perished? It was a fight to the death on both sides and you lost." He sighed, exasperated. "As did the rest of us. Why can you not see that?"

[identity profile] numberii.livejournal.com 2009-05-19 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Because I still don't buy it!" Xigbar's one eye narrowed, a sharper tone entering his voice as he narrowed his eye at Luxord. It burned, it set his lungs on fire to even raise his voice, but this was a point he was going to make. Even though he knew that Luxord was being reasonable, accurate, and was probably right, Xigbar didn't care. He was the freaking Freeshooter. It was a draw, and like heck he was going to admit that it was a lot closer to a 'loss' than that.

Still, he winced and had to bite his lips to avoid making a sound of pain. Man, this sucked! Wanting to argue down that neophyte's arguments and questions like anything, but not being able to do it because of his injuries? Sometimes he wondered if Sora wasn't secretly a sadist beneath that sweet exterior.

[identity profile] clockmongler.livejournal.com 2009-05-19 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
...it was always going to be like this, wasn't it? Xigbar was always going to run headlong into danger, to fight against that ridiculous boy and prove some imaginary point, and Luxord would always have to watch him die.

Again. And again. And again.

Fate was such a cruel mistress...

Really, though. If II was going to act like a child about this matter, X would treat him like one. Mainly by grabbing the other Nobody and pulling him into a hug. "There, there. Mummy'll always believe you tried your hardest to beat that middle-schooler." Whether it was purely for the purpose of taunting the Freeshooter or was entirely connected to that previous fretting was up to debate.

[identity profile] numberii.livejournal.com 2009-05-20 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Hey! What the heck?" Xigbar was utterly taken aback by Luxord's sudden combination of hugging and mockery- or it sure as anything felt like mockery, coming from him of all people- and for a moment his mind short-circuited as he tried to figure out what had happened.

In the end, he decided that if Luxord was going to be ambiguous as always, then so was Xigbar. He stayed in the hug, but shot back, "Always knew you were the chick of the relationship, dude. But that's creepy like anything, an' besides, he was a beach bum. Did they even have schools?"

[identity profile] clockmongler.livejournal.com 2009-05-20 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
The more II resisted, the longer X was going to hang onto him. Obviously the elder Nobody knew this, as he hadn't bothered moving out Luxord's grip. He was not about to say that he was oddly pleased with that.

He did, however, roll his eyes at Xigbar's false statement. "Yes, II. If you keep telling yourself that, perhaps it will come true. Believe in your masculinity! However bruised it may be from that run in with a fifteen year old." Not that he was about to bring attention to the fact that he also was beaten by said fifteen year old, but he at least died before anyone could rub it in his face. Oh wait. "And I believe they did. The princess went to one, remember?"

[identity profile] numberii.livejournal.com 2009-05-20 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, did she? Sucks to be her." Xigbar hadn't exactly enjoyed being at school, cutting class whenever he could- and often doing the same during Ansem's lectures, picking up his notes from his more studious counterparts afterward. No one could really explain how he actually did keep up with all of them despite that; he was just weird that way.

Speaking of weird, though, Xigbar rested his chin on Luxord's shoulder, as though that made it better for grousing. Or perhaps he just liked being there, where everyone could see it. Who could say? "In my defense, though, he's got an extender. That, an' it's not my ego that's bruised here. Didja know that the Keyblade still burns like anything? Even here, dude; that's just not cool!"

[identity profile] clockmongler.livejournal.com 2009-05-20 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
X had completely forgotten about that burn on his shoulder until II decided to rest his chin on it. Pain. He couldn't help flinching and letting out a brief hiss as that feeling of hurt ran down his spine. Letting go, however, was out of the question it would require effort. It had almost turned into a game, holding onto one another like this. Whoever let go first lost.

"And yet you continued fighting. The blame, I wonder, falls on whose shoulders?"

[identity profile] numberii.livejournal.com 2009-05-20 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
At the hissing and flinching, Xigbar raised his chin and looked at Luxord with a questioning expression. Now why the heck was the Nobody acting like that? Had he been beaten down too? Or was it something else?

In either case, there was no chance he'd explain why he moved. Was it because he cared, or just because there was a lot of damage Luxord could do? "You keep up the arguin' and something might fall on your shoulders."

[identity profile] clockmongler.livejournal.com 2009-05-20 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Ow ow ow ow. Luxord flinched again when Xigbar moved, but refused to let go all the same. He would not be beaten by a burn. He was better than that.

...it dawned on him that he was not going to enjoy being in the showers in the least, if simply being touched hurt that badly.

"Or perhaps my fist will fall into your face." If II wasn't going to try with the insults, X wasn't going to either.
