Day 41: Sun Room

Haseo's steps were heavy with the weight of righteous anger as he was escorted into the Sun Room, his posture so sullen and reluctant you could almost hear the nostalgic cry of an electric guitar. He was seething, and though perhaps it was a bit harder to be intimidating while wearing the uniform of an insane asylum and flanked by a bored-looking orderly, it was not for lack of trying.

Unfortunately, his nurse seemed unaffected by the act, and even with the cloud of failing to keep "Kai" away from "Peyton" hanging over her, remained determinedly cheerful. She merely said something about receiving a lecture later on, ignored his retorts, and assured him that it would be alright even though his internet stalker was in the same building. For the most part, Haseo tuned her babbling out after that, dismissing it as hopeless.

"...and usually this would be the time children would be taking showers, but you don't have to worry about that right now. Now then, le--"

"Wait. What?"

"Oh, all the children seventeen or under are separated right now while the adults go to the courtyard..."

"Hey, I'm not a kid you old--!"

"Oh of course you aren't dear, but you're not eighteen yet either, now are you?"

Haseo resisted the urge to do something rash, literally biting his tongue to keep quiet. But upon having the bulletin board pointed out to him, he shrugged off his anger for the most part and headed that way, fully intending to get more answers than he'd had time to receive during breakfast.

Well... at least Endrance is in another shower group, he thought, Thank god.

[Closed to Tsukasa, for now!]

Asch finished with the bulletin board and walked over to the couch. He hadn't noticed the other man there until he got up close, and was annoyed at himself for not paying attention. Sure, his thoughts were elsewhere, but he hated being so scattered.

In order to save face, he cleared his throat and said, "...Hello." He hoped he didn't sound too awkward, but small talk just wasn't his thing.

[feel free to beat me for lateness]

"Mm?" Cross blinked at the other man as he was joined on the sofa, then offered a friendly smile. He hadn't expected company, but it didn't annoy him, either. "Oh! Hello. Was there something you needed?"

He was probably just trying to get to know people, but it couldn't hurt to ask. There were only so many reasons anyone would approach him, after all. He was fairly glad to see that no one he knew had been brought here with the latest batch of patients. It left him alone, but them in better positions. Hopefully.

Asch shook his head. He knew he didn't have anything real to say, but losing face wasn't something he enjoyed doing.

"Just...saying hello, I guess," he said, trying to sound neutral and not irritated. He thought he even succeeded - for once.

"Oh! Well, then hello." Cross smiled brightly back at his strange visitor, continuing to pet the cat in his lap.

When someone crowed rather loudly not too far from where they were sitting, he paused and blinked owlishly. He didn't turn to look for the source. That would just be rude. He didn't say anything, either, because it wouldn't be polite to point it out. But how silly...

"My name is Cross." He recovered quickly, smiling at the red-head again. "It's a pleasure to meet you."

Asch turned toward the sound slightly, frowning. Some people in here were obviously here for a reason.

He turned back and nodded, but didn't smile. "I'm Asch. Uh, you too," he said. "Have you...been here long?"

He hoped that the other guy - Cross - had been here for awhile. Maybe then he'd have some answers.

Unfortunately, Asch was out of luck in that regard. Cross shook his head. "I've only been here a couple days." A good majority of the patient population had been around longer and would be far more helpful than him.

"I'd hope it doesn't become much longer than that, but escape doesn't appear to be an easy goal."

Asch frowned slightly. He had yet to talk to anyone who'd been here more than a week.

"Me too," he said. "I had a roommate at first, but he disappeared. The nurse said he was discharged, but I don't really think so."
