Night 40: F21-F30 Hallway

Skuld had slept through dinner, so Ururu did her very best to be quiet, even if she didn't like it much. It was harder not to have someone to talk to, especially when Fai-san and Kurogane were fighting on the bulletin again, and she still hadn't heard from Orihime or Shiki. That was why, when the doors opened, the girl was quick to head out. With Skuld still asleep, Ururu didn't feel too bad leaving the other girl on her own. Right now, it was important that she get to F3 before Orihime or Shiki had the chance to leave--especially if they were still sick.

And again, dinner was quiet, and thankfully so. It was slowly but surely becoming the only time of day that Yukari truly had to herself; she was far from antisocial, certainly, but all day was nothing but people all around, nurses on top of it, and through out it all there was nothing but worrying, conspiring, wondering when it would all come to an end... It felt so far away, and every time she mulled on it, talked about it, planned for it, Yukari wished it would all go away, like waking up from a dream. The temptation to just go to bed this one night in hopes that maybe, possibly that would happen was strong, in hopes that doing so would mean doing just that. It was tiresome in a way, but on her own she could unwind a little, daydream about other things that nobody would ever bother thinking about here. Whether it was silly or not, she didn't care-- it was some way to get her mind clearer and get her more mentally prepared for whatever was head of her for the night.

She had plans to follow through tonight with Akihiko and Junpei, because sleeping the feeling off wasn't ever going to get them a step further. That didn't mean this would, either, but at least doing this meant they could claim they tried.

Yukari had readied herself long before the lights went out. With her equipment in hand and her school uniform on, she set out to meet with the two.

Armed as usual with two spears across her back, several wooden staked hanging from her braided bandoleer and her sword, Falis decided after what happened with Senna, she'd see Hokuto. That club her girl was part of didn't have her listed on an assignment this night, so she was curious what Hokuto was going to be up to.

The princess leaned against the wall next to Hokuto's door and waited for her girl to leave the room.

[identity profile] akarusa.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
Was two pillowcases really enough? Hokuto studied them and debated if she should try to get some more; Falis and Senna shouldn't mind, at least.

She was taken by surprise when discovered Falis waiting for her, but her face lit up at the sight of her. "Good evening." This was definitely a good way to start the night. Maybe Falis didn't have anything to do tonight? Subaru shouldn't mind a third person joining them!

[identity profile] himetsuru.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Falis simply smirked, grabbed her the collar of her girlfriend's vest and pulled her into the kind of kiss a normal person wouldn't have in a place as public as a hallway of a hospital where anyone could walk by and watch.

Eh. Details.

"Hey there, pretty girl," she purred afterward.

[identity profile] akarusa.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Hokuto grinned, even as she turned a little pink. "Hey," she responded. "What're you up to tonight?"

If Falis asked her to stay in, she would have SUCH a hard time explaining why she couldn't...

[identity profile] himetsuru.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
"I got a hot date with an ice witch," Falis replied with a smirk. "Heh. Ami and me are gonna try to find a mikrobscobe tonight. I figure she's smart enough to know where to find one and I can kill the beasties that get in the way. Then I can see these cell thingies she's made up of. You know.. just in case."

Running her fingers through Hokuto's hair, being a little more touchy-feely than normal, she grinned. "What are you up to? I saw they don't got you working tonight. Shame I didn't know that earlier..."

[identity profile] akarusa.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Momo-chan wants me to... take it easy right now. I'm meeting Subaru to look for a couple of things ourselves in Patient Possessions." She was honestly looking forward to it, for several reasons.

"Where are you going?"

[identity profile] himetsuru.livejournal.com 2009-04-19 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
For some reason, the thought of Hokuto getting into the room where the vultures had all sorts of stuff, like the clothes they shoved her into for the trip to the town, brought about a feeling of foreboding. Not in the something's-going-to-eat-her-girl sense, but in the just plain old uh-oh sense.

"Oh, really?" The grin took on a bit of a nervous cast, but that's as much as she gave away. "I'm not sure where we're going, but I'm picking her up from her room."

She tilted her head, fingers moving from her girlfriend's hair to her neck, and said, "Let me walk you to where you're meeting your brother."

[identity profile] akarusa.livejournal.com 2009-04-21 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
Hokuto wondered what was giving Falis that reaction... it wasn't like she'd actually said what she was after! "Then shouldn't we pick up Ami-chan first?" Not that Subaru's room would be on their way, but it was more polite not to keep her waiting. Besides that, Hokuto hadn't seen her in a while.

[identity profile] himetsuru.livejournal.com 2009-04-21 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
"Nah..." Falis traced her nails along Hokuto's neck before playing with the hair at the back of the girl's neck. She wasn't even aware that she was being so tactile.

"She's still got those broken ribs, so I'll just head back to get her after dropping you off. Besides, this way we're not making your brother wait and I..." She grinned for a moment. "Will be able to kiss you a fine night before heading back without Ami blushing so bright she lights the entire fucking building up."

[identity profile] akarusa.livejournal.com 2009-04-21 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Hokuto laughed. "Sounds like a plan," she winked. Even though it might be just as bad or worse if Subaru saw them... well, she'd take that chance.

"Shall we?" It wouldn't do to keep anyone waiting for too long.

[identity profile] himetsuru.livejournal.com 2009-04-21 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
"Mm. Yes. Let's."

Falis took Hokuto's hand and brought it up to nip at her girl's knuckles affectionately before kissing them.

"I dunno where the fuck we're going, so you lead."

[identity profile] akarusa.livejournal.com 2009-04-21 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
"If my lady desires," Hokuto said, giving a deep bow and fighting not to smile. She did so love dating a princess.

The day was heavy, that was sure. And the night had started off strange--though she couldn't really say it was bad. Different. New. This place was full of stuff like that. New experiences, like Falis said. And Senna couldn't complain for that.

She switched into her uniform quickly, sliding the sword into her sash and grabbing her spear. Time for work, and more--to see if Momo was doing okay. They were with an unknown, so Senna probably couldn't outright ask... But she'd be watching the Shinigami.

Tightening her hair ribbon, she clapped her hands on her face twice and nodded. Right. Time for work.

Evangeline was hurrying down the hall soon after the doors unlocked. Rushing on the account of some nobody like this Landel guy was beneath her, but no matter how much she told herself that she had this nagging desire to get something done. Killing time was all well and good, but pride was an insistent thing and placating it by dismissing her present situation didn't completely satisfy it.

Didn't matter where she was going, so long as she got there fast..

from F21 to F30

How odd and convenient that the weapons-maker she was dealing with was in fact in the very same hallway as Chidori, if at the opposite end of it. Chidori doubted she would have much enjoyed lugging even the relatively small amount of metal she had any farther than that. In fact, she didn't much enjoy dragging it even this far, but sacrifices had to be made if she was going to be properly armed and capable of being more help to Junpei.

Rapping sharply on the door to F30, Chidori waited for a response and wondered what, exactly, this weapons-maker would be like. How would she take pipes and make them into an axe?

F30

[identity profile] innovator-skuld.livejournal.com 2009-04-23 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
Skuld had heard the intercom, but she was so deeply asleep that she barely stirred. The sharp rapping woke her, though, and she looked around in confusion before she realized. Still in F30, and Nightshift had started.

"Coming!" Oh, great... Skuld scrambled to grab her journal, then opened the door. "Uh--hi. Chidori?"

Re: F30

[identity profile] fear-attachment.livejournal.com 2009-04-23 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
Chidori was surprised to see such a young-looking girl answering the door, but none of her shock showed on her face. Was this the weapons-maker? Chidori wouldn't put anything past this strange place, and wasn't there a child in S.E.E.S., too? If the boy could have a persona, surely a little girl could have her own powers. "Yes."

Re: F30

[identity profile] innovator-skuld.livejournal.com 2009-04-23 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
"I'm Skuld." She stepped aside to let the other girl in, flipping through her journal as she did. She had that array somewhere...

Finally finding it (they all looked a lot alike), she ripped the page out and put it down. "So how much metal did you get?" She figured she could lay it out, then add whatever was needed from her stores.

Ugh, this was so embarrassing. Next time she wouldn't sleep through half the day.

Re: F30

[identity profile] fear-attachment.livejournal.com 2009-04-23 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
Chidori nodded, her internal questions answered, at least in part. The how of all this was still very much unknown, but at least who was taken care of. Chidori hefted the pillowcase and upended it, dumping out the three long u-shaped pipes from the bathroom sinks. "We had no tools. It was more difficult than expected."

Re: F30

[identity profile] innovator-skuld.livejournal.com 2009-04-23 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it was enough for the chain, and maybe for the ax handle. "Yeah, you have to kick them apart. My hammer's not too big, so it wasn't that hard." She went to her closet and dug around until she had enough extra. Okay, she had a perfectly done ax right next to the bag of pipes, but it wasn't really for throwing, and converting it wouldn't take much less energy than making a whole new one.

Turning back, she glanced at her bed... and saw that she'd never put Sigel away. Erk. Maybe Chidori wouldn't notice the little doll.

"Okay," she said, sitting down. "Is there anything you need to know?"

Re: F30

[identity profile] fear-attachment.livejournal.com 2009-04-26 01:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Chidori noticed the doll but, aside from briefly wondering where the girl got such a thing, she had no interest in it. She was much more concerned with the pile of metal, and took careful note of how much was added to her own supply. "I hope to be able to repay the metal you're loaning me tomorrow night."

What did she need to know? Chidori somehow doubted this little girl would be much help with the issue of sex, so she kept her questions related to the task at hand. "How well will it hold an edge?" The pipe metal wasn't exactly high-carbon steel.

Re: F30

[identity profile] innovator-skuld.livejournal.com 2009-04-27 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Skuld grimaced. "Not as good as steel, that's for sure. It won't stay razor-sharp for long, but it's good enough. Mostly." At least, she hadn't gotten any requests to sharpen what she'd made yet. Her own hammer was as good at the day it was made, but then again she'd used it maybe twice. At least it wasn't deteriorating on its own...

Re: F30

[identity profile] fear-attachment.livejournal.com 2009-04-28 08:22 am (UTC)(link)
Chidori nodded at the weaponsmith's explanation. A little better than she'd thought, not as good as she'd hoped. She'd simply have to try to use the axe as little as absolutely necessary--choosing caution and retreat over fighting when at all possible. Well, that was her preference in any case, so it would serve as a practical reason and reminder that discretion was most definitely the better part of valour in this place. "I don't believe I have any other questions."

Re: F30

[identity profile] innovator-skuld.livejournal.com 2009-05-02 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Okay." Skuld leaned forward to put her hands on the floor, fingertips brushing the edge of the paper there. "O element of earth..."

Sculpting an ax and chain out of metal pipes involved a lot of different steps, making it a lot harder than she'd expected. She'd learned how to pace herself a little, so she didn't doubt she could do it not that she would have anyway, but it was still definitely a strain. As the last of the chain linked itself together, she was aware of sweat beading on her forehead; she struggled to control both the power and herself until she could finish the job.

When the last link had been formed, she let go of the little trickle of power she'd still had and half-collapsed; she caught herself before she could really hit the floor, but she was left crouched on all fours, forehead lightly touching the floor and trying to catch her breath.

Maybe I should stop doing this with an audience.

Re: F30

[identity profile] fear-attachment.livejournal.com 2009-05-03 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
Fortunately--or perhaps unfortunately--for Skuld, Chidori wasn't the type to display concern for another, unless that someone was Junpei, or mattered to Junpei. So she left Skuld crouched on the floor and made no move to help her up, or even ask if she was okay. Instead, Chidori reached for the axe, lifting it carefully to measure its weight and balance. She also nicked her finger on the blade to test its sharpness--a little cut was nothing to her, naturally.

Re: F30

[identity profile] innovator-skuld.livejournal.com 2009-05-05 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
Skuld was glad not to be fussed over, but Chidori completely ignoring her did not make her happy. Grumbling to herself, she looked up in time to see the girl test the blade's edge by deliberately cutting herself.

Well. Maybe child-warriors were just like this.

"Like it?" she asked, a hint of the usual smirk playing across her lips. Chidori had better like it, given how she was getting it and who was making it.

Re: F30

[identity profile] fear-attachment.livejournal.com 2009-05-05 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
It wasn't as nice as her old axe, but even Chidori could figure out that it would be unwise to say that. Besides, it was definitely better than being unarmed, and probably as close as she would be able to come to her familiar weapon, around here. So all she said in response to the smith's question was, "Yes."

Re: F30

[identity profile] innovator-skuld.livejournal.com 2009-05-06 08:20 am (UTC)(link)
Skuld grinned, not even noticing that Chidori was at least partly just being polite, and scooted back to lean against her bed; at least that way she could sit up. "Good."

Re: F30

[identity profile] fear-attachment.livejournal.com 2009-05-07 08:10 am (UTC)(link)
Chidori wasn't exactly being polite--she wouldn't know how to do that if her life depended on it--she was just being less rude than she could, by saying only part of what she was thinking. It seemed to have worked, though, so she kept the tactic in mind for future interactions. "I'll get the metal you used replaced within the next few nights."
