Disciplinary Therapy Room 3 [MU for Kvothe]

Family really was such an important thing. And for him to have lost his at such an early age was really quite tragic and, she had to admit, in a way romantic. The struggle to avenge the deaths of those he’d loved, the desire to spare others from the same fate... It was what the best stories were made of. It was a pity that he’d lost some of that though. In her opinion, the hero of such a story should always remember the loss and strive to atone for it, to prevent it from happening again. So clearly it was up to her to make sure that she set him back on the right path.

And she’d make sure that she gave him every reason to remember what he’d lost and what he still stood to lose.

He would be waking up soon, so she took one last look over him, tracing the line of his cheek and jaw with a finger before returning to double check her supplies. Soon enough, they would be able to begin, and she’d be able to make sure he never forgot what was important.

Kvothe didn't respond as he watched Cinder, eyes wide despite his attempts to control his expression. The Chandrian was as chillingly graceful and cruel as Kvothe remembered him, but he couldn't be real. It was the drugs. The injection. That had to be it. He repressed a shudder as the nightmare smile came closer, he wasn't going to respond, it wasn't real. Maybe if he continued telling himself that enough he'd actually believe it, and the twinge of guilt at Cinder's words would go away.

Kvothe's jaw clenched as Cinder dug his finger into the still healing stab wound and he tried to surpress another jolt of fear. He'd been lucky before with that wound, he'd been very very lucky that nothing was permanently damaged, but if Cinder decided to do anything else to it he knew that he wouldn't be so lucky this time. Cinder would be sure of that. Even afraid and knowing this he met the Chandrian's stare, stubbornly defiant.

He tried to ignore the words, though he felt guilt twist his gut again. He knew that this was probably the reaction that his captor wanted and he was going to do his best to not show it.

He'd foolishly dared allow himself a moment of relief as Cinder took his thumb away from the wound in his hand, but it vanished as soon as he felt the grip on his finger. He couldn't help the small gasp that escaped him or the jolt of panic. His glare intensified when Cinder mentioned his parents, that monster knew nothing of his parents and it took all his restraint not to tell him so, but his thoughts were cut off when his finger snapped.

"AH!"

Kvothe squeezed his eyes shut against the pain and sickening fear, unwilling to let the Chandrian see it. He'd had a deep fear of damage to his hands since he was young, since he began playing the lute and here, unable to move, he was now afraid he'd only get out with no hand left. After a moment he tightly clenched his uninjured fingers into a fist and pressed them down against the table to make it more difficult for Cinder to grab them.

Kvothe didn't open his eyes to see the smirk, but he could hear Cinder step away. His ears strained to track him but he couldn't tell what he was doing, Kvothe wasn't sure if he should open his eyes yet or not. His jaw tightened when Cinder mentioned his parents again, but then the Chandrian mentioned Denna and Kvothe's eyes snapped open, dark with cold hate.

His attention was drawn though when the metal club was brought into the light and his eyes widened. He tried to flatten his hand to minimize the damage, but he couldn't move fast enough and the club came down on his still clenched fist.

Again there came a sickening sound of bones breaking, and this time, Cinder got something that he'd probably been hoping for. Kvothe screamed.

[identity profile] sir-savien.livejournal.com 2009-03-18 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Kvothe tried not to scream again as the shattered bones were ground together, but he couldn't fully hold back the strangled sound of pain, both physical and emotional. The shifting of the bones was probably causing damage to the ligaments, maybe nerves, he knows that his hand will never work right again and he feels a burning behind his eyes that has nothing to do with the injections. But he's not going to give Cinder the satisfaction of seeing him cry.

He cried out again as his hand was twisted, the pain clouding his mind made him miss part of what Cinder said but he caught the pertinant information. He took a breath, curses on the tip of his tongue, but let it out on a rush between his teeth and kept his silence. Still, he couldn't help feeling a shiver of fear, thinking of Denna, Wil and Sim, Sovoy, Fela, Mola, innocent and half-cracked Auri, even his roommate Tony. He didn't for a moment think that Cinder might be bluffing, he'd seen what was left of his troupe and the wedding at Trebon.

Kvothe tried to shift his head away from Cinder, but with the strap still across his forehead he couldn't move. He didn't have a chance to respond before the Chandrian's fist came swinging down and he screamed again as the pain made his vision grey out around the edges He could feel the dizziness hit him but his mind wasn't clear enough to register why it was familiar before he blacked out completely.

Yukari entered the room quietly, once more on high alert for new threats or lurking dangers. The room was much like the one they had found Elena in, though it lacked the strong smell of blood. A teenage boy was lying on a table, his bonds undone. He seemed to be unconscious.

The youkai approached slowly, deciding to look him over before getting too close. He didn't appear to be injured...

[identity profile] mizuhomaiden.livejournal.com 2009-03-24 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
Having quickly let go of the youkair's hair as soon as the tell-tale click of a door unlocking was heard, Sheena didn't even register Yukari's comment about trading ribbons. The ninja did currently have all the damn red ribbons Yukari had originally had in her hair, but Sheena had absently shoved them into the fold of her obi for safekeeping; she'd need her hands ready.

A single card drawn, she followed the youkai into the room, her eyes searching for any threats. Nothing. At least this room didn't smell like blood. Did the air have a metallic taste to it? No... it had to be her.

This one's restraints were already off, so the ninja moved to check the man's vitals. She put two fingers of her free hand to the man's neck checking his pulse.

"Hmmm." She furrowed her brow. "Hey..." She moved her hand from his neck to his shoulder, giving him the slightest of a shake.

Kvothe shifted for a moment before coming awake with a jolt, but he still wasn't fully aware of what was going on and who he was with. Not realizing that the doctor had left he panicked and struggled against the hand on his shoulder, but unfortunately the violent movement jostled the mangled remains of his hand. He cried out in pain and curled in on himself, clutching his wrist as he held it close to his chest protectively, in fear that it was going to be damaged further.

Yukari tensed when the boy woke and reacted in such a volatile manner, but it seemed her caution was once again unwarranted, at least for the moment. Looking for big, bloody gashes, she had obviously missed the poor condition of the boy's hand. Walking over to the table, the youkai came up beside Sheena and peered down curiously.

"What happened? What's wrong?" she asked, unable to get a good look at the injury with the limb tucked away as it was.

[identity profile] mizuhomaiden.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
Sheena immediately pulled her hand back when the boy jerked awake and very much did not want her touching him.

"Woah... Woah... We're here to help you," she said, moving around the head of the table to be on the opposite side as Yukari.

Deciding to let the youkai do the talking this time, Sheena kept her hands where they could easily be seen, the single card she'd had in hand no longer there, and readied herself to hold him down if he decided to attack either of them.

Kvothe took a few deep breaths and his head cleared a little as he realized that the voices didn't sound familiar. Not Cinder. Not the doctor either as far as he could tell. He opened his eyes, looking confused and disoriented as he carefully propped himself up on the elbow of his uninjured arm. This wasn't where he'd been. No, wait, yes it was. Before Cinder. When she'd...he cringed away from that thought and focused on the girls standing on either side of him. "Who are you?" His voice was a little rough, from screaming, from trying not to scream, and his jaw aches from being clenched so tightly. He kept his mangled hand protectively close to his chest.

"We're from the clinic," said Yukari simply, stepping closer but still not laying a hand on him. Names probably weren't too important, since he didn't seem to recognize either of them and this wasn't exactly the environment for introductions. "We're here to help."

Technically true, even if Yukari's motives hardly lay in that direction; helping him was a means to an end. What she really wanted was to know just what went on; she was curious, especially after the unsatisfactory "some magic from her world that's not really like the Devil Arms" explanation for the last victim.

"Can you tell us what happened?" she asked, uncharacteristically business-like. She paused, then added, "We need to know what kind of injuries do you have."

They just wanted to know so they knew what needed treatment or help. Yeah, that was all. There was no need for him to go into details. Of course not; asking a trauma victim for such information was just insensitive. This was definitely for the sake of effective medical treatment, not probing for information.

[identity profile] mizuhomaiden.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 08:45 am (UTC)(link)
That businesslike tone did not escape Sheena's attention. She gave Yukari a slightly disapproving look, but she didn't call the youkai on it.

"Here... Let me see your hand," the ninja said softly. "Please? I need to see how badly it's injured."

[identity profile] sir-savien.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 09:07 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't remember seeing you there." Granted, the first time he'd been to the clinic he'd been rather busy trying not to bleed to death, and the second time he hadn't been there for very long. That didn't really factor in for him at the moment, the whole ordeal had dredged up the responses ingrained in him during his time in Tarbean and he was still sizing them up as potential threats and gauging the possibility of making a run for it if needed. He felt cornered with them on either side of him, especially after what just happened, and in his experience nothing good ever came from that. He just ignored the request to see his hand, irrationally afraid of making the damage any worse. It probably couldn't get all that much worse aside from deliberately severing tendons or removing it entirely.

[identity profile] mind-the-sukima.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 09:41 am (UTC)(link)
Yukari just sighed at the boy's lack of cooperation and didn't really pay the ninja's glare much head, though she let her posture relax a little.

"Well, I'm kind of new to it," she admitted, her tone slightly softer. She reached a hand towards him slowly, though made no actual move yet to try and grab anything. "Now, please, at least the hand? We can't really help otherwise."

The youkai kept her attitude patient for now, still intent to succeed in her original goals for the evening of assisting the whole clinic/rescue operation. She could wait. She wasn't a child who couldn't be happy without instant gratification of her curiosity. Well, most of the time.

[identity profile] mizuhomaiden.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"She's right," Sheena added on. "And I'm Sheena. Raine, from the Clinic, is one of my friends; she and I are from the same world. We're only here to help."

Despite what the youkai may or may not be planning. The ninja wasn't sure, so she decided to take Yukari, for the moment, at face value with her sincerity to help. It was one of the best things the youkai could do to try to get Sheena to actually trust her a little.

"I can do some basic first aid and then we can get you to the Clinic for healing. But, please, you need to tell us where you;re hurt and let us look."

[identity profile] sir-savien.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
He instinctively shifted away from the extended hand as it was held out, in the mindset he'd gotten himself into any hand coming toward him was more than likely a bad thing. It only made him more anxious, and made him felt more cornered. If it got too bad he might lash out and run for it, without recognizing until later that it was a dumb though to do. "I don't need any first aid." Well really, he just figured that his hand was beyond what simple first aid could do for it.

[identity profile] mind-the-sukima.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"Of course you don't, you just like cradling your hand protectively for no reason," said Yukari, her tone only slightly patronizing. She didn't try to reach any closer, but she did take a step forwards so that she was almost right up against the edge of the table. What was clinic policy on people who were too dumb to didn't want help?

"If you don't want help here, will you at least agree to accompany us back to the Clinic?" asked the youkai calmly. If he disagreed here, the next step was restraining him and forcing medical treatment. Yukari didn't often save people from their own stupidity, but considering the nature of this mission, is seemed like she might have to make an exception.
