Disciplinary Therapy Room 3 [MU for Kvothe]

Family really was such an important thing. And for him to have lost his at such an early age was really quite tragic and, she had to admit, in a way romantic. The struggle to avenge the deaths of those he’d loved, the desire to spare others from the same fate... It was what the best stories were made of. It was a pity that he’d lost some of that though. In her opinion, the hero of such a story should always remember the loss and strive to atone for it, to prevent it from happening again. So clearly it was up to her to make sure that she set him back on the right path.

And she’d make sure that she gave him every reason to remember what he’d lost and what he still stood to lose.

He would be waking up soon, so she took one last look over him, tracing the line of his cheek and jaw with a finger before returning to double check her supplies. Soon enough, they would be able to begin, and she’d be able to make sure he never forgot what was important.

Kvothe shifted for a moment before coming awake with a jolt, but he still wasn't fully aware of what was going on and who he was with. Not realizing that the doctor had left he panicked and struggled against the hand on his shoulder, but unfortunately the violent movement jostled the mangled remains of his hand. He cried out in pain and curled in on himself, clutching his wrist as he held it close to his chest protectively, in fear that it was going to be damaged further.

Yukari tensed when the boy woke and reacted in such a volatile manner, but it seemed her caution was once again unwarranted, at least for the moment. Looking for big, bloody gashes, she had obviously missed the poor condition of the boy's hand. Walking over to the table, the youkai came up beside Sheena and peered down curiously.

"What happened? What's wrong?" she asked, unable to get a good look at the injury with the limb tucked away as it was.

[identity profile] mizuhomaiden.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
Sheena immediately pulled her hand back when the boy jerked awake and very much did not want her touching him.

"Woah... Woah... We're here to help you," she said, moving around the head of the table to be on the opposite side as Yukari.

Deciding to let the youkai do the talking this time, Sheena kept her hands where they could easily be seen, the single card she'd had in hand no longer there, and readied herself to hold him down if he decided to attack either of them.

Kvothe took a few deep breaths and his head cleared a little as he realized that the voices didn't sound familiar. Not Cinder. Not the doctor either as far as he could tell. He opened his eyes, looking confused and disoriented as he carefully propped himself up on the elbow of his uninjured arm. This wasn't where he'd been. No, wait, yes it was. Before Cinder. When she'd...he cringed away from that thought and focused on the girls standing on either side of him. "Who are you?" His voice was a little rough, from screaming, from trying not to scream, and his jaw aches from being clenched so tightly. He kept his mangled hand protectively close to his chest.

"We're from the clinic," said Yukari simply, stepping closer but still not laying a hand on him. Names probably weren't too important, since he didn't seem to recognize either of them and this wasn't exactly the environment for introductions. "We're here to help."

Technically true, even if Yukari's motives hardly lay in that direction; helping him was a means to an end. What she really wanted was to know just what went on; she was curious, especially after the unsatisfactory "some magic from her world that's not really like the Devil Arms" explanation for the last victim.

"Can you tell us what happened?" she asked, uncharacteristically business-like. She paused, then added, "We need to know what kind of injuries do you have."

They just wanted to know so they knew what needed treatment or help. Yeah, that was all. There was no need for him to go into details. Of course not; asking a trauma victim for such information was just insensitive. This was definitely for the sake of effective medical treatment, not probing for information.

[identity profile] mizuhomaiden.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 08:45 am (UTC)(link)
That businesslike tone did not escape Sheena's attention. She gave Yukari a slightly disapproving look, but she didn't call the youkai on it.

"Here... Let me see your hand," the ninja said softly. "Please? I need to see how badly it's injured."

[identity profile] sir-savien.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 09:07 am (UTC)(link)
"I don't remember seeing you there." Granted, the first time he'd been to the clinic he'd been rather busy trying not to bleed to death, and the second time he hadn't been there for very long. That didn't really factor in for him at the moment, the whole ordeal had dredged up the responses ingrained in him during his time in Tarbean and he was still sizing them up as potential threats and gauging the possibility of making a run for it if needed. He felt cornered with them on either side of him, especially after what just happened, and in his experience nothing good ever came from that. He just ignored the request to see his hand, irrationally afraid of making the damage any worse. It probably couldn't get all that much worse aside from deliberately severing tendons or removing it entirely.

[identity profile] mind-the-sukima.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 09:41 am (UTC)(link)
Yukari just sighed at the boy's lack of cooperation and didn't really pay the ninja's glare much head, though she let her posture relax a little.

"Well, I'm kind of new to it," she admitted, her tone slightly softer. She reached a hand towards him slowly, though made no actual move yet to try and grab anything. "Now, please, at least the hand? We can't really help otherwise."

The youkai kept her attitude patient for now, still intent to succeed in her original goals for the evening of assisting the whole clinic/rescue operation. She could wait. She wasn't a child who couldn't be happy without instant gratification of her curiosity. Well, most of the time.

[identity profile] mizuhomaiden.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"She's right," Sheena added on. "And I'm Sheena. Raine, from the Clinic, is one of my friends; she and I are from the same world. We're only here to help."

Despite what the youkai may or may not be planning. The ninja wasn't sure, so she decided to take Yukari, for the moment, at face value with her sincerity to help. It was one of the best things the youkai could do to try to get Sheena to actually trust her a little.

"I can do some basic first aid and then we can get you to the Clinic for healing. But, please, you need to tell us where you;re hurt and let us look."

[identity profile] sir-savien.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
He instinctively shifted away from the extended hand as it was held out, in the mindset he'd gotten himself into any hand coming toward him was more than likely a bad thing. It only made him more anxious, and made him felt more cornered. If it got too bad he might lash out and run for it, without recognizing until later that it was a dumb though to do. "I don't need any first aid." Well really, he just figured that his hand was beyond what simple first aid could do for it.

[identity profile] mind-the-sukima.livejournal.com 2009-03-25 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"Of course you don't, you just like cradling your hand protectively for no reason," said Yukari, her tone only slightly patronizing. She didn't try to reach any closer, but she did take a step forwards so that she was almost right up against the edge of the table. What was clinic policy on people who were too dumb to didn't want help?

"If you don't want help here, will you at least agree to accompany us back to the Clinic?" asked the youkai calmly. If he disagreed here, the next step was restraining him and forcing medical treatment. Yukari didn't often save people from their own stupidity, but considering the nature of this mission, is seemed like she might have to make an exception.

[identity profile] mizuhomaiden.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
"She has a point," Sheena added on, getting a little frustrated herself. The ninja wasn't exactly known for her patience and she was considering knocking this boy back out and just carrying him down to the Clinic.

Except she still didn't know the extent of his injuries and, as she'd told someone (she couldn't remember who), Sheena was only capable of healing herself. Maybe it'd been Tamaki she'd told that to her first night. Regardless, it didn't matter.

"What's your name?"

Out of the boy's line of sight, but where the youkai could see, Sheena flicked her wrist and had a single card in hand as she mentally reviewed the potential seals she had available to her here and which one she might need.

[identity profile] sir-savien.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
When the first girl stepped up against the edge of the table, that was just too much for him in the mindset he was in. He didn't really focus on whatever else the two said as he looked back and forth between them, anxiously. He didn't answer their question, even to tell them his name. Abruptly he went from sitting stiffly still on the table, to shooting toward the end of it, meaning to jump off and race for the door. He couldn't stand being cornered, and he couldn't hold back the usual response to it ingrained by three years on the streets: running like hell.

When the boy made a run for it, Yukari's first impulse was to try and catch him with her parasol, an item unlikely to cause too much damage in a bludgeoning capacity. Fortunately for Kvothe, she remembered she was holding her flashlight, an item quite capable of inflicting blunt trauma, not the parasol and stopped herself. It cost her a second though, so when she lunged with her other hand to try and grab at the back of his shirt, she wasn't sure she'd make it. Hopefully the ninja would be better able to stop him before he got out the door; once in the hall, he had a good chance of just running off since it didn't seem his legs were injured, and who knew what sort of nastiness he would encounter in his attempt to flee. Probably nothing good, considering his condition.

[identity profile] mizuhomaiden.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Sheena had been prepared for this. She'd hoped it wouldn't come to it, but unlike Elena, this boy was very much reacting on instinct. Fight or flight, it seemed, and he'd chosen flight. She supposed it was moderately better than fight, mostly because she had a feeling the boy would have attacked Yukari and for some irritating reason, Sheena didn't like that thought. But, the problem with running off was that there were too many monsters out there and she doubted the boy could properly defend himself with his hand like that.

As soon as he started to move, Sheena slapped the card she had in hand onto his leg. It wasn't enough to remotely hurt, no more than a hand placed there would, but in the boy's state she didn't know how he'd react. If he took it as an attack, so be it if it caused him to turn to fight her instead of the youkai. A single hand seal was formed and the ninja's mana activated the card in her Force Seal to hold him temporarily in place, assuming this damn ranch hadn't robbed her of this basic seal as it had her advanced pacts.

Taking faith that her seal would work as she felt the mana being active, Sheena followed it up in an attempt to grapple the boy and place him in a restraining hold that really shouldn't hurt him, a lot like the one she'd put on Soubi a couple nights back, but without knowing the extent of his injuries, she wasn't sure how much pain she may be causing him.

This sucked. Where were the others?

[identity profile] sir-savien.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Kvothe felt the hand grab at the back of his shirt and another land on his leg and it only made him try to move faster, however his leg suddenly seemed frozen in place. He would have gone sprawling had the girl not suddenly grabbed him, but the restraint was also what abruptly sent him into a blind panic. He struggled, fighting like a cornered alleycat, he'd kick, scratch or bite if he could free himself enough to do so. He was stronger than he looked, but with the damage to his hand and the lingering disorientation of the drugs he probably wasn't as effective as he'd hoped to be.

The frantic movement only made the pain from his hand worse and couldn't be doing anything good for the broken bones in it, but at the moment all his thoughts narrowed down to getting away from the person holding him. Being held down only led to worse things.

[identity profile] mind-the-sukima.livejournal.com 2009-03-26 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Yukari felt her hand latch onto the back of the boy's shirt just as Sheena slapped one of her seals on his leg. Was she going to blow him up? It seemed, though, that this bit of magic had a different purpose. Between his leg seizing up and Yukari's hold, it gave enough time for the ninja to grab him, at which point the youkai let go, now that her arm was just getting in the way. She instead circled around in front of them so that she stood between the boy and the door.

"Hey, stop that. You're just going to hurt yourself," she hissed sharply, deciding that yelling would only aggravate the problem. She wanted to help restrain him, but with everything flailing about, including that injured hand and who-knew-what-else, it would probably cause more harm than good to stick her arm in there.

[identity profile] mizuhomaiden.livejournal.com 2009-03-27 12:12 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, good, that seal worked here, though it didn't last as long as it normally did, Sheena noted as the boy was only momentarily held in place before he started flailing about.

The good thing about being ninja was that Sheena's hand-to-hand techniques were far stronger than any of her weapon skills (the cards didn't count), so she knew more than enough ways to keep the boy grappled. He was fighting back, though, but she'd been expecting it. Instead of trying to block any of the haphazardly thrown attacks in the boy's panic, Sheena focused on keeping him held in place, trusting Yukari to find a way to calm him down.

Even as she took an elbow to the face, blood trickling down from her lip, she really didn't want to have to knock him out.

[identity profile] sir-savien.livejournal.com 2009-03-27 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
There was no calming him down at this point, the closest they could hope for was immobilizing him entirely or knocking him out. He didoesn't stop struggling, if anything it only got worse when one of them moved between him and the way out. He was frightened and completely panicked, and it showed in his voice when he yelled, "Let me go!"

He still didn't know who these people were, but they they were holding him down and in his mind that made them as much of a threat as the doctor and Cinder.

[identity profile] mind-the-sukima.livejournal.com 2009-03-27 05:32 am (UTC)(link)
The boy was just not listening. Why couldn't he just curl and cry like a good little trauma victim? They were so much easier to deal with.

"First, calm down," said Yukari firmly, still managing to keep her cool. This was a rescue operation, so it'd be more than a little ironic if they caused further harm. However, that thought was pushed aside when he got Sheena in the face; there was something irritating, no, angering about seeing him draw blood, even if it wasn't too grievous an injury. With barely a thought (well, maybe one or two, both moderately unpleasant), the youkai slapped him moderately hard, not enough to injure, but certainly enough to sting and, hopefully, get him to pause for a second and pay attention.

"You stop that right now!" she barked. They came to help. Why couldn't humans be a little more grateful?

[identity profile] mizuhomaiden.livejournal.com 2009-03-27 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
"There are things out there that will eat you if we let you go," Sheena managed to get in before she took another blow to the face in the midst of the flailing. At least she'd seen this one coming well enough to turn her head to the side so she took a forearm instead of an elbow. She really didn't care for the taste of blood in her mouth.

The ninja was surprised by Yukari's reaction. The youkai had been doing a decent job keeping calm and trying to talk him down, but then she slapped him? Okay, Sheena couldn't blame her for doing it, especially since she was one more blow to the face from just going ahead and knocking the boy out.

Still, it actually looked like Yukari was... angry or something. This was a new experience.

[identity profile] sir-savien.livejournal.com 2009-03-27 06:14 am (UTC)(link)
Kvothe wasn't conciously processing what they were actually saying anymore. The slap stunned him for a moment as she yelled at him and he tried to pull back, but the the other was still holding onto him. It only reinforced his increasing terror and need to escap, nothing good would come of submitting. If anything, his efforts to free himself intensified.

[identity profile] mind-the-sukima.livejournal.com 2009-03-27 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
There was a brief moment of satisfaction before Yukari noticed that he wasn't snapping out of it; if anything, he was panicking worse now. Taking a moment to calm down, a process not helped by another arm to Sheena's face, Yukari drew in a deep breath. The "talk to him" strategy did not seem to be working. So the youkai turned her attention to the only other person worth talking to in the room right now.

"Can't you just put him in some kind of ninja sleeper hold and turn it off?" she suggested tiredly. As appealing as letting the kid go and run into the first thing with a lot of teeth and and empty stomach was, Yukari was determined to have a successful rescue, even if it meant dragging the kid's beaten, unconscious (or better yet, beaten unconscious) form back to the Clinic.

[identity profile] mizuhomaiden.livejournal.com 2009-03-27 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
And there was strike three. This one actually caused Sheena to grunt a little as the cut on her lip opened a bit more.

"Done," she said to Yukari, shifting her hold to put pressure on the right points on the boy's neck, ignoring the other minor hits she took to her body to do so. As sad as it was, the ninja was probably going to be a little sore in the morning.

"You're not really hearing me now," she said to the boy as she hastened to knock him unconscious out in the quickest and least painful method she knew, "but we truly don't mean you harm. Forgive me, but this is for your own good."

[identity profile] sir-savien.livejournal.com 2009-03-27 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
He felt the shifting grip on his neck, but didn't realize what the girl intended until his vision started going dark around the edges. He'd lost conciousness twice that evening already, the first time he woke up bound to a table, the second time he woke he'd been attacked by these two girls. He lashed out against the girl holding him this time with intent to hurt and he tried to cry out, but he already felt himself weakening and the only sound he managed was a wordless cry that trailed off as he slumped into unconciousness.
