Nightshift 39: West Wing, South Hall 1-B

[From here]

Yukari peered up and down the hallway, deciding against shining her flashlight this way and that; she didn't particularly want to attract any monstrous attention. Mentally going over the maps, she tried to remember where she was going. Ritsuka had said M35, right? So that was the next block over... she'd have to go through the West Hall, but hopefully could get through without getting attacked her first night.

M35... why did that ring a bell?

Giving a shrug, the youkai headed on her way.

Oh, good. She had skills. Bourne had to try and keep from smiling as he remembered the locks on Vosen's safe. "Fingerprint and voice scanners are easy enough to beat, if you know what you're doing."

The asset shrugged. "Do you think they get sent home? Working for Landel seems to be a full-time job. I haven't seen any, but I hear that they get about as much sleep as we do...and they don't look like they do in daylight." Meaning, if that was true, then if you disabled all of them at night, would they be similarly incapacitated in the morning? He was almost disappointed that he hadn't been able to detain the nurse that had come for S.T. until the doors unlocked themselves and seen for himself.

"And you have time to prepare. Or," Daphne added, grin widening in a flash of almost impish amusement, "You manage to get someone to open it for you. That's always nice and convenient."

She bit her lip, weighing her response before shrugging and saying, "Well, maybe. It's kinda remarkable what people can go home after and still sleep at night. You know, just a job. But if they go all Twilight Zone after sundown, I guess we better avoid the employee lounge, huh?"

She bounced to her feet, quick but still within the normal human range of motion, if only barely. It was hard to remind herself to keep her ability in check, not to rely on it until she knew what its boundaries were. Even though she knew she was hampered and had to be careful, caution didn't come naturally.

Bourne nodded. Too true. The images of Hirsch standing in the corridor at the training facility, Abbott in the hotel room, and Conklin in the safehouse flashed in front of his eyes. It really was remarkable.

"I don't know about you, but I don't have any plans to go looking for them," he said dryly. The way Daphne got up was interesting - it was plain to see that she was a runner. "Did you want to get your file, or do you think there might be something useful in your possessions?"

"Are they our possessions, or are they supposed to reinforce the whole you aren't who you think you are theme they've got going?" Daphne asked. "'Cause I'd have a few things that might escape notice, but I don't have any idea who Joy Byrd even is. Should be able to find something I can use as a lock pick to let us into the more interesting areas, though."

She raked one hand through her pale hair, brow furrowing as she thought. "I'm guessing they probably don't actually go ahead and admit what they know and how right in our files, do they?"
