Nightshift 39: West Wing, North Hall 1-A

Miles slowed again as he entered the hallway, due to another sharp spike of pain in his head. This time, it was accompanied by a louder rumble, one that almost sounded like garbled words.

He swept the beam of his flashlight from side to side. "Now, see? Nothing - and no one - is there," he muttered, hoping that would silence the voice's insistent worry. It was starting to get both annoying and worrisome at the same time. What was making it react like this? He couldn't think of anything, and the intercom announcement hadn't indicated anything particularly worrisome, either.

He sighed and continued down the hallway, continuing to scan for anything in the shadows with each step.

So Diego thought he knew everything, huh? It was bad enough that he was walking so slowly, but now he felt the need to delay their progress even further!

"Yeah, there may be outdoors that way, but there are also the more dangerous monsters out there, too," Porky said in an informative, yet aggravated, tone, "You may run into dangerous things in here, but out there? You'd get ripped to shreds. Plus, you'd just wind up back here when it's daytime, anyway. I don't know how he does it, but Landel knocks us all out and brings us back here at dawn. If we want to escape, we're going to have to take down Landel. I know that trying to just run away may seem like the most logical choice, but it's actually a very poor decision. Taking all that into account, let's just head over to the main hall, shall we?"

Porky turned around and continued walking towards the main hall, expecting Diego to follow.

Diego lingered in one spot a few more moments, wrestling between following what he thought was the right thing to do and what the talking human claimed was the right thing to do. In the end, he turned and continued following Porky Minch, sliding his right hand along the wall for support as he walked. The saber still had no idea where he was, and it was obvious Porky Minch knew a lot more than he did. Until he figured it out for himself, Diego was going to stick with what the human said.
