Day 39: Intercom, Evening

The Head Doctor seemed a little rushed as he spoke on the intercom, not taking as much pleasure as he usually did in describing the delicious food that would soon be served.

"Hello, everyone! Tonight is turkey night, which means turkey breast in a great turkey gravy with some nice turkey sides: peas, herb potatoes, a small garden salad, and for dessert, a slice of pumpkin pie. We of course have vegetarian substitutes available, as well as our usual assortment of drinks.

"...I believe that's it! I'll talk to you soon!"

The intercom clicked off abruptly.

Utena wasn't sure what to expect once her friend did arrive. Sure, Himemiya would beleive that she was real now, but there was obviously a lot of other damage that had been done that had ravaged the girl's personality, it seemed. What exactly would she find out, if Himemiya was willing to share it at all?

She lifted up her own notebook after Naoto pointed to hers, though she didn't open it up yet. "Same here. I don't usually write so much, but it feels like there's so much to learn that I'll forget all the important bits if I don't keep track of it in some way. Your notes are probably a lot better than mine, since you'd be used to writing more than me," she said with soft laugh. "I think the only thing I learned that wasn't also on the board was from a man named Armand. He said that he's looking to put together some sort of organized item courier service that'll work mostly outside the bulletins, so keep an ear out for that in the near future, I guess."

Using a journal to store all her information wasn't a method Naoto used much-- she trusted her mind enough, and all her jobs were with the police force anyway. They were the ones who kept everything to know on a case, all there for her to access when needed... so long as she was still in the investigation team at the time. But that didn't mean Naoto couldn't do it, and she had no opinion on whether Utena thought she was a better note taker or not. "If you want to take a look, then by all means, you're welcome to it," she offered. "I don't intend to keep any of this to myself."

Curiously, she looked up towards the other girl in interest. "A courier service?" Naoto echoed. "I've read mentions of others needing to gather certain materials in order to create something with it-- weapons, mainly. Is it in relation to that?"

"Thanks for the offer. I might have a look sometime tomorrow. I don't think my hand's up for writing down anything else right now," Utena said with an embarrassed chuckle, holding up her right hand and bending it back and forth to indicate the soreness there.

Utena tilted her head, trying to think. "I suppose it could include that. Couriers could probably deliver finished weapons to people from the alchemists or the clubs. But I think he said it would include general stuff too, sort of like R's item finding service only with a group instead of just one person. He said that he mainly wanted to start it so that people who don't have so much physical skill can still contribute something to everyone's efforts while staying safe," she explained as best she could, though it was hard considering Armand hadn't given her many specific details.

"Very well," Naoto replied, a hint of amusement in her voice. That was something she would've expected to hear from one of their group study sessions back home after school. She definitely wouldn't have called all of them the most diligent students out there with some of the things that came up during them. "I'll likely have more by then."

She then listened to the idea, one that, she had to say, sounded like a helpful one. As if she were approving the idea, Naoto gave a slight nod once Utena finished. "I believe something like that could work, if only to make our routines and nightly missions follow through that much more faster. Time is something that cannot be wasted here."
