Day 38: Game Room

She’d never been in the Game Room before.

It didn’t look spectacularly interesting, she had to admit… but it’d be more fun than just hanging out in the Sun Room, right? Yuffie idly thumbed through a deck of cards, walking around the room to examine various bits and pieces. Board games, video games, chess… No really awesome prank material that she could see, but maybe she could rope somebody into a game of poker? That could be fun, but… ah, then again, most of the patients were just like her -- they didn’t have anything really cool that she could swindle out of them. Not until Nightshift, anyway.

Still! She’d keep it in mind. It wasn’t like there was anybody else in the room yet anyway, so any potential swindling would have to wait a little while. What could she do in the meantime, huh? Pick- pocketing a nurse could be fun..! Wait -- no, not when it was quiet like this. She’d have to wait until there was more cover, unless she got distracted. Yuffie hadn’t stolen anything in days, not since that time in Doyleton, with the Kaito kid…

Yuffie smirked. That had been fun.

The nurses, apart from being guards, also had the daily task of herding. People had to be herded in specific directions, and more precisely, into specific groups. Individuals were not allowed. It was strange, but not stranger than anything else they were forced to do during the day.

The man the nurses had decided to move over in order to prevent individuals sitting alone was bandaged, and didn't look eager to start a conversation. This was actually a change, since many of the people the Commander had encountered were talkative, aside from Celes at night. Finding himself looked at, the Commander looked back, equally blankly. He did speak up, not out of discomfort but to get information if possible. "Are you a member of a Club here?"

Shito wasn't particularly inclined to be helpful, especially not to someone who hadn't even had the politeness to introduce himself before blurting out questions, but discussing the club, however briefly, might be a distraction from his misery. "Yeah. History Club." He didn't give his name, either, since the rude man hadn't offered his own.

Introductions were not his strong point, any more than manners in general. But it seemed his question had gotten a useful answer, so he followed it up. "Do you think you've had success with that group?"

The bandages weren't a good sign, but being injured while accomplishing something was better than wasting the night entirely.

"My luck's been shit." But that was the case with or without the History Club. "You could look at the report post from this morning, if you want to know how other people did." Success or lack thereof didn't seem to be reserved for any group in particular, though--as far as Shito could tell, it was just luck of the draw, whether you ran into one of the monsters or ran out of night.

"Do you think that the History Club is the most likely to succeed in finding the way to leave this place?" Junior had talked about revenge, but revenge was a side issue. As long as he could return to his duties, it didn't matter unless Master Porky said it did.

Looking at records of the groups might be useful, too, but with so little real knowledge of how this Institute worked still, he wasn't sure he'd be able to recognize which had the best success and the most failures, and what was really important in each category. The man was answering questions, though, and the personal response seemed more useful somehow.
