She didn't pause, only noting that the halls were empty for once. It seemed that she was one of the first out. It didn't matter in the long run. She was focused on her tasks; nothing else registered.
As she turned from one dark hall into the next, Anise realized she should have checked with her partner to make sure he was bringing a flashlight. He had to have one, right? It seemed like everyone had one except her.
There had been a few notes about lost flashlights on the bulletin earlier though, she recalled. Some people had even listed places to find replacements. Anise would have to try to remember them, and grab one for herself one of these nights. She couldn't depend on other people to bring theirs all the time, could she?
Fortunately, light wasn't something she needed at the moment. Anise knew the way too well to have any trouble navigating these halls.
