damned_institute | Day 36: Intercom, Evening

The intercom's jingle rang out and the somewhat uninhibited movement that was going on between the main activity rooms halted as the Head Doctor made one of his usual announcements.

"Good evening everyone, and I'm very pleased to see so many of you in such high spirits after meeting with your loved ones! However, like with all good things, it can't last forever, so I ask now for nurses to escort our patients in the waiting rooms and in the main areas back to their rooms, where they will be treated with a special Sunday... steak! That's right: today, we'll be serving juicy, delicious steak with fries and cooked vegetables on the side – simple enough for everyone to like and good enough for everyone to thoroughly enjoy! (Our patients with specialized diets will receive their alternate meals, of course.) Our usual beverages are available, and for dessert, we'll be serving warm slices of apple pie.

"After all, patients, t's always wonderful to see all of you cooperating with the staff even when given so much freedom, so I'd like to personally thank and congratulate all of you for helping us, your family, and more importantly, yourselves. Hopefully, we can help you to a speedy recovery so that you can see your loved ones more often, but first... dinner! I hope to speak with you all again soon."

The intercom clicked off.

On an added note, just wanted to clarify to players of characters who are canonly vegetarians and the like that you get to decide (within reasonable and realistic limits) what kind of diet your character gets from the staff. :3 ]

"Wow. If I visit you, remind me not to go around slapping people, ok?" Not that he was in the habit of such things. Unless provoked. "Does the same apply to punching?"

Hmm. "There's not that much between girls and boys other than positions and, err, results," he pointed out. "We could dress you like a girl? We're really good at that sort of thing. But we'll make him love you. Can't be too hard."

Maybe there was a witch or something here. You just needed fingernails for love potions, didn't you? And all those commoner tricks! Like writing names on things.... did you write their name on your stuff or your name on theirs....?

Wolfram shook his head. "Although I don't recommend that either unless you're trying to start a fight..."

He shifted a little on the mattress, more than a little embarrassed at the way the conversation was headed. But he wasn't about to admit to it.

"I've... tried a few things. I've been sleeping in a pink nightgown at home when we're in bed. To try and make him more comfortable. I don't understand why it's a big deal though. Same sex relationships aren't uncommon in my world, but he can't seem to accept that."

"Hey. We don't start fights, we finish them." Ok, they totally started them, but not physical fights. Not intentionally. Pretty much. Well, you know how it is...

Kaoru quickly bit his lip, but it wasn't enough. He sniggered. And snorted. And covered his face while he giggled. A nightdress?! Ok, so he'd suggested cross dressing but...it hadn't been an entirely serious idea. And if they were going to do it, they were going to do it as properly as this place would allow!

"I'm sorry," he wheezed. He held himself and squeezed out the last few chuckled before wiping the joyful tears from his eyes. "I'm sorry," he repeated. "Hey. It's hard to believe but our friend wasn't gay before he got here. We can find out how Ed turned him. I'm pretty sure it didn't involve a pink nightgown."

But, seriously... this was more fun than anything. If love blossomed, awesome. But they could hardly force the kid to marry someone. Still... you never knew and Kaoru certainly wasn't one to lose hope.

Wolfram was silent for a long moment, blushing heavily in embarrassment. Not that he was particularly ashamed of his actions in any way, but it still made him uncomfortable to be laughed at. He crossed his arms in front of his chest, and stuck his nose into the air.

"Hmph." Even after the apology, Wolfram remained tense for a bit, resisting the urge to pout. "So what would you suggest, then?"

Kaoru went into deep thought, scratching his chin just to establish the mood. Nobody could be as stupid as Tamaki or stubborn as Hikaru when it came to realising their love. Kaoru was going to have to find the fiance and work him out.

Until then... jealousy was always a good one.

"I have an idea!" he said, suddenly, hand in the air. "You're a pretty boy, you could probably pass as a girl. So. I shall introduce you to my friend as Wolfina Von Trap. He has a kissing addiction and seems to prefer blonds. If we can get him interested, Mr Meow might get jealous."

Kaoru grinned, awaiting Wolfram's certain approval.

"The best way to find out his true feelings is to threaten to take you away. If Tamaki is immune, Hikaru and I will just have to tag team or something."

Flirting wasn't exactly something they were strangers to.

Wolfram frowned, something he was getting good at lately. Worried that he'd develop wrinkles like Gwendal, he dropped the expression quickly again, but the nerves remained behind.

"You mean cheat on him? But that's... that's something he would do."

But Kaoru did have a point, to an extent. "But... the idea of making him jealous isn't the worst thing ever. Is there a way to do it without actual kissing?"

Because that was something he'd already planning on saving his first for.

"No, no, we're just putting your lips at risk if we let Tamaki near you... But... why do you want him so much if he cheats? There's dedication and there's stupidity, Wolfram." Seriously. If someone had so little respect, would you really want them?

"Yeah, sure!" Kaoru said, waving a hand at Wolfy. "We'll thinka something."

Wolfram shook his head at the question, becoming oddly quiet. Why was he so devoted to Yuuri? Well, it was a simple answer, in the long run. The same reason why he was frustrated.

"...You haven't seen him as the Maou. He just... cares about everyone, and when he's happy it makes you want to smile too."

Sighing softly, he laid down and curled up into his pillow, making sure to give Kaoru plenty of space still.

"I just... wish I could do something so that he'd see me as more than just a friend."

Kaoru, being that one fraction kinder than Hikaru, managed to stop himself pointing out that if Yuuri really cared, Wolfy wouldn't be so unhappy.

"Well, that's fine, I guess. But your happiness should be equally important. And we'll see what we can do...." Honestly, dedicating yourself to one person like that. Well, one person who wasn't your twin. He and Hikaru were special. And...ok...maybe they were a little too dedicated too at times. And maybe sometimes they tried to put the other's happiness before their own.... hmm.

"Hey. Wolfy... so... um. There's this.... I..." Kaoru stopped. He was never usually lost for words. Unless it was a case of trying to think of nicer words. He began to turn a little red and awkward. "Look. Could you do me a favour?" he finally asked, looking Wolfy in the eye. "Would you... taste my food for me? Just a little. Just the veg, even."
