Day 36: Intercom, Evening

The intercom's jingle rang out and the somewhat uninhibited movement that was going on between the main activity rooms halted as the Head Doctor made one of his usual announcements.

"Good evening everyone, and I'm very pleased to see so many of you in such high spirits after meeting with your loved ones! However, like with all good things, it can't last forever, so I ask now for nurses to escort our patients in the waiting rooms and in the main areas back to their rooms, where they will be treated with a special Sunday... steak! That's right: today, we'll be serving juicy, delicious steak with fries and cooked vegetables on the side – simple enough for everyone to like and good enough for everyone to thoroughly enjoy! (Our patients with specialized diets will receive their alternate meals, of course.) Our usual beverages are available, and for dessert, we'll be serving warm slices of apple pie.

"After all, patients, t's always wonderful to see all of you cooperating with the staff even when given so much freedom, so I'd like to personally thank and congratulate all of you for helping us, your family, and more importantly, yourselves. Hopefully, we can help you to a speedy recovery so that you can see your loved ones more often, but first... dinner! I hope to speak with you all again soon."

The intercom clicked off.

[ All room threads go in response to this post; please post your character's room number as the subject line of the initial post. Thank you!

On an added note, just wanted to clarify to players of characters who are canonly vegetarians and the like that you get to decide (within reasonable and realistic limits) what kind of diet your character gets from the staff. :3 ]

Leon glanced up, and returned the nod. "Hey," he said. Yohji still looked... not great, if Leon was reading things correctly. "You all right?" he asked awkwardly. He decided against mentioning that he'd seen Yohji out on the rec field. That would make this entire meal far, far too uncomfortable for his liking.

Yohji shrugged, going to sit down at the desk so that he could at least pretend to eat something. He turned to look at Leon, concerned. "Shouldn't I be asking you that question?" he asked, neatly sidestepping the question. "I'm sorry that I couldn't do anything last night." He'd been all but useless when they'd come for the other man.

Leon shook his head. "There were four orderlies and a couple nurses," he said. "I'd hardly expect you to take them all on yourself." He paused, taking a few bites of vegetables before continuing. "I should probably warn you about what they did to me," he said quietly. "Just in case you... have to deal with it." He glanced at the drawer with his tranquilizers. Only two. He needed to get more.

It was sound logically to say that he couldn't have done anything, but on top of Omi's disappearance and his visitor, logic was quickly taking a backseat to emotion and a definite sense of futility. Yohji had never been good at accepting failures, and each one just dragged him down a little further. He narrowed his eyes, noticing the way that Leon's eyes flicked to that particular drawer. "What happened?" he asked.

He sighed. "They injected me with some kind of virus," he said quietly. "It caused me to mutate. Violently." He glanced at Yohji, hoping the other man would get the idea and not ask for too many details. "It apparently can be reversed with a tranquilizer... I managed to steal a couple before I got out." He opened the desk drawer, and gestured at the vials. "Hopefully I'll be able to use them myself if it starts, but if not, I need you to." He met Yohji's eyes. "I lost control, completely. I don't know what would happen if I was out in the hospital like that."

Yohji just stared for a moment, blinking in surprise, but not necessarily shock or disbelief. "...there wasn't anyone called Masafumi Takatori there, was there?" he asked, for a moment finding it completely conceivable that Masafumi Takatori could be here, continuing his experiments. And if he'd found Omi... It was a much nicer thing to believe than that Omi had just given up.

He listened attentively to Leon's instructions and then nodded. "Yeah. I can do that," he replied seriously.

Leon frowned, and shook his head. "No," he replied. "It seemed like they had some connection with Umbrella, a company that did experiments like this back home."

"Thanks," he said. "I'm going to go to see if I can find any more tranquilizers tonight, maybe some other drugs." He didn't dare hope for a cure of some kind, not that easy, but something that could control it better. He'd take whatever he could get.

Umbrella? That didn't ring any bells, so he supposed it was something from Leon's world. Strange at how many similarities there seemed to be at times between their lives. And he'd probably just given more away about his own life back home, but why should he care anymore?

"I'll keep an eye out for any I can find," Yohji promised.
