Day 36: Intercom, Evening

The intercom's jingle rang out and the somewhat uninhibited movement that was going on between the main activity rooms halted as the Head Doctor made one of his usual announcements.

"Good evening everyone, and I'm very pleased to see so many of you in such high spirits after meeting with your loved ones! However, like with all good things, it can't last forever, so I ask now for nurses to escort our patients in the waiting rooms and in the main areas back to their rooms, where they will be treated with a special Sunday... steak! That's right: today, we'll be serving juicy, delicious steak with fries and cooked vegetables on the side – simple enough for everyone to like and good enough for everyone to thoroughly enjoy! (Our patients with specialized diets will receive their alternate meals, of course.) Our usual beverages are available, and for dessert, we'll be serving warm slices of apple pie.

"After all, patients, t's always wonderful to see all of you cooperating with the staff even when given so much freedom, so I'd like to personally thank and congratulate all of you for helping us, your family, and more importantly, yourselves. Hopefully, we can help you to a speedy recovery so that you can see your loved ones more often, but first... dinner! I hope to speak with you all again soon."

The intercom clicked off.

[ All room threads go in response to this post; please post your character's room number as the subject line of the initial post. Thank you!

On an added note, just wanted to clarify to players of characters who are canonly vegetarians and the like that you get to decide (within reasonable and realistic limits) what kind of diet your character gets from the staff. :3 ]

Archer sluggishly entered his room. He just didn't have much energy. After his little session with... Izzy, Archer was left mentally tired. What was he doing, playing into their hand like that? It was pathetic.

His fork lazily shuffled the food around on his plate. The fries were the easiest, since they were, surprisingly, the lightest.

Brook wasn't quite sure what he felt upon returning to his room. That visitor had certainly been strange, to say the least. He wasn't even sure about that so how was he supposed to be sure about anything else?!

What he was sure of was the scent of food that caught in his nose upon entering. Food was food was food no matter how you looked at it! Ah, and so was his roommate!

Whom he owed an apology.

He didn't enter as cheerily as he might have since both he and Archer by the looks of it were not in the best of moods. "Good evening to you, Archer-san. I apologize for last night. Things just didn't seem to want to go anybody's way." He took a seat slowly on his bed, looking across.

"Hey Brook," Archer greeted, as he noticed his roommate enter. He wasn't that far gone that he didn't hear the door opening. Monsters usually didn't come out until night, but he didn't want to take the chance of them getting the drop on him. This was Landel's hellhole after all. The rules could change at anytime.

When Brook began apologizing, Archer was reminded of last night's events. "Don't worry about it Brook. It's not your fault anyways. The responsibility lies with me as the team leader."

And while he may not have said it, he was a little relieve to see the pirate was safe. Now that his roommate had entered, Archer couldn't just stare off into space anymore. He was reminded that he needed to get ready for tonight, but even as he thought this, his movements lacked their usual luster. He turned to look at his friend. "You look like how I feel. Let me guess, you got a visitor too?"

Brook frowned when Archer took the blame, but he didn't want to argue and possibly make the both of theme feel worse. He decided to start into his meal instead, hoping things were at least better now. Archer looked fine enough, and he didn't need to know of the experience with the tree really. What had happened had happened, no changing that!

He looked up with half a mouthful of steak. "Ah, yes, I suppose. I'm still not so sure of what happened there though..." And Brook being confused was a new one. Bewildered maybe, but never completely confused. Usually he'd just find some answer for things and go with it, even if those things didn't make the best of sense, but at least then they made some sense! For this he couldn't find anything to make sense of.

"Hey, can I borrow your bat from last night?" asked Archer, as he set aside his unfinished meal. "I gave my sword to Celes last night."

Boy, was she in for an awakening when she checked her sword tonight. He hadn't had the opportunity to tell her that his magecraft apparently wore off after a day here.

"Hm?" Hello change of subject. Maybe Archer was just trying to keep them both from thinking too much on it. That was probably best. "My bat... now let's see, where might that be...?" he thought a moment, glancing at the closet, but he couldn't remember having put anything back into it when morning came. The last place he'd had it had been...

"Ah! Oh no, I don't have it any more Archer-san!" he yelped, apologetic, "I think it got left in the Courtyard last night when we were dealing with Chopper-san! I'm sorry!"

Brook's news was disappointing. Now he couldn't make any arrows while he waited for the nightshift. How boring.

"Don't worry about it." Archer sat down on his bed and returned his attention to his meal, since there wasn't anything else he could really do. "So did you help out your Nakama yesterday?"

Don't worry? But he'd lost something that Archer had gotten for him! Archer didn't seem very mad though, so Brook hoped he wasn't just being like that to make him not feel bad. Oh, but of course he wouldn't do that! Someone who would eat cake in front of someone who'd spilled his own wouldn't think about things like that, now would they?

"Yes, we did. I didn't have the chance to talk to him today though." Hopefully Sanji or Usopp had managed to though. The little reindeer would be upset over what had happened.
