Nightshift 34: F21-30 Hallway
[F22]
SHE'D FALLEN ASLEEP?!?
Falis stood in the middle of her room STARING at her roommate's sleeping form. "No, no, no, no! This isn't fucking happening," the bounty hunter growled as her stare turned into a furious glare. "You need to get your ass out of this room tonight."
No response. Senna continued to sleep peacefully, unaware of the blonde with the barely contained rage focused on her. Granted, this was Falis' fault for not making it clear right away that the room was off-limits for the night, but even she didn't fall asleep that fast and that soundly. And certainly not when there was a very dangerous, very angry person practically standing over her.
Fuck.
Falis clenched and unclenched her hands a few times and then whirled around, her temper getting the better of her. She snatched her sword up off the bed and, pivoting, brought it down upon Senna. It was only the realization that her roommate's decapitated corpse laying in the room would probably completely turn Hokuto off that caused the bounty hunter to halt her blade a mere breath away from Senna's head. She stepped back and stared down at her roommate, occassionally raising her sword as if to slash down at the sleeping form again before lowering it.
She eventually started to pace as she waited, frustrated and upset, toeing that line of just letting her rage take her over and killing her roommate. How DARE she fall asleep?!? Falis paused in her pacing to lash out at Senna, only stopping herself partway through the stroke again. She shook her blade at the girl as she trembeled in contained rage.
Why TONIGHT????

Re: F24
The vampire arrived breathlessly, clutching his solitary, rusted pipe in one white-knuckled hand. His sibling wasn't here, nor could he detect any trace of her smell. He still worried, but with her grace she could easily side-swipe any amount of trouble. Nor could she be far - the female block was a single cell, rather than the multiple cells of male rooms.
"I'm here," he called out in greeting before opening the door to the room fluidly, staying by the doorframe with it standing open behind him. "Alice is coming, I think. Do you mind waiting?"
Re: F24
Standing up, she wobbled a bit before moving slowly towards the sound of Edward’s voice, not wanting to waste the battery. Who knew how long it would take for it to die out?
“Waiting is fine. It’s what I’ve done for the past week or so anyway. Minus a few days.” Minus the few times she had gone off on her own to either look for Edward or to meet him somewhere. But really, it wasn’t such a big deal. Or, rather, not a big of a deal Edward constantly made it out to be.
Stopping when she figured out she was a few feet away, Bella sighed and took in a breath, reaching a hand out as she searched for his own in the darkness. “So, how’re you?”
Re: F24
- ah, no. He wasn't going there. He wasn't even having one shred of his thought going there.
"I'm fine," he answered, sliding a hand off of the doorframe to take careful hold of her own. The familiar heat made him smile through the sudden darkness, his thumb rubbing slow circles on her palm. No pain for the first time in a few days. He felt rather rejuvenated, really. Much stronger. The combination of blood and sun was rather intoxicating. Edward had never realized how outdoorsy he was; possibly more of the animal in him than the human. He couldn't remember ever being denied of it, so Landel's had more than brought out his appreciation for it.
"Your arm is almost healed, isn't it?" he asked, voice rather soft with amazement. It seemed much too soon for it to smell so... normal. "It doesn't smell like blood anymore."
Re: F24
The feel of his chilly hand in her own had her grin melting into a smile, and she laced her fingers through his own before letting out a content sigh. “My arm?” she asked, almost in a happy daze. Shaking her head, she finally answered. “Oh, uh. Yeah. I guess? Things heal pretty fast here, it’s kinda … weird. And good, in a way. I mean …” there was a pause, and Bella closed her eyes, her smile fading into one of sadness. “It’s better, isn’t it? That way you don’t have to smell it and be worried and … well, you know. I’m not complaining.”
She wanted to get away from the door. Frowning, the teenager slowly took a few steps back, careful not to trip over herself in the darkness. “You can shut the door, you know. I’m sure Alice can smell me from however far away she is.”
Re: F24
"I'm not worried. It's just... the same barriers." His voice was rather heavy with disappointment; as much as the hospital helped (in its own unique, "here, have some humanity!" way), it was much like a dollar bill on fishing line. "For now, at least. Everything's much more potent than it was when I was still -," he stopped, carefully choosing softer words, "- on a strict diet."
Why did he even bother anymore?
With a sigh, he shut the door behind him with a foot, stepping in the room to wrap his arms around the beautiful girl in front of him. "To be honest, I rather hope she takes her time."
Re: F24
The sound of the door shutting had her heart racing slightly, and the beat only quickened when she felt her fiancé’s arms wrap around her waist. Lifting her arms up, she slowly slid her hands up his chest until she found his neck, fingers moving ever so slowly over his skin before finally wrapping her arms around his chest so she could pull him closer. “Hm? Why?” she practically sang, that smile once again crossing her lips as she felt her face grow hotter from his words.
To be honest, she couldn’t have agreed more. But she wasn’t going to tell him that just yet.
Standing on her toes, Bella pressed a quick kiss to Edward’s jaw (she had been aiming for his lips, but whatever.) before pulling away. “… Maybe we should leave a note on the front of the door.”
Re: F24
The fumbling made it all the more enjoyable.
Leaning his head down, he returned her kiss with his own, fervor behind the touch. He was only set aside a small allotment of time for Bella - even smaller, now with the
cockblocksibling here. With a final press of his lips, he tore himself away sooner than to be expected. It was a slow, slow process. One step forward, two steps back. "No, I don't think so - as much as I'd love to. But I'm worried about her, and the ropes do need to be shown." He sighed. "And you know Alice would pick the most unopportune time to knock."
Re: F24
"Or I just skip the knocking altogether," Alice spoke from the doorway, an impish smile twisting across her lips. She slipped into the room, coming to perch on the edge of Bella's desk, looking completely unrepentant. "Don't worry, I knew I wasn't interrupting much."
Re: F24
Moving to the desk near Alice with her face still a bright red color, Bella turned towards her friend for a moment before turning back to Edward, her arms reaching back so she could lean against the desk. “So, what are out plans for tonight?”
Re: F24
The new worry made him feel rather unbalanced.
Edward moved to the edge of the bed, taking a still seat on it, mentally flickering through images of the hospital's map in his head. "I don't know, really. It doesn't matter where we go." He sighed, chagrined. "Apparently there's been a hole created in the security system, if you're feeling so inclined to go beyond the Institution's walls. It wasn't there a few days ago," he added for Alice's benefit.
Re: F24
Cocking her head to the side, Alice focused on something else for a moment, a slight frown slipping across her lips. She could see some things, but nothing like what she was used to, and what she could see only came with intense concentration. She was just hoping what she could see could still be trusted.
"We don't want to go towards the back walls," she said after a moment, having picked up on that possible plan from Edward. "That seems to be a popular place tonight, with the wrong sort of people. Have you tried the front door?"
Re: F24
It sounded suspicious, but if Alice said that it would be fine, then … well, there was really nothing they could do to go against what she saw, right?
But, to go outside? That was … also a strange thought. Despite the fact that they were supposed to be going on a trip to that weird town again, it had felt like she hadn’t been outside of the asylum walls in months. “What’s near the back?” For a moment, she wondered if that was what had caused Edward to go into panic mode the night before. Suddenly being picked up without a second word or warning …
Pushing herself off the desk, Bella moved slowly through the darkness until she found her bed, and she quickly reached under her mattress and pulled out her pipe. Blindly searching on the covers, she ran her hand along the sheets until she found her discarded flashlight, and quickly clicked it on with a sigh. “Well, I’m all set.”
Re: F24
Wasn't that interesting?
"Ah," he sighed, looking up at Alice. "The same field, too. Not surprising, considering he did warn about them." He shifted on the bed, allowing Bella to search for the light. "There's only four of them tonight, so it should be rather simple to by-pass all of them."
Simple. Hopefully. He really did not want to run into another victim of the special counseling - especially with Bella in tow.
The vampire slid off the bed, grabbing the forgotten pipe by the bed. "We had better get started, then. Shall I lead, or can you see enough to know the layout, Alice?"
Re: F24
Focusing on her brother and Bella once more, she hopped off the edge of the desk with a patient look. "Who warned about who? Is this the brainwashing you mentioned earlier?" She'd wanted to ask him about that, but there hadn't been time. She'd seek him out sometime tomorrow. They needed to talk.
Alice was unarmed, but she didn't mind, she'd make due for the time being, or at least be careful. Though she would have to remember not to rely on her sight to warn her if something was coming. If she couldn't see the monsters before they attacked, just as Edward couldn't hear them, that would be problematic.
"I can see some of the layout, enough to lead, I think. I want to test the limitations they've placed on me, with what I can and can't see." Besides, she was fairly certain Edward would want to stick close to Bella.
"Let's go, then."
