Nightshift 34: F21-30 Hallway
[F22]
SHE'D FALLEN ASLEEP?!?
Falis stood in the middle of her room STARING at her roommate's sleeping form. "No, no, no, no! This isn't fucking happening," the bounty hunter growled as her stare turned into a furious glare. "You need to get your ass out of this room tonight."
No response. Senna continued to sleep peacefully, unaware of the blonde with the barely contained rage focused on her. Granted, this was Falis' fault for not making it clear right away that the room was off-limits for the night, but even she didn't fall asleep that fast and that soundly. And certainly not when there was a very dangerous, very angry person practically standing over her.
Fuck.
Falis clenched and unclenched her hands a few times and then whirled around, her temper getting the better of her. She snatched her sword up off the bed and, pivoting, brought it down upon Senna. It was only the realization that her roommate's decapitated corpse laying in the room would probably completely turn Hokuto off that caused the bounty hunter to halt her blade a mere breath away from Senna's head. She stepped back and stared down at her roommate, occassionally raising her sword as if to slash down at the sleeping form again before lowering it.
She eventually started to pace as she waited, frustrated and upset, toeing that line of just letting her rage take her over and killing her roommate. How DARE she fall asleep?!? Falis paused in her pacing to lash out at Senna, only stopping herself partway through the stroke again. She shook her blade at the girl as she trembeled in contained rage.
Why TONIGHT????

With the door closed, hearing Anya was usually possible. With it half-open, it was almost impossible to miss her.
Angel pushed the door open a little wider and stepped inside, shutting it behind him.
"I thought we should regroup," he said. "Figure out what we're looking for first before we go looking."

Momo hadn't gotten to the door before it closed. She'd seen the figure of a tall man enter the room, but he was quick to shut the door behind him and the shinigami wasn't about to call out for him to hold the door. Since Signum's roommate was Willow and, because of Anya, Momo had been keeping an eye on the board, she assumed the man was Angel.
She stood outside the door and counted to thirty - backwards - before knocking on it. She didn't really want it to seem like she'd just missed the door. Even if it was the truth.

When the knock came she moved to open the door for herself, correctly presuming that if the visitor had come so soon after Angel but not followed him in they would not be one of Willow's allies. She'd thought it might be Momo, but she was relieved to see the shinigami anyway- besides providing her an excuse to leave her crowded room, her friend's appearance meant she'd have something concrete to do tonight.
"Wait a second," she said, disappearing back into the room for her arms.

Maybe Momo was following her. This had better not turn into one of those bad horror movies Xander had made her watch. At least she didn't have a phone, so nobody could call it from inside the house.
But no, Momo seemed to be here for Willow's roommate, a girl whose presence Anya had thus far successfully managed to ignore - a practice she wasn't about to give up on now.
She turned back to Angel, to answer his query. "I'm looking for freedom," she offered, wondering if that was the sort of answer he was looking for.

"We're looking for a way out," she answered Angel, her brow furrowed. "And I don't know about you, but a giant ballroom for a basement doesn't exactly scream 'I'm normal.'"
no subject
"I meant along less broad terms," he replied, keeping his voice low enough to not disturb the other two in the room. "We can't just keeping walking around hoping we can bump into a portal before something tries to eat us. Again. Look, how much do you know about glamours? Either of you."

Since the others were in conversation, the shinigami decided to leave them be. "I'll be in the hall," she said to Signum, before turning away from the door, partially closing it as she went to give the others some privacy. She leaned back against the wall across from the door and kept an eye out for anything worth dealing with.

"I'm ready," she reported to Momo, wondering what exactly she was ready for. She didn't do a whole lot during the day, but getting confined to her room had been a mistake. She had no idea if anything out of the ordinary was going on within their group or the larger institute. Good that she had Momo, at least...
[[Heading on down to our own thread in the hall proper, I expect.]]

She glanced back and forth between the other Scoobies, before throwing out her answer to Angel's latest question. "I know about glamours. A bit." She rounded on the vampire, her brow creasing in confusion. "Why?"

Was he on to something here? Angel couldn't even really say for sure, but it was worth a shot. It was the most solid thing he'd gathered since arriving here, at any rate.
"What I'm trying to say is, everything that's happening here, it's defied every law of nature, physics, and time, and the only way that could happen is through a mystical influence. If I'm right, we're trapped inside the field, and if we are, then our way out won't be anywhere in here. It'll be beyond it. And my guess is, this probably extends as far as the town."

She glanced between the others, trying to find a hole in Angel's logic. "Fine," she sighed eventually. "If you want to. But when we're all eaten by pumas, I get to say I told you so."
no subject
Were they still back in their own world, Willow would have seen the logic of Angel's argument and agreed that it was the only possible way something like this could be pulled off. The one flaw this time was that they weren't in their own world. Their laws didn't apply here. Angel didn't get it because he didn't grow up on the fictional characters that Willow was meeting here every day, in the flesh and completely believing their own worlds were real. There was something much bigger going on here, and Willow still completely believed that the way out lay in the answer to the question of 'why,' not 'how.'
But, she had to admit, Angel did have a point. And right now, it was their only lead.
She sighed as Anya agreed to the expedition. "Okay. But if we don't find anything tonight, then we're trying something else next time."

He pushed open the door. "Come on."
