Nightshift 34: West Wing, South Hall 1-B

[from here]

A quick look to the left was sent down the hallway in search of any potential threats before Momo headed to the right. So far, so good. Hopefully, she wouldn't run into any complications before she was able to meet back with Signum.

Then, she'd almost feel sad for whatever the knight came across.

Yuna lifted up her head to see a black-haired man who couldn't be much older than her in front of her. Almost everyone had simply passed her by; he was the first one to stop and check if she was okay. As much as she felt lost, the situation made her feel warmer inside.

"Y-Yes... I believe so... thank you..." she stammered out slowly.

"You shouldn't be sitting out here alone, miss." She shouldn't really be sitting out here at all, though Subaru felt it was a bit rude to say that. Still, sitting down made it harder to move in a hurry, and what would she do if something attacked her? "Are you waiting for someone?"

"Shouldn't be sitting out alone?" Yuna thought. Why didn't she make that connection? Of course you can't just sit around when fiends are about to roam about.

"O-Oh... No I'm not..." she answered nervously. But what was she to do now? No one was meeting her and she most certainly didn't know where to go.

"Do you know where you wanted to go? I can help you get there, if you like, miss. In any case, sitting around here isn't going to accomplish anything." Subaru offered the woman a hand up, tentatively. He didn't like touching people skin-to-skin very much--long habit from living in Japan, and from wearing gloves for seven years of his life--but the girl was obviously lost or upset somehow, and he had to extend at least that much courtesy.

Yuna shook her head before taking the man's hand. She brushed herself off before continuing to stutter, "N-Not really... Do you think... Um... Well... Ahh..." Any helping hand seemed better than none, yet why couldn't she just spit the words out?

Though he wasn't much larger than she was, Subaru easily pulled Yuna to her feet as he stood; he was quite a bit stronger than he looked, and his grip was firm and confident despite his initial hesitation.

"It's your first night here, isn't it?" Subaru's voice was soft, and full of sympathy. He had been lucky, in a weird way, to have been with Seishirou for his first night. "Well, if you have no plans, we can head up to the second floor. Most of the supplies tend to be up there." Or so Subaru gathered, from what he'd seen on the message board. He'd not actually been up there yet, himself, despite it being a week since he woke here.

Yuna nodded gloomily. "So it had been that obvious..." she thought.

When she got up, she took note of the strange design on his hand. At first she wanted to ask about it, but she decided that this wasn't the best time to test his hospitality by asking him personal questions.

"Alright," she answered, trying to pull herself together.

Subaru let go of the girl's hand as soon as she seemed to have her feet back under her, and then he started to lead the way down the hall. "This way to the main hallway and the stairs, miss."
