Nightshift 34: F-A Block Hallway

This shinigami moved out into the hallway at the end of the women's block. It seemed she was moving faster than the others given how empty it all seemed. She shot a quick look down both Signum and Skuld's hallways as she headed to the door to the outer hallway. She paused at the door, listening for sound beyond it, before opening it and continuing on her way.

Naomi blinked. "Is it?" she frowned. Her information regarding the layout hadn't mentioned that. "I've never been up there before myself. I'm just going on information I've gathered here in the institute. And no one bothered to mention that to me."

If that was the case, maybe it would be better to go around.

"We'll take the other stairs, then. I don't want to run into anything big, if we can avoid it."

“Not to say the likelihood of getting surprised is less anywhere else, but I think the bigger intersections attract the bigger opponents,” he offered. Size restrictions aside, yeah, he was a lot more willing to bet that Landel put his pawns in places were they could cause the most harm. Important places or places that tended to draw people were likely candidates: explained why there always seemed to be obstacles outside, in the Sun Room, on the route to the basement, etc.

If he wanted to make trouble on the second floor, the big space around the balcony was the right spot. So many ways to mess people’s plans up.

As he opened the door, he frowned thoughtfully for a second. “At least, that seems to be the way it works around here.” He didn’t know anything for sure and didn’t mean to browbeat anyone. Just his suspicions, that was all he had.

And maybe some irrefutable foresight. Heh.
