Nightshift 33: Greenhouse Yard
[from here]
With the door shut and Toph safe for the moment, Renamon allowed herself to think again. Her body would be feeling the pain soon, as soon as she calmed down, and she needed to search the outside before it set in. She didn't see anything, but she was learning that meant nothing. And then she realized she didn't need her flashlight.
Renamon stepped further out into the night. She was instantly more relaxed. Outside in the night? She was in her natural element. She wasn't confined in a dark place with walls that felt like death. She was outside, at night, when she was the most powerful. Well, when she was a Digimon.
At that second the pain decided to set in, and she breathed in sharply. That was it. She wouldn't wear the sweatshirt anymore, not if it got caught on things and got her hurt like this. She gently peeled it off, then examined what she could of her wound. It was long and diagonal, nearly the length of her upper arm, and seemed deep. She couldn't see the bone, but it was bleeding freely. An inch, maybe. She wasn't good at determining things like this. She balled up the sweatshirt and held it to the wound tightly.
Once all that was completed, then she looked around more thoroughly.

For the next few moments, at least, he was a sitting duck if the bird decided to go after him.

"CAPTAIN!" Artemis watched in horror as Hitsugaya fell to the ground after being hit with a charge. At that point, he had no idea if the charge had been fatal or simply stunning. Either way, his leader was on the ground, his body twitching from the resulting current. If he was alive, Artemis needed to get him to safety, before another charge could enter his body. Which meant killing the monster. Gripping his sword tightly, realizing he was the last line of defense and that he was now fighting for his life, Artemis screamed and charged the last tempest, bringing his sword down as he'd done with the previous.

But the desire to attack Artemis as well was too strong, so as it brought its wings together for a bolt, the boy's sword sliced one of them off. It fell, twitching, to join its partner.

"Good work, Fowl," he said, his voice still a little slurred as his nerves reset from the electricity running through his system. He lay on the ground for the time being, not quite ready to stand up.

"Thank... thank you Captain," Artemis said, trying to catch his breath and calm his nerves. "I thought you'd... been on the receiving end of a fatal shock." He knelt down next to Hitsugaya, taking off his smoldering blazer. Well, this one was ruined. "Do you need me to heal you?"

"No," he said. "I'll be fine. I'm just sore." At last he forced himself back to his feet as his legs gradually relearned how to coordinate themselves and allow him to walk. He glanced up at the wall. "Alright then," he said. "Let's try that wall again."

He looked up at the wall as well. The coast seemed to be clear for once, so the sooner the better. "After you, Captain."

They were actually on the other side of the wall! They were going to make it!

He grasped Hitsugaya's hand and pulled himself up with every ounce of strength he had.
