Nightshift 33: F21-30 Hallway

[F22]

The intercom startled Falis when it went off and thankfully, she'd set the newly crafted spear down or she might have jabbed a splinter into her palm. As it was, she was stading over her bed looking at all her weapons laid out upon it. One sharp spear, still stained with Eve's blood, one fresh spear, and a stake. Maybe she needed another stake. Nah... Namine should remember hers; Namine didn't forget things. This was why Falis liked the girl so much.

Her eyes moved to look at the intercom as the announcement continued, nodding as it pretty much conformed the whole ancient technology thing she'd been pretty certain of in teh first place. And since it seemed like it was on the fritz, whatever it did, that maybe the princess wasn't going to have to use her super-secret sealing Forland blood anytime soon. Maybe there was another princess around with special blood doing it for them.

What was her name? Jill? Jane? Whatever.

Now, if the people that were supposed to be showing up showed up soon. Bounty hunters had to be patient, but that didn't mean they liked waiting.

Things deteriorated from weird to downright spooky. Anyone would be unsettled by multiple voices echoing into the chamber from multiple sources. Staying in this place for more than a second sounded like a very stupid idea.

Her expression a perfect picture of discomfort, Toph backed toward the exit. "I am so out of here," she muttered, reaching for the doorknob.

Without further delay, she pulled open the door and sprinted down the hallway.

The intercom announcement gave Willow much, much more to think about than they normally did. Most of it she couldn't understand, but that was becoming too normal to question. It sounded like it was giving some sort of clue to a way of escaping, but Willow was more interested in one part of it.

Not even the most experienced hacker? It definitely sounded like the Head Doctor didn't want that entire section broadcasted, and it left Willow wondering what on earth it meant, and nervously hoping no one had discovered she tried to hack in the other night. Would she be able to get in if she tried again tonight? Was that what it meant?

With a brief shake of her head, Willow sat down on the bed to wait for Angel and Anya to get there.

Night. Bella found herself blinking in surprise when she realized it was dark – where had dinner gone? Pushing herself up on her bed, she quickly rubbed at her eyes before rolling off her bed.

Without even thinking, she reached under her pillow and grabbed her flashlight, clicking it on with a content sigh. Light was always better; the darkness caused her to think too much, and at times her mind could be a rather cruel place.

Rolling off of her bed, Bella reached underneath the mattress and pulled out her pipe, clutching onto it tightly before she moved towards the door, pausing once she reached out to grasp onto the handle. She knew Edward would be mad at her for leaving the room without him, but ... honestly, she hated being cooped up in the thing waiting for him, especially after last night. She didn’t want to risk it.

Without looking back, the teenager quickly pulled the door open and stepped into the hallway, moving down it shortly after.

Ururu had been very quiet during dinner, focusing on eating dinner, so she hadn't really realized how much time had passed until the intercom went off. The head doctor sounded different, then he sounded normal, except he sounded mad. Ururu didn't understand all of the things that were said, but she could understand that much.

But she didn't want to spend too long thinking about it. She had to get to F3 quickly, to meet Orihime and the others. So she bid Skuld a hasty goodbye before grabbing her flashlight, and running out the door.

At least as fast as she could with her injuries.

She strolled out into the hallway, this time having remembered her clothes stashed away in time to change into them in front of her roommate (and without shame, naturally), and started turning down the usual way. She wanted to find Tyki first, but she had no idea where to start, and ti was much easier trying to find Allen Walker since she knew where he usually ended up at least once every night. The Sun Room doors it was!

Bella took out of the room quickly, considering how she'd seemed so tired to be sleeping like that. Seiya herself stretched a bit in the dark of the room first, considering. The rest of it was familiar. Kidnapped into some alternate dimension or space controlled by an unseen sadist, powers limited or taken, lots of incarnations of evil had the same sort of general ways of going about things. But this one was a bit more abrupt than most, and she hadn't been kidnapped from home with her partners. Just... taken, without warning.

And the arguing over the radio. Despite herself, she was curious. Seiya wondered what Leon would want to do, and wondered what Usagi and Ami were up to this evening. What was past the walls?

First things first, she reached into her closet, and started picking out the few things she'd chosen for herself. Most importantly, she put on the sneakers. They weren't very comfortable without socks, and they were not exactly her style, but they were an improvement over the weak slippers. Then, pole and bag over one shoulder, box cutter tucked into her waistband and flashlight in her spare hand, she headed out.

With no idea what was happening tonight, Skuld was left pacing her room; she hadn't managed to track Brooklyn down even once, and by the time she remembered she could leave him a note, it was too late in the day.

"Whatever!" she muttered, exasperated. "If he takes more than a couple of hours, I'm making something else and leaving."

At least she had Angel's ax ready; it was still hidden in her closet, alongside her bughammer. She couldn't just stay in her room all night again; she was agitated enough as it was.

It didn't help her state of mind that she had no idea if making something for Angel was okay to begin with, but she'd spent most of the previous night agonizing about it and mostly concluded that honestly, the rules were unclear on this topic. As far as she could tell he wasn't the kind of demon she knew at all, and he definitely wasn't bent on Heaven's destruction. And he seemed... like a good guy.

Part of being responsible is making your own decisions, for good or for ill. And I don't think he's bad, so--I should help him. She didn't know if it was the right thing to do, but maybe that was part of the test. And how often did Goddesses First Class know for a fact something was the right thing to do, anyway? Uncertainty sucked, but it was a part of life.

"He'd better appreciate this."

... By god, this was like a miracle from above. Nothing happened. She didn't know what sparked this change of pace during dinner, but hell if she were going to complain about it! Yukari was prepared for the night this time, gathering a flashlight and needed maps long before the... unusually perturbed voice of the Doctor's boomed through out the halls, and another following it, finishing everything with quite the interesting message.

Didn't sound like everything was going smoothly for the guy, huh? Good. Bastard deserved every hit he got. The messages were cryptic at best, but even if Yukari didn't know what it meant it sounded like things were falling out of his favor here and there. Heh.

Either way, she couldn't stick around for long. No doubt the start of the night would wake the other occupant of the room, and Yukari didn't want to be around for that; her miracle may as well slap her across the face if so. With impressive speed, she held on to what she needed and ventured out into the hallway.

Going the rest of the way to Skuld's room didn't take too long and Angel found himself in front of the door a few minutes later.

He hesitated a moment before knocking lightly on her door. "Skuld? It's me."

[identity profile] innovator-skuld.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
Finally! "Come in," she called, opening her closet and digging around inside until she found the ax; she'd dumped a pile of clothes on top of it in the hopes of hiding it better. It hadn't been hard to make, at least, though she was kind of glad she hadn't had any witnesses that time; Angel was too nice. He so would have freaked out or something when he saw what doing alchemy did to her here.

How someone like that could be any kind of demon at all was beyond her. If she was breaking a rule here, technically or not... she might have to challenge that later, if she was called on it. Rules could be changed, and sometimes they needed to be.

And in other circumstances, sometimes they needed to be broken. She didn't know Angel well, but she was willing to trust him. (She might end up mentioning how she wasn't supposed to be helping him, but just as an FYI. Probably.)

"Here," she said, holding it out handle-first. Unlike a sword or knife, there wasn't too much worry about cutting herself on the ax's blade unless it really slipped.

[identity profile] blurred-divide.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
Angel opened the door just in time to see Skuld's upper half disappear inside the closet. He waited patiently for her to dig out the axe, reaching for it as she handed it over. For something that she'd apparently just whipped up in one night, it was surprisingly well-crafted, balancing nicely in his hands.

"Thanks," he said. He paused, studying her for a second. "You're still taking requests, right?"

He'd meant to ask this for Willow last night, but he'd been a little distracted with getting Anya out of there as quick as possible before too much was said.

[identity profile] innovator-skuld.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
Skuld nodded, something close to a smirk flickering across her face; she did love to show off. "Yeah," she said. "It's already getting long, though."

It then occurred to her that they might have a problem... "Um, would this be for that friend you brought last night? 'Cause... what is she?" A demon she knew and thought was trustworthy was one thing. If that woman was too... Skuld was only willing to bend the rules so often.

[identity profile] blurred-divide.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
Angel raised an eyebrow, unsure if he was slightly amused or just...yeah. He was slightly amused. Anya had left a certain impression, he supposed, which was hardly a surprise.

"No," he replied, recalling what Skuld had told him when they first met about her people's war with demons. "It's for someone else. Her name's Willow. She's a Wiccan, but she's human."

He deliberately chose to leave what Anya was unanswered for now, although he wasn't unwilling to tell Skuld if she asked again.

[identity profile] innovator-skuld.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Wiccan?" Skuld asked blankly. She hadn't spent much time outside Japan this incarnation, and Wicca wasn't exactly well-known there.

At least he was asking for a weapon for his human friend, though Skuld winced to think of it that way. Not all mortals were human, and as long as they weren't her declared enemy, helping should be okay... in theory. She didn't know for sure, and it bugged her.

[identity profile] blurred-divide.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
"She uses magic," Angel explained. Skuld seemed hesitant, but she didn't look like she was going to say no outright, and that was all he needed. She'd been willing to help him out in spite of what he was. He couldn't ask for more than that.

"She doesn't need anything too complicated," he went on. "Just something easy to handle. She's not a fighter, specifically."

It didn't take long to find Alita's room number. Kagura hadn't been alone since... well, since her first night here in the institute. She flicked her flashlight up and down the hall nervously before she knocked on the door.

"Ah... Alita-hime? Are you here?"

Re: F22

[identity profile] kagurazuki.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
Kagura was bold only around those she knew very well, namely the jyuunishi, the other zodiacs. Other times, she hid behind her mask of the sweet, shy, demure little Japanese girl. When Alita grabbed her arm and pulled her inside, she nearly tripped and fell flat on her face!

"Jitterbug?" Kagura responded, the confusion evident on her face. "Ah- no, I didn't mean to- ah... W-what is it you needed to talk to me about Alita-hime?"

[identity profile] innovator-skuld.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 05:48 am (UTC)(link)
"So... a staff, or something?" That was one magic-related weapon Skuld was familiar with. It could be used at a distance, and unlike a wand it had other purposes even if she didn't put a blade at the top. They still took some training to use effectively, but hopefully not too much. "I'll talk to her."

She hesitated, but blurted out, "So what's your other friend?" It was way too easy to picture the woman with certain markings. And she hadn't missed the fact that Angel had tried to avoid answering her.

Re: F22

[identity profile] kagurazuki.livejournal.com 2008-07-10 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
It was nice that Alita was so concerned, but Kagura got the feeling the woman was a little bit strange. The jitterbug thing sounded icky too and she hoped she wouldn't run across anything like that in the near future. How gross!

"Oh, um, okay," she said with a little hesitance as Alita shined her flashlight in Kagura's direction. The bite from a couple nights ago had more or less healed already, it was the spider from last night she was worried about. That thing had completely ruined her shoulder! Even when it healed it would be covered in scar tissue and just look disgusting, she was sure! She'd never get to wear another sleeveless top. Just the thought was depressing.
