Nightshift 33: F-A Block Hallway

[Coming from here.]

Max didn't slow down or even pause to look around her as she slipped out of her hall and headed onwards, a determined expression on her face. If anything was stupid enough to pick a fight with her right now, she'd be more than happy to oblige it.

[Going here.]

"What is it about the Sun Room, anyway?" Seiya asked, sincerely. She'd heard other people talking about the Sun Room as though it caught fire or something during the nighttime, but having never been there at night herself, she had no idea why it was taboo. True, she could imagine that the overlooks would put someone in a very bad position... but they'd been upstairs last night, and no one had been obviously attacking from up there.

"I'll have to follow you to your room. Or if you want, we can split the things here, and I can wait for you to get back." Seiya hadn't exactly told Leon what her room number was. He'd watched her back, but she didn't trust all that quickly, especially when there wasn't a common enemy.

Leon shrugged, not having been to the Sun Room at night much, himself. "Apparently there's always a major monster in there, because it's the main path to most of the rooms on the first floor."

It was a relief to Leon, to be working with someone who seemed to understand basic caution and who didn't insist on being Bestest Friends just because they worked together. Maybe he was being needlessly critical, but he got the feeling that few people in the Arts & Crafts club would even have thought of offering to wait around to preserve the privacy of room numbers. "We can split things here."

"To keep people out of the art and music rooms?" Seiya raised an eyebrow. "That's odd. I suppose it's nice of them to be predictable about it, at least." She also hadn't seen anything happening in the Sun Room during their brief pass near the overlook, but she'd been a bit distracted with the crazed patient being fought on the same floor at the time.

She put the bag down, and opened it. "I took out the things I remembered grabbing myself last night. Two of the rolls of gauze, one roll of the medical tape, one spare flashlight, and some of the things from my--from Akamoto's personal possessions. Everything else I've got on me." She hadn't grabbed much that didn't look immediately useful as a weapon last night, although she was pleased enough with what she'd gathered. "The rest, the syringes and other bandages and things, should all still be there. Feel free to keep the bag, since you're carrying so much."

"It's also the easiest way to the cafeteria and, through there, the kitchen and the courtyard. The only other way is to climb the wall between the sports field and the courtyard," Leon pointed out.

Leon nodded and glanced into the bag briefly, then hefted it over one shoulder. "I will be back shortly. My room is in the block just above this." That was not too much information to offer--there were many rooms in that block, after all.

"Ah, I see." Seiya nodded. The wall hadn't looked that tall to her when she'd been outside, but then again, she hadn't been in the process of being chased by monsters and she was already naturally athletic. Some of the patients here seemed fairly young, and others just short--a wall of that height might be a bit more than a moment's climb for them.

"All right, I'll wait here." Seiya leaned back against the wall again, testing the weight of the pole a bit since she had the free time, then taking out the box cutter and examining it. Not perfect, not even a proper knife, but better than bare hands. The scratch from yesterday already felt a bit better, and she didn't plan on adding to her injuries tonight if she could help it.

[and one more time, from here (http://community.livejournal.com/damned/395974.html?view=32303558#t32303558)]

A brief interval later, Leon returned. He was now wearing the clothing taken from the patient possessions room, less the blazer and cravat, and he had the broom handle freed of the straw end. In the place of the straw was his kitchen knife, taped to the broom handle with that silvery fabric tape he'd found in the janitor's closet--it wasn't as strong as a real spear, but it would do for now. He also had the metal pipe with him, though he'd left the syringes and everything else in his room. "Ready."

Seiya nodded, and blinked at the improvised spear. She wasn't sure she'd trust her box cutter to the end of her mop handle, even if it were a proper knife (and where had he gotten that? She could use one!) but it wasn't a bad idea. Especially as a way to avoid getting in too close to a monster. Seiya preferred having something harsh to be able to use in-close just in case, but she didn't like the idea of what kind of situation would call for her to be slicing up creatures at an intimate distance. "All right, let's go."
