Nightshift 32: F-A block hallway
[ from here ]
Shion continued to move down the hall, her eyes peering around at every corner she could see. Sadly, she was yet to see these so called “monsters”, but she knew that could always happen later, too.
Hm, first things first. She had to at least get out of the female block. Then she’d be able to figure out exactly where she was planning on going.
And so, Shion continued down the hallway, humming a song as she went.

"Auauauu." Sliding to a halt, Hanyuu moved her flashlight from one end of the hall to the other. There were others here, but none of them were Rika. Hopefully that meant her friend hadn't yet made it out of her room.
The spirit tried to be happy at that thought, but the despair was already beginning to creep in. Hanyuu often did or said things that Rika didn't approve of, but the other girl had never flat out ignored her because of it. And Hanyuu was sure that she hadn't done anything here that would've made Rika mad... Adding on the fact that her friend hadn't eaten anything all day, it was near impossible to not assume things...
Shaking her head, Hanyuu turned off the flashlight. Rika would be okay; she just had to be! She had probably just slept all day; Hanyuu had done that before herself. She'd just wait a little while, then Rika would come out and everything would be fine.

Hugging the flashlight to her chest, and moving as quietly as she could in slipper-clad feet, the spirit moved backwards until her back was pressed firmly to the wall. Monsters only showed up in that front room, didn't they? That had been the only time Hanyuu had seen anything, at least. She had never seen or heard any other monsters since then, so... So what was this?
...on second thought, she really didn't want to know.
Biting her lip in an effort to not make any sounds, Hanyuu tried to press back even more. It had to be the thousandth time she'd wished for it, but she found herself wishing once more that she could pass through walls as she had done in Hinamizawa. Here, all she could do was hold her breath and wait, hoping that the creature passed her by.

Not deterred in the least, the insect scuttled closer, antennae twitching curiously.

Worse than not knowing what it was, though, was not knowing where it was. That could easily be solved if she only turned on her flashlight and took another look around, but she was wary of drawing the things attention. After all, there were others in this hall, right? There was a chance that the creature was targeting one of them.
Despite her best efforts, the spirit whimpered. She knew she wasn't that lucky; how she had survived five days in this place was a wonder to her. Then again, she doubted she would've lived past her first night if Arlene hadn't been there...
Hanyuu's breath caught at that thought. Arlene wasn't here now, and that creature was moving closer as the seconds passed. Was the thing anything like those monsters that had been in the front room? Did it have teeth and claws, and was it going to... was it going to...
Run! Run! The same word repeated in her mind, but Hanyuu remained frozen where she stood.

The moment something touched her leg, the spirit screamed and instantly kicked out. Staying in the dark didn't seem like such a good idea anymore either, since it was clear the thing had already found her. So, scurrying to the side, Hanyuu fumbled with her flashlight for a few seconds before finally managing to turn it on. She then looked around the ground, trying to see what it was she was dealing with.

Moving along the wall, the spirit began sliding to the side. Thoughts of waiting for Rika were, for the moment, forgotten. All she wanted to do was get out of that hall, away from whatever that creature was.

Of course, all thoughts of laughing were forgotten once the cockroach began go move. She hadn't expected it to move as quickly as it did, and she really didn't want to find out why it seemed so interested in getting close to her. Letting out a short cry, Hanyuu kicked once more--although rather than trying to hit the insect with her foot, she kicked her slipper at it. Hopefully that would buy her some time.

Kicking off the other slipper, not bothering to aim for the insect this time, Hanyuu ran as quickly as she could down the hall.
