Nightshift 32: M-C Block Hallway
[From here.]
Meandering about like this was really just a waste of his time, but Sync strove forward anyway with that same bored expression as he made his way into the next area.
It was true that he wanted to explore outside and examine any weak spots for escape, yet it wasn’t on the top of his list of things to do. No, instead he was more curious about what ludicrous lives the staff plastered on top of them. The God-General was used to shadowing his own identity, so it was interesting from his point to see what they’ve managed to conjure up in their spare time.
Call it an acquired taste.
He followed the wall from the time he entered the room, allowing the tips of his fingers to run along the surface before he exited into another hallway.

There were voices not too far away, but shining his light around in this hall revealed that he was alone for now. This was definitely someone's idea of a freakfest, turning off all the lights and unlocking the doors at once like that. Straight out of a horror game, and terribly cliché.
Matt knew better than to start asking the darkness if anyone was there. The last thing he wanted to do was attract attention. For now, he was simply going to listen to whatever he could hear the hall over, keeping his own room close enough that he could dash to it if need be.

Aidou wasn't stupid. Depending on how one argued, prowling like this was more detrimental to him than the alternative. Still, when it came down to it, scary a few humans without actually harming them was better than taking blood handouts like a dependent pet. When he thought of it like that, Kiryu always came to mind, and that wouldn't ever be him.
So the young vampire slipped inside the cell block, through the open door left open by dozens of passing people. In comparison to the previous halls, the corridor was practically abandoned... Except for one. A male? Not a boy, but not an adult... If judging by looks alone, not really his type at all. But he was thin (and weak builds often only hid strength when it came to vampires), unarmed, and alone. And another fairly new face.
Keeping his distance, Aidou circled like a noiseless predator, putting himself into a position to attack.
He liked routine, but he also knew it was bad to fall into when it came to staying ahead of the 'law'. Another crude blow to a back of a neck was just asking for trouble. But tonight he didn't have much choice, as usual. Not unless he stayed his hand and used more delicate powers instead--the only problem with that approach was that freezing the blood in a human's veins was good for killing, not getting a good meal, and the rest of his abilities were severely weakened or gone. Almost a full minute went by. He didn't have the patience for a lure, and although he loathed to admit it sometimes, brute force coupled with surprise was effective more often than not. Especially in keeping his identity to himself.
It was a good thing that Aidou wasn't the type to hesitate once he made a decision. When he finally lunged at the guy from behind, he did so with the full intent to incapacitate the other male so he could feed in peace.

He swayed only a moment before going limp, fully unconscious for the time being, and free to be anyone's prey.

It wasn't like Aidou was professional at this sort of stuff, either. Unsure of the best way to get a grip on the unconscious body--and Aidou needed to find an empty room, damn it--he just held Matt high enough off the floor that his dangling appendages didn't drag.
