Nightshift 30: M35, Clinic

Oh. Oh dear. Despite knowing little of the man on the radio in a personal sense, the news hit him hard. He wasn't sure if it was true, but... why would the doctor lie? If it weren't true, they'd find out easily enough, so it would be pointless. Right?

Oh, he was a horrible man! A part of Tamaki wished that he could fight, so he could help take down that awful person himself. But he knew it was just a flight of fancy. But what would they do now? Without any clues at all?

Sighing, he hung up the sign for the clinic. He needed to talk to Ed so badly, but he had his duties here. Even if he wasn't the best or the fastest, he could still do things. And he had to. So he sat down and waited, for either arrivals or some contradiction to what the Head Doctor had said.

Just in case.

Uh yeah, painkillers were probably a good idea. Ed wasn't sure what he'd been thinking to not mention them. He supposed that Adel just didn't seem like the type who would ever need them. Ed settled on the edge of the bed near Adel's knee, careful not to jostle him and cause further hurt to the leg.

"I'm just going to push the leg of your trousers up so I can get a better look at it," he said, looking up at Adel's face. He didn't want to startle him or anything. "Then we can bandage it or whatever needs doing."

Adelheid accepted the painkiller in one hand, staring at it with something almost like disgust on his face. To think that he'd been so wounded that he needed something like that! He was a weak failure, and he deserved the pain he got. To not accept it was shameful, weak, and disgraceful. Yet he had to; otherwise he'd be in agony. So he swallowed the thing dry, grimacing as he did so.

After that, Adelheid slowly nodded in acknowledgment to what Edward was saying. The medicine had a bitter taste, and even the slightest moment sent searing pain through his body; even still Adelheid knew what had to be done. That was why he gritted his teeth and let his crimson eyes slide shut; it was going to be painful enough without watching the damage unveiled for everyone in the room to see.

(Since Fey is on Hiatus)

Ed looked over the damage critically, forcing down his immediate reaction to wince at the sight of the broken leg. He knew it would get fixed up before breakfast, fixed up properly, but did he want to take chance?

He fumbled in his pocket, pulling out a wad of paper that he'd drawn up alchemical symbols on earlier, and held it out to Adel, giving him a serious look. "Read that and try to learn them. It might distract you a bit while I bandage your leg." He reached for the supplies that Tamaki had given him, antiseptic and bandages and he just hoped that he could do a good job of it.
