Nightshift 30: M35, Clinic
Oh. Oh dear. Despite knowing little of the man on the radio in a personal sense, the news hit him hard. He wasn't sure if it was true, but... why would the doctor lie? If it weren't true, they'd find out easily enough, so it would be pointless. Right?
Oh, he was a horrible man! A part of Tamaki wished that he could fight, so he could help take down that awful person himself. But he knew it was just a flight of fancy. But what would they do now? Without any clues at all?
Sighing, he hung up the sign for the clinic. He needed to talk to Ed so badly, but he had his duties here. Even if he wasn't the best or the fastest, he could still do things. And he had to. So he sat down and waited, for either arrivals or some contradiction to what the Head Doctor had said.
Just in case.

"If you can see to his arm, I'll take care of his shoulder," she spoke to Kyon, giving him the permission he seemed to be waiting for.
Shifting around the bed, she met Shadow's gaze and gave him a crooked smile. "You just got jealous of all the attention I got the other night, didn't you?" she teased him mildly, giving him something to distract himself with as she leaned over his bleeding shoulder and began to carefully clean it with whatever potion was in the small bottle, knowing it would sting as before.

He was still worried, and the worry wouldn't ease until morning, but he was reasonably assured there was no immediate danger.

Making sure it was tight, Kyon tied to bandage to hold it in place. "That should be okay until tomorrow." He said standing up and looking his handy work over.

Straightening, she glanced at the bandage work on Shadow's arm and gave Kyon a relieved smile. "It's well-wrapped. Thank you for your help. Would you like to do his shoulder, too? Or I can take over. I've not had as much practice at it, but I think I can manage, now that we've got his injuries cleaned. Unless you have something mild for the pain to give him? I know Tamaki had several types of little capsules of something the other night."

Shadow looked up at Valyn and his smile brightened. Maybe it was the strange euphoria pain brought on or maybe he was just glad to have Valyn next to him. He shifted over and sat up, kissing Valyn's cheek. "I'm grateful for Keman keeping you safe," he whispered. "Let's make this the last time we're in the clinic, though. I'm sure they're tired of seeing us here."

Perhaps it seemed cold to the others in the room that Shadow's affection was met with a somewhat cold rebuff, but it was simply how Valyn was. And he knew they'd be here again. They couldn't go out at night without risking injury.

As soon as he'd been given the supplies, Mello walked over to the small group and picked up the gauze to snip off a neat square. He left the scissors dangling from his smallest finger as he grabbed the brown container and inspected it, making sure it was what Tamaki had claimed. Although Tamaki had mentioned Kyon, he didn't recognize him and assumed that everyone present had arrived with the injured boy.
"I'm Mello," he announced without lifting his eyes from the bottle. Once satisfied, he wet the square of gauze and slid it across the tip of the needle, then wiped his fingers clean and set the soiled cloth aside. His movements were quick and neat, but despite the care he took in arranging supplies, his expression was all business. He was here to provide medical attention, not compassion.
"I'm going to suture your arm," he continued. "It'll control the blood loss better than gauze, and you don't look like you can afford to lose more blood." The statement was theoretically true, and his expression didn't reveal that he considered the job a waste of time and energy. He glanced up from the needle to gauge the competence of the uninjured three. The bandaging wasn't bad, so at least one of them knew what they were doing. "Who wrapped his shoulder?" he asked.
Despite Tamaki's warning, Mello clearly didn't expect to be met with much resistance.

He eyed the needle with curiosity before he looked over to Valyn and Shadow. If the reaction to the stitching was the same as last time, Kyon didn't want Shadow to freak out with those kinds of injuries.
On the subject of the bandages, Kyon answered, "I did." He watched to see what their reaction would be. Mello had explained what stitching would do, maybe they would be better favored towards it.

"Are you a healer?" she asked, propping her hands on her hips, wondering if Shadow and Valyn would consent even if this stranger was.
no subject
Yes. He was.
"Uh, really, I'm fine," Shadow said, backing up, panic in his eyes. "It's just a scratch. You don't have to stick me. My arm won't fall off. I promise."
