Nightshift 30: M-C Block Hallway
[[from here]]
It didn't take long to scurry down the short hallway and into the main block one. His flashlight bounced along as he went, not quite a run, not quite a walk. He'd feel much better once he was clear of most of the people here. At least, that's what he told himself. The truth was, as much as it scared him to face Kurogane or the others, it scared him a lot more to think of facing the things that lurked here in the dark by himself.

Rounding the corner quickly, Mason spun around, trying to catch any evil creatures in the beam of his flashlight. But the hallway seemed more or less deserted.
"Thank fucking god," he mumbled to himself. Creeping along slowly, he headed for the door at the end of the hall.

It seemed finding someone to accompany him for tonight happened to be less difficult this time. Scar's feline eyes quickly spotted a beam, with a human silhouette to go with it. A human male, he suspected. Sneaking up on this man hardly left a good impression, however. He switched his lightstick on, giving away his presence as he approached the person somewhat cautiously.

"Who goes there?" he demanded, trying to lower his voice to sound gruff and manly.
He really hoped it wasn't someone who was going to set him on fire again.

"And who do I have the pleasure of running into tonight?"

"I... uh... I'm Mason," he said. "I'm... um... I'm going for waffles." He pointed down the hallway towards the door, moving rather jerkily as he wasn't sure of his footing with this bloke.
The reaper swallowed hard. "I like waffles," he explained.

"Uh..." the reaper started, scratching behind his ear. "They're like... um... like pancakes. Sort of flat and bready, but you put them in a waffle iron, so they have a funny shape. Like, round, but with... with dents in..." He gestured uselessly, stabbing the air with his finger to represent the dents.
"C'mon with me. I'm just going to the kitchen. You can see waffles for yourself, mate," he suggested, and began walking backwards down the hallway, watching to see if the weird waffle-not-knowing fellow followed him.

"Very well, I will accompany you." Scar answered, following the human man. If anything, the trip to this 'kitchen' would be educational.
Or so he hoped.
