Nightshift 30: M1-10 Hallway

Renji slowed a little as he headed up the hallway, sweeping the ceiling with his flashlight. So far, no giant spiders. He liked that. It wasn't that he had anything against spiders; he wasn't some pansy that was afraid of a little bug. Or a big one. He just hadn't liked the feeling of getting bitten and poisoned.

He went to the room almost at the end of the hallway - M2.

So much for that idea. Kadaj hadn't really been all that intent on leaving Hughes behind, but it had at least been worth a shot. Besides, old habits die hard.

Not even glancing at the map, he said, "I've explored most of the first floor, but very little of the second. I was going to with my brother-- Yazoo, not the other ones-- but he disappeared. What about you?" Hughes had likely explored more than him as part of his Cooking Group duties, but Kadaj didn't know for sure. He really should have paid more attention to others before now.

"Some of the second floor," Hughes admitted. "But we were looking for doors we could unlock, so I can't say I've got too detailed a layout. May as well head up there, then."

He'd heard there were a variety of things to be found, after all. "Maybe we can gather some supplies. Sound good?"

Supplies? Ohh, he liked that idea-- unless he had to share, of course. Then again, now that he was a part of a group, he probably would, wouldn't he? Damn it.

All the same, Kadaj was unable to keep the smile off of his face as he nodded and said, "Yes, that sounds good. Any supplies in particular, or are we after anything we can get?"

"Anything we can get." Hughes wasn't in the mood to be picky. "We'll see what there is, what can be used, that sort of thing." And what they could carry.

"You've got the big sword, you want to lead the way?"

That suited Kadaj just fine. All he really needed was metal anyway, so surely Hughes wouldn't mind if what he grabbed just so happened to lean heavily in that direction? It wasn't like there was anything really more useful than that, right?

"This from the man who said I shouldn't go off by myself?" he shot back teasingly, tossing a smirk in Hughes's direction. "Well, if you're sure..."

Laughing, he swept down the hall, not even glancing back to see if Hughes would follow.
