Day 30: Cafeteria, Dinner

The cafeteria was all but empty when Zelnick got there. He was a little disappointed; he had gotten the impression that patients usually ate dinner in their rooms, so he hadn't arranged to meet anyone, and there really wasn't anyone to sit by and engage in conversation yet.

Quietly, he collected dinner and a big glass of orange juice, and chose a seat near the food-serving counters. Talking for so long had made him thirsty... and, well, fruit juice was a luxury he had missed.

Usagi stared mournfully at Takaya's discarded plate as he spoke, how could anyone waste food like that!

"You know, even if you aren't going to do anything tonight you really should eat... it's not healthy to skip meals."

Takaya shrugged. "I ate earlier. I'm not hungry anymore." The food was still warm so he pushed it slightly in Usagi's direction. "If you want it, you can have it."

The offer was one of his better attempts at being polite. He wasn't very good at it.

"No, I'm full!" Usagi shook her head, blushing slightly. Normally she would have jumped over the table to get free food, but she felt too guilty taking it from this boy. "But thank you," she added with a smile.

Takaya shrugged a shoulder. "Suit yourself." He wasn't feeling as upset as he had been before. He wondered for a moment why. Usually, all it took was human contact and he was ready to beat the hell out of someone. This otaku wasn't pissing him off.

It was ... refreshing. Not that he'd admit it. He tried to relax a bit, his expression losing some of it's anger as he settled a bit more into his chair. What good would it do to be so upset now anyway?
