Day 30: Staff, Morning

Burly orderlies and agile Calm Effect nurses flooded the cafeteria from the Courtyard while regular hall nurses filed in from the Sun Room and ushered out those not involved in the rebellion. It indeed seemed as if Landel was sending out all the cavalry, and an effective cavalry they were: The riot didn't continue for much longer after the alarm sounded, though it seemed strange just how quickly all of the mutinous patients fell, even the ones who hadn't been injected with anything.

The hall nurses were quick to escort their well-behaved charges back to their rooms, praising those who hadn't joined in and chiding those who muttered under their breath in response. There were some exceptions, of course: One nice young man had even defended one of the nurses from the violent patients! Now, wasn't that exemplary behavior? Dr. Landel would be so proud to hear about it...

Within half an hour, all of the so-called "loyal" patients had been safely deposited in their rooms, and it was then that the alarm finally stopped and the true difficulty of the situation was tackled. There certainly weren't enough rooms in solitary to accommodate such rampant disobedience, and yet measures would have to be taken to ensure proper consequences for each and every patient involved. After all, something like this couldn't be allowed to happen again!

Different options were considered. Perhaps they should make an example out of the girl who had sparked the riot, but then again, perhaps not. This certainly wasn't the first case of patients attacking nurses or their peers in a crowded area, but what had been different this time was the sheer support that the other patients had shown for her. Should the staff then make examples of all those who had tried to "protect" her from the well-meaning nurses? No, there were too many for that...

In the end, it was decided that the best immediate solution would be to treat the rebellious patients in the Medical Wing while they were unconscious and then move them back to their rooms to await punishment. To ensure the safety of both their roommates and the patients themselves, however, the staff decided to securely fasten their limbs to their beds and keep them heavily drugged. Such a sad sight they were to see, but... it was necessary.

Finally, when each and every patient had been escorted back to their respective rooms, the staff hurried off to an emergency meeting upstairs. Strangely, Head Nurse Lydia was the one taking care of the proceedings in the Head Doctor's stead. She calmly told them that he was preoccupied with more urgent matters, and as she began to speak to the crowd, the staff could only wonder what could possibly be more important than an unprecedented patient riot...

What Falis was describing sounded like a nurse, but Usagi never had the misfortune of running into one at night. The bit about poison was good to know, but it caused a shiver to run down her spine.

"Err... I haven't fought him before, but you can ask about it on the bulletin board-- it's in the Sun Room." She gave Falis a concerned look. "But if you're hurt you shouldn't go looking for monsters!"

Bulletin Board. Sun Room. Find the pyramid guy there. Got it. Not exactly what Usagi had told her, but it was what the blonde bounty hunter had committed to memory. She'd make sure to see to that later.

...if she ever figured out where the Sun Room was.

Anyways, Falis smirked cockily at the other blonde and gestured to her injured, a few bandages peeking out from underneath her collar also visible as well as yet another bandage on her right foot to match the one on her right hand. "What these? This is nothing," she said dismissively.

She grinned. "Wanna come with me? It'll be fun."

Usagi frowned thoughtfully as Falis showed off her injuries. The senshi slid off her bed, digging underneath it for something. "Well, I'm meeting some friends tonight--" she answered as she pulled herself back out with her pillow case of goodies, "--I'm not sure what we're doing yet, but I still need a weapon. You can come with us if you want!"

Usagi pulled a package of gauze out of the bag. "Here!" she called out cheerfully as she tossed it across the room to Falis. "They bandage us up in the morning, but it's still good to have extra!"

"Ah. I think I will," Falis replied to the invitation. A weapon would be good to have for when she found the pyramid guy.

The package thrown was easily caught by the bounty hunter and she looked down at it. She turned the package over carefully, looking at both sides. Feel and what Usagi had said told her they were some cloth for wounds, but she'd never seen such things put inside an odd paper package. She turned it over again before tearing the corner of it open and peering inside. Satisfied, she put the package under her pillow with a nod. Such fine materials they used in these lands of ancient technology.

"Who're your friends?"

Usagi smiled as she watched the girl inspect the package as if she'd never seen anything like it before. They could check out the storage room again tonight-- if there weren't any more bugs up there.

"My friend Ami, she's probably the smartest person from our world, and--" Usagi paused, she wasn't actually sure if the general was joining them tonight, "--we invited this man we know, Kunzite, but he hasn't RSVPed yet."

"It's always good to have smart friends around," Falis replied. They could do the important thinking, leaving princesses free to kill chimera giants and stuff like that. She sighed a little; she'd never admit it, but she missed Dominikov and Pete a lot.

"Ummm... what's 'RSVPed' mean?"

"It stands for... er, respond swiftly and very properly," Usagi answered, she wasn't sure that was right but it sounded like it made sense. "I'll just leave a message for him on the bulletin later..."

"Do you have any friends you want to invite?" Bigger groups had their advantages and disadvantages, but it wouldn't be right to leave someone out.

"Oh. Why do you have to use such a long phrase and initials and stuff just to say 'hey, you wanna' anyways? Seems kind of pointless," Falis replied. It sounded an awful lot like all the crap she had to sit through when attending formal court. As for friends...

The only one out of the kids she'd met last night whose name she knew was Sora; she didn't even get the name of the healer either.

"Nah. I never got the name of the boys I helped out last night." She grinned. "It's just me."

"Yeah, it does sound really dumb," Usagi replied with a sheepish laugh.

Not having to worry about extra people made things a little easier. "Okay!" Just as she spoke the intercom clicked on, this time with a woman's voice.

"They're bringing us to the Sun Room straight away? Lucky~!" It didn't sound so lucky for the people who started the fighting though... The door clicked; nurses ready to escort them undoubtedly behind it. "I'm going to go find Ami, I'll see you later, kay?"

Re: F22

[identity profile] himetsuru.livejournal.com 2008-02-17 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
The intercom startled Falis and she tensed up, her eyes darting about the room as she looked or the source of the voice. Her eyes eventually fell on the metal box up by the ceiling. She stared at it a little puzzled, but chalked it all up to that ancient forbidden technology.

She really didn't like it, though.

"Umm... yeah. See you later," Falis replied to Usagi, looking over at the door as it clicked.

Then it dawned on her that Usagi said they were being taken right to the Sun Room. Bulletin board, Sun Room, pyramid guy. This was going to save her some time trying to find it on her own. She grinned and cracked her knuckles as she went to find her shoes.

Lucky indeed.
