Day 29: Cafeteria, Brunch

Hitsugaya left the chapel no less frustrated than before. The head doctor once again had chosen not to hide his face, yet promised he would be making an appearance at some time in the near future. He didn't like being patient, but there wasn't much choice. Either the head doctor would show his face, or he wouldn't. Renji had already seen him, and knew how to find him. That was enough.

The thought of eating made him slightly nauseous as usual, but he knew he needed to get his strength up. He could either be weak and try to force his way through brunch without eating anything, or he could be smart and actually give himself something to eat. And there was rice. Rice and fruit. He took a heaping pile of rice, and grabbed as much watermelon as he could fit on his plate, then proceeded to an empty table. He scanned the room, watching for Momo. He wasn't exactly looking forward to their conversation, knowing how she'd acted yesterday; however, he knew he had to speak to her, and there was a good chance that she would show more restraint now that the drugs were out of her system.

Thoughtfully he consumed his rice and waited.

[free at the moment, pester if you wish]

The air around Saetan takes on a slight chill as he nods, his eyes seeming oddly distant. "And not just the building. Whomever is behind it must die, whether it's this Dr. Landel or someone else. Half-justice is no justice at all."

Kenren didn't even seem to notice the way the air cooled. He'd been seething since last night anyway, he wasn't being as observent as he should be. It would change when night came, but for now, he just didn't care enough.

"Landel and whoever is supporting him. I know he spoke about having superiors." Heh, maybe it was time to try and topple another government. "It'll happen. I don't think once we get a chance, that they've got any way of holding back this many people from tearing them apart."

Talking this plainly about their eventual turning of the tables has Saetan nearly on the edge of his seat as he's near his own killing edge. His eyes seemed glazed, though the temperature hasn't dropped any more than it had. His voice takes on a silkly, almost sing-song quality that anyone who'd tangled wtih Daemon last night might recognize. It was a trait they shared.

"They should expect no less, so I'd imagine that the more powerful people are here, the more our captors have to worry about our eventual revenge. Just my son and I could burn out their minds for all eternity."

A dangerous man indeed, from the way that he was speaking. Kenren had known a few in his time, had been one of them, he could tell the type. "They're overconfident, I think," Kenren replied, glancing around at the nurses. He frowned. "I wonder why no-one's coordinated an attack during the day. They have sedatives, sure, but there's a hell of a lot of us to take down, and some aren't exactly weak, even with whatever powers they have sealed." Surely they'd be able to do some damage.

"I haven't been here long enough to organize anything," Saetan admitted. "And I've been pre-occupied with my son. He was never stable to begin with, and I don't believe this environment is helping him any."

This was a good opportunity to consider what the man suggested. "The idea has some merit, but organizing it would be tricky. The easiest means of communication is monitored for all the staff to see. And the few of us with other methods are severely limited."

"Yeah, I've had a few odd preoccupations of my own," Kenren said, a wry smile on his lips at the thought. Too many, and he hadn't seen Goku in ages either, but it was Hakkai that still worried him the most. "I don't think this environment is helping anyone, so I can understand the preoccupation."

He thouht over that for a few moments, eyes narrowing in thought. There had been just the four of them back when they'd rebelled, no need for keeping thins from each other. "And word of mouth is risky at best. There's no guarantee that someone wouldn't sell everyone out."

"There's a risk either way, but word of mouth has only a chance of going wrong. The bulletin board strikes me as blatantly asking for failure."

The anger was fading a bit, and he allowed himself to relax. That lazy cold gleam faded from his eyes. "If a plan could be made that accounts for using as many as possible in the best way, I'd support it."
