Day 29: Cafeteria, Brunch

Hitsugaya left the chapel no less frustrated than before. The head doctor once again had chosen not to hide his face, yet promised he would be making an appearance at some time in the near future. He didn't like being patient, but there wasn't much choice. Either the head doctor would show his face, or he wouldn't. Renji had already seen him, and knew how to find him. That was enough.

The thought of eating made him slightly nauseous as usual, but he knew he needed to get his strength up. He could either be weak and try to force his way through brunch without eating anything, or he could be smart and actually give himself something to eat. And there was rice. Rice and fruit. He took a heaping pile of rice, and grabbed as much watermelon as he could fit on his plate, then proceeded to an empty table. He scanned the room, watching for Momo. He wasn't exactly looking forward to their conversation, knowing how she'd acted yesterday; however, he knew he had to speak to her, and there was a good chance that she would show more restraint now that the drugs were out of her system.

Thoughtfully he consumed his rice and waited.

"I do have a question for you, though, was the killing business or pleasure?" There was always the possibility that Farfarello would answer 'both', but Wesker wanted to know if Farfarello was for hire, and this was as good a way to ask as any.

Farfarello seemed like the type of person who could be useful, but like all killers, had to be handled carefully if Wesker didn't want this to turn into something complicated.

"This particular time it was principle first, pleasure second. Idiot tried to steal shit from my room." Even coming into Farfarello's room without permission was a crim punishable by death, as far as he was concerned, but actively trying to take stuff, oh, that was the worst. "Business is a little slow in a place with no money."

"I suppose you would have to make due with payments other than money? Money does one little good in this place, I doubt we could buy our way out of here," Well, perhaps there were ways to gain exit through some sort of bribery, but that path held no interest for Wesker.

"There are other things that would be much more useful than cash in this place."

"Most people who are competent enough to acquire the valuable things in this place are competent enough to do their own dirty work." Farfarello sneered in pure disgust, as he thought of Rufus ShinRa. "And then there are those who are all talk." He was still angry about ShinRa getting a free night of work out of them.

"Sometimes it is prudent for people to not be seen with any dirt on their hands. Or to be seen having a hand in such things at all," The problem with using his own employees was that it was easy enough to trace something back to him.

Occasionally, outsourcing was very useful.

Farfarello snorted faintly but didn't say anything for a moment, concentrating on his meal. He had zero respect for this kind of person, but it was exactly this kind of person that made it possible for Schwarz to make a living as assassins. Well, there was no rule that one had to respect one's employers in this business, thankfully.

After finally finishing the food on his plate, Farfarello spoke again. "Well, if you wanna talk terms, I'm not your guy. I'll let the bossman know you're interested and send him your way. Don't think you can get by with big talk and empty promises, though--our telepath'll be vetting your offer before we accept it." And fortunately, Wesker was not pretty enough to distract Schuldig from business concerns.

"I'll keep that in mind if I need to do some outsourcing," The fact that there might be a telepath involved set off warning alarms all over Wesker's mind.

This group would be filed away for emergency use only, but he could see a few potential emergencies in the future.

"And I do not make empty promises," Wesker smiled pleasantly at Farfarello, already forming plans.
