Day 29: Cafeteria, Brunch

Hitsugaya left the chapel no less frustrated than before. The head doctor once again had chosen not to hide his face, yet promised he would be making an appearance at some time in the near future. He didn't like being patient, but there wasn't much choice. Either the head doctor would show his face, or he wouldn't. Renji had already seen him, and knew how to find him. That was enough.

The thought of eating made him slightly nauseous as usual, but he knew he needed to get his strength up. He could either be weak and try to force his way through brunch without eating anything, or he could be smart and actually give himself something to eat. And there was rice. Rice and fruit. He took a heaping pile of rice, and grabbed as much watermelon as he could fit on his plate, then proceeded to an empty table. He scanned the room, watching for Momo. He wasn't exactly looking forward to their conversation, knowing how she'd acted yesterday; however, he knew he had to speak to her, and there was a good chance that she would show more restraint now that the drugs were out of her system.

Thoughtfully he consumed his rice and waited.

Farfarello quirked an eyebrow at Wesker. It looked odd on his bruised face, especially with the recently-set broken cheekbone and the swelling along his jaw. "William's friend, yeah? Or wife. Very hard to tell, the way you two bickered."

He assumed this had something to do with last night. The details were hazy--he'd been pretty out of it by that point--but Farfarello was 90% sure that he had neither dreamed nor hallucinated the unorthodox meeting with William. "So, what is it you want from me?"

"William already has a wife, and I assure you. That little bickering is nothing compared to the two of them when they go at it," Wesker was not going to be provoked so easily. Certainly not over anything that had to do with William's immaturity. The man still acted like he had when he was sixteen.

"I was just looking for someone to sit with at breakfast, but if you can offer me something I'm all ears."

[identity profile] jei.livejournal.com 2007-12-26 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Farfarello wasn't exactly putting a lot of effort into trying to get a rise out of Wesker--he liked his meals, at least, to be relatively peaceful. "Hmm. I would have figured William would have still been kinda giddy this morning, the way he was acting last night. But I guess, with a personality like that, him showing up with dead bodies is ordinary enough that you don't bother asking questions anymore."

William was so obviously the wife, in retrospect.

"He was quite happy this morning. And while he did tell me that he had acquired a body, I didn't ask the specifics of how," So Farfarello had killed someone last night. Interesting, Farfarello could likely be useful in the future if Wesker needed someone to be killed.

Normally he used Krauser for that, but he wasn't quite so certain the Man of Malevolence was still loyal to him. And it would be good to have someone who was not obviously and directly in his employ.

"One grows accustomed to William's eccentric behavior after a while."

[identity profile] jei.livejournal.com 2007-12-27 12:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"I know how that goes." Farfarello laughed softly, spearing a piece of bacon with his sad little spork. "So does my partner," he added, freely acknowledging his own 'eccentricities'.

"It's never really made sense to me why normal people have so much trouble accomodating each other's minor quirks. You'd think that having at least as much patience as a sociopath would be sort of a requirement to qualify as normal in the first place."

[identity profile] no-side-effects.livejournal.com 2007-12-31 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
In truth, William was the only person who could get away with such behavior. Useful underlings were allowed a certain amount of quirks, more so if they were particularly useful.

Right now, Wesker was in no position to go around making enemies, so he was going to be more 'accommodating' than he was under normal circumstances.

"Yes, of course, I would hardly call myself normal, but most people manage to put up with me."

Farfarello made a soft, neutral sort of noise, before finally commenting, "I'll bet they do." Probably on threat of something bad happening if they didn't.

Wesker reminded him of Crawford, and not in a good way. At least Crawford's quiet scheming and unreadable expressions were generally to the benefit of Schwarz--who the hell knew what this guy was up to. Farfarello hated not being able to read someone.

"I do have a question for you, though, was the killing business or pleasure?" There was always the possibility that Farfarello would answer 'both', but Wesker wanted to know if Farfarello was for hire, and this was as good a way to ask as any.

Farfarello seemed like the type of person who could be useful, but like all killers, had to be handled carefully if Wesker didn't want this to turn into something complicated.

[identity profile] jei.livejournal.com 2008-01-05 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"This particular time it was principle first, pleasure second. Idiot tried to steal shit from my room." Even coming into Farfarello's room without permission was a crim punishable by death, as far as he was concerned, but actively trying to take stuff, oh, that was the worst. "Business is a little slow in a place with no money."

[identity profile] no-side-effects.livejournal.com 2008-01-06 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
"I suppose you would have to make due with payments other than money? Money does one little good in this place, I doubt we could buy our way out of here," Well, perhaps there were ways to gain exit through some sort of bribery, but that path held no interest for Wesker.

"There are other things that would be much more useful than cash in this place."

[identity profile] jei.livejournal.com 2008-01-07 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
"Most people who are competent enough to acquire the valuable things in this place are competent enough to do their own dirty work." Farfarello sneered in pure disgust, as he thought of Rufus ShinRa. "And then there are those who are all talk." He was still angry about ShinRa getting a free night of work out of them.

"Sometimes it is prudent for people to not be seen with any dirt on their hands. Or to be seen having a hand in such things at all," The problem with using his own employees was that it was easy enough to trace something back to him.

Occasionally, outsourcing was very useful.

[identity profile] jei.livejournal.com 2008-01-11 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Farfarello snorted faintly but didn't say anything for a moment, concentrating on his meal. He had zero respect for this kind of person, but it was exactly this kind of person that made it possible for Schwarz to make a living as assassins. Well, there was no rule that one had to respect one's employers in this business, thankfully.

After finally finishing the food on his plate, Farfarello spoke again. "Well, if you wanna talk terms, I'm not your guy. I'll let the bossman know you're interested and send him your way. Don't think you can get by with big talk and empty promises, though--our telepath'll be vetting your offer before we accept it." And fortunately, Wesker was not pretty enough to distract Schuldig from business concerns.

[identity profile] no-side-effects.livejournal.com 2008-01-11 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'll keep that in mind if I need to do some outsourcing," The fact that there might be a telepath involved set off warning alarms all over Wesker's mind.

This group would be filed away for emergency use only, but he could see a few potential emergencies in the future.

"And I do not make empty promises," Wesker smiled pleasantly at Farfarello, already forming plans.
