Day 29: Sun Room
It was with some relief that Yuuhi awoke the next morning, in his own bed, sore and tired and achy. He would've slept more had they let him, his face down in the pillow, away from all the others and their questions and their concern. He didn't want to see them, but he managed a little smile when the nurse came in and didn't object when she lead him out into the open hallway that had been splattered with blood, plenty of it his, just last night.
The Chapel or the Sun Room? He felt he had good reason not to be terribly religious and had a feeling he wouldn't be very welcome there anyway. The Sun Room would be nice though. It was bright and cheery and he could always doodle or write notes on the community board if he'd nothing better to do. Besides, the nurse was kind enough to let him take a book with him.
He found a seat on one of the couches, far from the entrance and seated himself in the far corner, legs scrunched up against his chest so he only took up one of the cushions. He opened up where he'd left off, fingers carefully turning the worn pages of Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz.

It seemed as though yet another morning had approached. From what he’d been able to gather the previous night, the weapons Usopp had created had been satisfactory. Religion never appealed to him, and those that believed in such nonsense were those who were the easiest to manipulate. It was why Yuber found himself heading towards the Sun Room instead.
Moving over to one of the free couches, the Black Knight draped himself down onto one of the sofas as he glanced around the room. There was the odd face that he recognised, but for once he found that he couldn’t be bothered approaching any of them. Leaning back languidly on the cushion, Yuber’s mind absently made a curious thought towards Light, and half wondered just what the young human was up to.
He wasn’t use to being this inactive, but he would give the contracted human a while longer.

Even such an unobtrusive sound as distant chatter annoyed the Rune incarnation beyond everything else, and he moved to avoid confronting any of the others in the room. That was until he felt a twinge of recognition at the sight of a familiar mop of blonde hair.
‘No… it couldn’t be…’ The sentence sounded questionably within his mind, and despite the desire to have another from his realm here, the Star Dragon Sword most certainly would have preferred any one else other than this one… apart from that oaf Viktor of course, no situation was good while that baboon was around.
Storming his way over, he ignored anyone else in his path as he approached the blonde and barked out. “Of everyone on the planet you had to be the one stuck here.”

There was nothing he could be bothered doing at this moment – something that was rare for the knight, but for once Yuber remained quietly listening to his surroundings. The quiet solitude was disrupted though by the sounds of heavy footfalls marching right over towards him.
One eye opened to peer down towards the short midget which was closely followed by the as he observed the interloper. There was a short moment of unrecognition – Yuber wondering idly how one such as this would know him enough to say such a statement – before a flicker of awareness flashed through his eyes.
The Night Rune here?
Seeing the form it took, Yuber didn’t bother holding back the amused laugh as it smoothly filled the area, before glancing down at the flesh and blood form of the Night Rune. “I see that you’ve finally taken the final step and properly mirrored your image to the useless junk rune you are.”

“And I see that you’re still as appalling as always – managed to manipulate some poor fool yet into thinking you’re genuine?” The sword snapped in return to Yuber’s words.

Moving to relax back against the couch, one leg crossed over the other at the knee while Yuber continued regarding the other. He was more than well aware that with the Night Rune’s arrogance – he would never allow himself to wilfully take human form - which left the knight with the impression that the filthy Order rune was here not under his own free will. So did that mean that whoever summoned them both here were simply wanting to study how different beings dealt with such Chaotic situations, or was it more to do with pushing the edge of the fight between Chaos and Order? If the latter were the whole reason though, the pathetic power of the Night Rune wouldn’t have been called to this place, but his eternal stalker instead.
“So how long has Landel’s had the pleasure of your company?”

Folding his arms over his chest, the Night Rune levelled Yuber with an intense gaze. There was one tiny inconsistent though was tugging on his mind. The fact that Yuber was down with the ‘commoners’ was something that placed a small seed of doubt within his mind. Not to mention that the other should have already known the answer to that question. Experiencing what he had from the human wars, that pathetic excuse for a knight was almost never seen far from his master’s side.
“Two days.” The sword grudgingly muttered. “Does this mean that the great chaotic force hasn’t got anything to do with this little situation? I find that difficult to believe Yuber.”
no subject
“Give me more credit you dusty old rust bucket. It is unfortunate that I’m in the exact situation as you are.” Yuber muttered as he tilted his head back and brushed the blonde bangs away from his eyes. Laying his arms down across the top of the couch there was a definite air of ease around the knight as he chuckled softly. “Quite the situation we’ve found ourselves in hmm? Although seeing you in such a state has made the inconveniences this place has put my part almost worth while.”
no subject
“Knowing your treacherous ways you’ve already sunk your claws into the more unsavoury flesh bags within this institution.” Despite how much he despised the thought, the sword wasn’t entirely vain enough to realise that he was in need of aid. Those he’d come across so far either didn’t hold the power or cunning, or didn’t understand the gravity of this situation and the effects his absence would have in Suikoden. “However, you know as well as I do that we can not remain outside of our realm for long.”
no subject
“I’ve actually come to enjoy my stay here. There’s enough of a chaotic influence to make my workings far easier.” Yuber admitted easily. This building was very much his pickings, and with everything that went on within these walls, the knight could easily investigate things without drawing too much attention to himself. “Besides, my absence back in our realm is surely to bring about immense disorder with the unbalance… although I suppose with you here that counter-balances that little ploy.”
no subject
He’d known Yuber for far too long not to underestimate some of the thoughts behind this particular rock’s motives. Like all of the chaotic Runes they were not to be underestimated, and while most of them had very clear cut purposes within the world, the rune housed within Yuber’s shell was highly unpredictable at the best of times. With each encounter he’d experienced with the Eightfold fool, the Night Rune had easily noticed its tendency for making a quick escape. “The only reason you’d ever want to remain here would be to hide away from your shadow of death."
