Day 29: Sun Room
It was with some relief that Yuuhi awoke the next morning, in his own bed, sore and tired and achy. He would've slept more had they let him, his face down in the pillow, away from all the others and their questions and their concern. He didn't want to see them, but he managed a little smile when the nurse came in and didn't object when she lead him out into the open hallway that had been splattered with blood, plenty of it his, just last night.
The Chapel or the Sun Room? He felt he had good reason not to be terribly religious and had a feeling he wouldn't be very welcome there anyway. The Sun Room would be nice though. It was bright and cheery and he could always doodle or write notes on the community board if he'd nothing better to do. Besides, the nurse was kind enough to let him take a book with him.
He found a seat on one of the couches, far from the entrance and seated himself in the far corner, legs scrunched up against his chest so he only took up one of the cushions. He opened up where he'd left off, fingers carefully turning the worn pages of Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz.

Sousuke opened his eyes slowly, feeling a haze of drugs clamping over his otherwise sharp mind. Everything was moving rather slowly. For example, he didn't notice that there was an IV in his arm, pumping him full of who-knows-what until at least three seconds later. This realization was followed by the observation that he was no longer in the jeans he'd been provided with, but in the gray sweatsuit again. He didn't remember changing...
"Good morning Mr. Inoue," His nurse said as she cautiously entered the room. He nodded to her and looked up at the IV curiously, wondering if she would sedate him if he asked.
"Just a precaution," She said, as if answering his questioning gaze. "After your accident and the severe blood loss that followed, your body is sadly lacking in nutrients with which to produce more blood. Of course, I would have just given you a few cookies and left it at that, but the doctors around here are just so--"
The nurse tried to help Sousuke out of bed, but he had other ideas. After seeing those nurses transform before his very eyes, and then experiencing one nearly kill him, he wasn't about to let one of them near him.
"DON'T TOUCH ME!" He spat, pressing his body against the opposing wall like a trapped animal.
"Mr. Inoue!" The nurse shouted back, "Get out of your bed this instant, or I will be forced to call an orderly!"
More monsters. No, he wouldn't let that happen. He needed to get out of this room, and quickly. Sousuke grabbed the IV and brandished it, jabbing at his nurse and growling. "Get BACK!"
"Orderly!" The nurse cried, her voice warbling in panic. He'd been so cooperative yesterday... what had brought this sudden change on?
Sousuke was pinned and drugged, but not without a fight. It took three orderlies five minutes just to disarm him, and not without gaining their share of bruises. Furious, Sousuke's nurse deposited him in the Sun Room, sans IV, and left him to fend for himself.
He couldn't be sure, but the sergeant thought he saw the young man he'd met... was it two days ago? His head wasn't exactly functioning properly. He made his way over to where Takaya was sitting, and tried his best to find himself a chair. They kept moving around...
"They drugged me again..."
no subject
"Hope you took at least one or two down with you though."
no subject
He leaned back in his chair, closing his eyes so the room would stop spinning. "I was--" Scared. "Apprehensive concerning my nurse. And considering what happened on the buses last night..." He trailed off, his head lolling forward to stare at his lap.
"Obviously you escaped intact."
no subject
"I don't know what happened afterwards."
no subject
"Did something happen?"
no subject
"And the one person here that I knew from before is now gone. Maybe that had something to do with it...."
no subject
"Who was this person?" Sousuke asked.
no subject
no subject
The sergeant had seen far too many soldiers go through counseling after an especially hard and costly battle. Takaya didn't seem like he had survivor's guilt, it sounded more like he had just lost someone he cared about.
"I am unable to understand your pain, but I can sympathize."
no subject
He looked over at Sagara. "What happened to you last night?"
no subject
The sergeant frowned, thinking back. It was hard to do through drugs, "I... attacked one of the nurses wi' my shirt. It fought back and, h-hit my femoral artery. I was certain that death was imminent, but Captain Harkness--"
He stopped, frowning. "D'you have any experience kissing men?"
no subject
"What?" Takaya was instantly defensive. "Why the hell would you ask me that?"
That he had experience, that he wasn't totally stupid, and that he .... well, it wasn't really something he wanted to discuss.
no subject
Sousuke, seeing that he'd never had a girlfriend/boyfriend/lover, etc., had never been kissed before last night. It was an odd sensation, one that he still couldn't put into words.
"I am under the impression that some men enjoy kissing and engaging in sexual activity with other men, and that the same is true with women engaging with other women. I am curious about the subject, and merely was wondering if you knew anything on it."
no subject
As Sagara went on, Takaya could feel his face heat up. He wouldn't get angry, but he was damn close, and the only thing that kept him from punching the other teen in the face was because he sounded honestly curious. That was probably more Kagetora's influence than anything else though. And he wasn't pleased either.
"I ...." He frowned and looked around. Nobody seemed to be listening to them, but still... "I don't really want to talk about it. I know some crap, but this isn't the place for that kind of thing."
no subject
"Did you find anything interesting in town?"
Oh, good subject change, Sousuke!
no subject
Takaya scowled again. "Nothing. It was a waste of time."
no subject
"So you didn't do anything in town?"
no subject
He nodded at Sagara. "What about you?"
no subject
It still annoyed him--especially the part where he could have gotten his hands on much more useful weapons. But he'd been caught up in faking injury.
"The women in that building were terrifying..."
no subject
The teenager had to shake his head. He wouldn't be caught dead in such a girly place, and he knew all about how scary some girls could be... But it wasn't hard to move around the town and he hadn't had any problems like that.
no subject
"I did," Sousuke said, his tone short. He frowned at Takaya, not finding the situation as amusing as he did. "Next time, those women won't be as lucky."
The Head Doctor came over the intercom. Sousuke continued to bore his gaze into the table, feeling rather like he had back in Hong Kong. He missed everyone.
"Excuse me," he said, standing up to go. He turned and tripped over his chair.
no subject
"Since I'm going that way," he said, seeing that maybe a flat out demand to help wouldn't be well taken, "let's walk together."
no subject
He nodded, "Yeah, let's go."
