Day 29: Sun Room

It was with some relief that Yuuhi awoke the next morning, in his own bed, sore and tired and achy.  He would've slept more had they let him, his face down in the pillow, away from all the others and their questions and their concern.  He didn't want to see them, but he managed a little smile when the nurse came in and didn't object when she lead him out into the open hallway that had been splattered with blood, plenty of it his, just last night.

The Chapel or the Sun Room?  He felt he had good reason not to be terribly religious and had a feeling he wouldn't be very welcome there anyway.  The Sun Room would be nice though.  It was bright and cheery and he could always doodle or write notes on the community board if he'd nothing better to do.  Besides, the nurse was kind enough to let him take a book with him.

He found a seat on one of the couches, far from the entrance and seated himself in the far corner, legs scrunched up against his chest so he only took up one of the cushions.  He opened up where he'd left off, fingers carefully turning the worn pages  of Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz.

"Oh..." Sousuke said, not exactly sure how to respond to Takaya calling his teacher a roach. Well, if he was okay with his subordinate... friend... teacher... whatever this guy was, disappearing, then Sousuke wasn't about to claim he wasn't.

The sergeant frowned, thinking back. It was hard to do through drugs, "I... attacked one of the nurses wi' my shirt. It fought back and, h-hit my femoral artery. I was certain that death was imminent, but Captain Harkness--"

He stopped, frowning. "D'you have any experience kissing men?"

[identity profile] forgot-my-life.livejournal.com 2007-12-21 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
That was certainly an unexpected question.

"What?" Takaya was instantly defensive. "Why the hell would you ask me that?"

That he had experience, that he wasn't totally stupid, and that he .... well, it wasn't really something he wanted to discuss.

"Captain Harkness engaged in a kiss with me last night, and somehow I ceased to bleed. I understand that such a phenomenon is not common, but I am still questioning my feelings on the subject."

Sousuke, seeing that he'd never had a girlfriend/boyfriend/lover, etc., had never been kissed before last night. It was an odd sensation, one that he still couldn't put into words.

"I am under the impression that some men enjoy kissing and engaging in sexual activity with other men, and that the same is true with women engaging with other women. I am curious about the subject, and merely was wondering if you knew anything on it."

"That's .... fucking weird."

As Sagara went on, Takaya could feel his face heat up. He wouldn't get angry, but he was damn close, and the only thing that kept him from punching the other teen in the face was because he sounded honestly curious. That was probably more Kagetora's influence than anything else though. And he wasn't pleased either.

"I ...." He frowned and looked around. Nobody seemed to be listening to them, but still... "I don't really want to talk about it. I know some crap, but this isn't the place for that kind of thing."

"Oh... right, apologies," Takaya looked like he was about to reach over the table and hit him. Sousuke might have been emotionally blind, but he could sense aggression from a mile away. Maybe this wasn't the best place or the best person to talk about this with.

"Did you find anything interesting in town?"

Oh, good subject change, Sousuke!

"Look, you can ask me later, if you really want to know that bad. Just... not right now."

Takaya scowled again. "Nothing. It was a waste of time."

Now he was just getting mixed signals. Sousuke glanced around the room, wondering if someone was watching them. He didn't see anybody looking. Weird. What could be making Takaya this uncomfortable?

"So you didn't do anything in town?"

[identity profile] forgot-my-life.livejournal.com 2007-12-23 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Takaya shook his head. "Walked around, saw a few people." He shrugged. "I was looking for that bastard Naoe mostly. When I didn't find him, I went to the park and took a nap."

He nodded at Sagara. "What about you?"

"I partnered with a fellow soldier and we attempted to infiltrate the local nail salon. Our efforts were fruitless, unfortunately."

It still annoyed him--especially the part where he could have gotten his hands on much more useful weapons. But he'd been caught up in faking injury.

"The women in that building were terrifying..."

[identity profile] forgot-my-life.livejournal.com 2007-12-23 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Takaya blinked, then the sheer strangeness caught up with him and he grinned. "A nail place? You were trying to break into a fucking nail place? And you fucked that up?"

The teenager had to shake his head. He wouldn't be caught dead in such a girly place, and he knew all about how scary some girls could be... But it wasn't hard to move around the town and he hadn't had any problems like that.

Sousuke looked down at his hands, embarrassed. It had been a rather simple infiltration mission, and somehow he had messed it up twice. He had to get his act together, otherwise who knew what would happen to him when a monster wasn't as forgiving?

"I did," Sousuke said, his tone short. He frowned at Takaya, not finding the situation as amusing as he did. "Next time, those women won't be as lucky."

The Head Doctor came over the intercom. Sousuke continued to bore his gaze into the table, feeling rather like he had back in Hong Kong. He missed everyone.

"Excuse me," he said, standing up to go. He turned and tripped over his chair.

Takaya glared up at nothing as he listened to the intercom and the doctor's stupid ass message. When Sagara tried to stand, Takaya stood as well and moved just in time to snag the other boy's arm.

"Since I'm going that way," he said, seeing that maybe a flat out demand to help wouldn't be well taken, "let's walk together."

[identity profile] uruz-vii.livejournal.com 2007-12-27 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Sousuke didn't exactly feel like having someone help him around when he was feeling so useless. But he wasn't the only one who was feeling out of sorts--Takaya was as well.

He nodded, "Yeah, let's go."

Glad he wouldn't be spending another meal with nothing much to do, Takaya eased back on Sagara and led him to the cafeteria.
