Day 29: Chapel

Hiei didn't give a damn about religious services, meditation, or pretending to be social. The always sudden waking after night put him in a bad mood, this one particularly so. Even with Kurikara licking him like some perverted moron, the warmth the dragon provided was welcome in Hiei's bed, and missing when he woke, giving the surrounding air a greater sense of chill.

But the perfect thing to relieve his anger might just be making an appearance that morning, and that at least gave Hiei hope for a decent day.

Hopefully Kurikara and Kurama both would be clever enough to figure it out for themselves. Without hesitation, Hiei demanded to be led to the temple, taking a seat in one of the rear pews. Humans had a way of overdoing things, and this place wasn't really much exception to that. Granted Hiei's limited knowledge prevented him from realizing there were much more outrageous churches, but to the demon, the colored pieces of glass and polished wood seemed to be much.

It didn't matter, however. Either could be turned into weapons, perfect objects to slice into that damned head doctor's throat or bash in his skull. That was a thought worth grinning about.

[Feel free to pester. Just, uh, be aware that he's not exactly nice.]

"Indeed. It wouldn't even be an issue if I had my full strength." Or at least, she could have more than held her own. She wasn't Captain level, but she had a lot of experience on her side. "I believe I'll attempt to go through the courtyard if I need to get into the cafeteria from now on. At least it isn't such a confined space."

The change of subject was gratefully accepted by Rangiku. Dwelling on last night would just get depressing and there was no sake to drown her sorrows with now. She smiled, nodding enthusiastically. "It's been a great help," she replied. "It's almost a perfect match for my Haineko in shape and weight." It could never match up in the areas which truly mattered, but as a weapon, it was good that it was familiar.

"I think everyone would do well to take that advice." In fact, maybe they should publicize it on the bulletin board. Braving the Sun Room never worked out, as far as he could tell. One of the only times he had run into a Special Counseling patient, it had happened there - and he had heard further horror stories on top of that.

It was good to hear that his handiwork wasn't failing anyone. He should have known better than to concern himself over it, especially since he hadn't heard any complaints. While he didn't know what a "Haineko" was, he could only assume it was the name of Matsumoto's sword. Roy didn't quite understand the attachment people had to weapons - the only thing he could equate it to was his gloves, and they certainly didn't have names.

"I'm glad," he said with a small smile.

"Hmmm, probably. Although then they'd doubtless change the place that those patients are set in, making the courtyard and field more difficult to navigate," she said, tapping her lips with one finger. It only made sense that they'd guard more fiercely the way that most people went. "Or perhaps this is trying to push us into using a more dangerous and circuitous route." That was another possibility. A larger area to cross also meant more opportunities for attack.

"We'd be in a much worse position if not for the work of the alchemists," she said with a grateful smile. "I still wish I had my zanpakuto here, but a good sword is a definite advantage."
