Day 29: Chapel

Hiei didn't give a damn about religious services, meditation, or pretending to be social. The always sudden waking after night put him in a bad mood, this one particularly so. Even with Kurikara licking him like some perverted moron, the warmth the dragon provided was welcome in Hiei's bed, and missing when he woke, giving the surrounding air a greater sense of chill.

But the perfect thing to relieve his anger might just be making an appearance that morning, and that at least gave Hiei hope for a decent day.

Hopefully Kurikara and Kurama both would be clever enough to figure it out for themselves. Without hesitation, Hiei demanded to be led to the temple, taking a seat in one of the rear pews. Humans had a way of overdoing things, and this place wasn't really much exception to that. Granted Hiei's limited knowledge prevented him from realizing there were much more outrageous churches, but to the demon, the colored pieces of glass and polished wood seemed to be much.

It didn't matter, however. Either could be turned into weapons, perfect objects to slice into that damned head doctor's throat or bash in his skull. That was a thought worth grinning about.

[Feel free to pester. Just, uh, be aware that he's not exactly nice.]

MOMO thought to herself for a moment, before looking down at her hands once more. "I think... I think I can understand that." It did make sense, at least. It wasn't the Doctor himself that was so frightening-- few people were frightening by themself. But the idea that he was, allegedly, the one behind everything; that was what was frightening. How could one person be capable of so much?

She was a little curious as to why it would be a good thing that many people hadn't met those who were of elven origin. But, if he would rather not explain the statement, she wasn't one to press the issue.

"Oh, it is! At least, from what I do know, that's what religion usually entails, but..." She paused momentarily, trying to figure out a proper way of wording it. "Sometimes the people who lead certain religions become so engrossed in the power that comes with their leadership position, that they forget the true purpose of their religion. They want to become a god themself, and that's when things get dangerous because, from what I've seen, they'll stop at nothing to achieve that goal."

That made some degree of sense. Though in Valyn's experience, religion wasn't needed for that mentality. As far as the humans were concerned, elves were gods. Or demons.

"Every elven lord I knew of who sought the secrets of human gods did so in the quest for greater power," he mused, thinking on it. "Power of any sort is a seductive lure, I suppose. I can understand, if religions rely upon leaders, how that can easily happen."
