Day 29: Chapel

Hiei didn't give a damn about religious services, meditation, or pretending to be social. The always sudden waking after night put him in a bad mood, this one particularly so. Even with Kurikara licking him like some perverted moron, the warmth the dragon provided was welcome in Hiei's bed, and missing when he woke, giving the surrounding air a greater sense of chill.

But the perfect thing to relieve his anger might just be making an appearance that morning, and that at least gave Hiei hope for a decent day.

Hopefully Kurikara and Kurama both would be clever enough to figure it out for themselves. Without hesitation, Hiei demanded to be led to the temple, taking a seat in one of the rear pews. Humans had a way of overdoing things, and this place wasn't really much exception to that. Granted Hiei's limited knowledge prevented him from realizing there were much more outrageous churches, but to the demon, the colored pieces of glass and polished wood seemed to be much.

It didn't matter, however. Either could be turned into weapons, perfect objects to slice into that damned head doctor's throat or bash in his skull. That was a thought worth grinning about.

[Feel free to pester. Just, uh, be aware that he's not exactly nice.]

Hisoka frowned, he could almost feel his brain spluttering in attempts to start working again. The boy shook his head before holding up his hand in silent gesture for the other boy to be silent.

"First of all, it doesn't work that way." Hisoka had heard about some of those movies, even if had never seen any for himself one small blessing for a strictly traditional family. "Secondly, you're not the first vampire I've met and finally, you did what you did last night out of desperation. If you were a loon or a sociopathic killer then I'd see no reason to be 'nice'." Hopefully Tsuzuki would never learn about this conversation, he's never let him live it down.

Kyon did stay quiet while the other talked. The points he made were interesting, and ...relieving. Kyon smiled just a little.

"Are there any other vampires here that you know of?" Kyon asked a few moments later. It hadn't crossed his mind earlier that there could be others here dealing with what he was. Hisoka made it sound promising. Maybe he didn't have to be so out in the dark on all of this.

Hisoka frowned thoughtfully. "A while back there was a mentioning of some on the bulletin board." At the time that had also been regarding someone having been bitten, there had been no further mention about it so the boy doubted this vampire was any different from Kyon. That or the bastard was really good at hiding the bodies.

"You won't find any easily, though, there's always going to be someone afraid of what they don't understand and 'vampires' easily make the list." Right below 'the boogyman' and 'that thing in the dark that should be a toaster, but let's not chance it'.

A sigh and Kyon casually put his hands behind his head. No he really didn't think finding another vampire, or at least finding someone who was similiar to him, would be an easy task. Kyon knew he had to tread carefully himself, knowing there were definitely some people here who didn't take kindly to casual blood drinking.

This was really more trouble than he'd ever wanted.

"I'm going to try and find Hikaru later today. Hopefully he won't try to stake me or anything." A vague attempt at humor even if he really was worried someone might do it to him before he left this madhouse.

"Doubtful," Hisoka replied, not catching the joke. "The most you'll have you worry about is him being afraid of you or him telling everyone." From what Hisoka had seen from the night before, the twins weren't all that different from normal boys from his own world. They both were panicking, none even remotely noticed the signs that Kyon was even struggling... Hisoka doubted either of them would really know what to do if they faced a vampire that was out for their head. The boy shook his head.

Kyon didn't say anything about the missed joke, instead he just nodded his head. No, he'd already thought about things from this angle. If it traveled around the institute what he was, no doubt he'd be mistaken as some monster in the halls.

That wouldn't end very well.

"I wouldn't blame him if he was afraid of me." A sigh and Kyon stood up from the pew. "I'll try to talk to him anyways." Kyon glanced around looking for a clock of some sort. After finding none in this room he gave a polite nod to Hisoka as if pardoning himself from the conversation. "Better do it now before they end the shift ...Ah, thanks for understanding, really."

If Hisoka had been confused before, then he didn't want to know what he was now. He hadn't lent an ear for the other boy's troubles and he hadn't offered a shoulder to cry on, so Kyon's thanks for 'understanding' was a bit odd. Did people normally thank others after being interrogated? Or for being forced to relive painful memories?

Maybe Kyon was a masochist...?

"I don't know what you're talking about." Hisoka stood and stepped in the aisle before Kyon could argue his point. It would only fluster the empath further and things were bad enough.
