Day 29: Chapel
Hiei didn't give a damn about religious services, meditation, or pretending to be social. The always sudden waking after night put him in a bad mood, this one particularly so. Even with Kurikara licking him like some perverted moron, the warmth the dragon provided was welcome in Hiei's bed, and missing when he woke, giving the surrounding air a greater sense of chill.
But the perfect thing to relieve his anger might just be making an appearance that morning, and that at least gave Hiei hope for a decent day.
Hopefully Kurikara and Kurama both would be clever enough to figure it out for themselves. Without hesitation, Hiei demanded to be led to the temple, taking a seat in one of the rear pews. Humans had a way of overdoing things, and this place wasn't really much exception to that. Granted Hiei's limited knowledge prevented him from realizing there were much more outrageous churches, but to the demon, the colored pieces of glass and polished wood seemed to be much.
It didn't matter, however. Either could be turned into weapons, perfect objects to slice into that damned head doctor's throat or bash in his skull. That was a thought worth grinning about.
[Feel free to pester. Just, uh, be aware that he's not exactly nice.]

Lifting his head, the braided boy looked over in Ken's direction, a little surprised and a little relieved to see him sitting there. "Oh, it's you. Ken, right? Glad to see you're not dead." Truthfully, he was pretty surprised that no one seemed to have ended up dead. Would miracles never cease...
"Sorry about bailing on you like that last night. Did you get patched up okay?"
no subject
"Yeah, I lived. Not for the giant bird-thing's lack of trying." Ken leaned back in the pew, looking around the room--the chapel was bare of any significant religious trappings, probably to not insult (or maybe set off) anyone. "Anyway, nothing to be sorry about. The thing tore you up, I jumped in. You alright?"
no subject
Quatre entered the church with a small frown. He was never really a religious person, though he was very spiritual. He never required a Chapel to feel at peace with himself, but something about the idea seemed a bit relieving. Maybe he was just gripping for something that made sense in this place.
Maybe he would pray to Sandrock, since he had never ever been really sure that God listened to prayers. In his mind, humans made their own paths and had to follow through to them.
"Do you mind if I join you?" he asked quietly when he came to Duo and a stranger. He wanted to make sure that his friend was alright, but if they wished to be alone he would leave.

It was a credit to how crappy he was feeling that he didn't notice Quatre approaching until the blond was next to them. Well, good thing he wasn't talking too loudly about the crappy night he had. That last thing he needed was to give Quatre an aneurysm from worrying about him.
"Course not. Why would we mind? Not like we're holding some kind of secret pow-wow against blonds." Duo looked around for a moment, and whistled low. "Though there are quite a number of you, aren't there? Creepy." He flashed Quatre a teasing grin before getting around to the introductions.
"Anyway, Quatre, this is Ken, a friend of the cute date I ditched you guys for last night. Ken, this is Quatre, a buddy of mine from back home." There, now they could all be one big friendly family, right? Right.

Ken nodded, if Duo said he was fine he wasn't going to press
even if he knew some people, hi Aya, that would continually say that they were fine when they were really bleeding out.Though Duo's introduction had to make Ken laugh. "If I would've known you had that kind of relationship going on with our Omitchi..." he teased before turning to Quatre. "Nice to meet you. Pardon me for not bowing, but I'm a rude bastard anyway and I don't think the bandages'd make it easy on me."
no subject
"I would hope the date was cute," he said, lightly joking, "I would hate to get ditched otherwise." He smiled at Ken's laugh, though his eyes were worried. "It is a pleasure to meet you as well, though I wish I could say it was in better circumstances." He didn't comment about the bandages, though his eyes clearly showed that he was concerned for Ken and for Duo. "Did your date not go as planned, Duo?" he asked his friend.
no subject
It wasn't hard to tell that Quatre was already in 'worry' mode, and Duo figured he didn't need to be mother-hened to death first thing in the morning. It wasn't like he was seriously injured. He might have been last night, but that was a different story. Might as well keep it short and save his friend a little grief.
"Not exactly, no. Had a little trouble getting into the building with all those things flying about, but Ken here gave us a hand." Ok, that was probably enough sugar-coating to send a diabetic into shock, but it would do.
no subject
"You're welcome," Ken added as an aside, before focusing on the rest of the room once again. Aya and Omi weren't around, and Ken wondered vaguely where they were--there was Yohji. Well, there was at least one of the others accounted for.

"If it helps at all, the next time some crazy thing with teeth and claws jumps out at us, I've got it covered. You can run like hell, ok?" Duo grinned, but truthfully, he was only half joking. Not that Ken or Quatre needed to know that. It'd just be a little easier on his conscience and his pride if he didn't have to look back and see people getting torn up to keep him safe like he did last night.
What was being a Gundam pilot even worth if he couldn't defend himself?

He paused for a second, lazily opening his eyes again. "...huh. Sister'd have my head if she knew I just cursed in a chapel. Oh well."
no subject
He didn't comment on Ken bringing up his sister. He was sure that he had a sister or two that would be offended at the use of language in a "chapel" but he didn't know most of his siblings well enough to be sure of their opinions. This place seemed to have no affliction with any religion, so he wasn't sure how 'holy' it seemed to be to him.
